Age: 17
Height: 160 cm (~5’ 3”)
Weight: ?
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Tatsumi Port Island, Japan
Franchise: Persona 3 Portable
Physical Description: Hamuko is your average looking Japanese teenager. She has brown hair tied up in a small ponytail with a fringe of hair that slightly covers her right eye. Her hair is also pinned back with barrettes that form the roman numeral XXII. Her eyes are a rather distinct red color. Most of the time, she wears her school uniform, which consists of a black jacket with a red checkered logo on the left breast over a white long sleeved shirt, a black skirt, knee high white socks, and black leather shoes. Around her neck, Hamuko wears her MP3 player on a lanyard. Attached to the MP3 player are a pair of distinctive red headphones, which usually dangle from around Hamuko’s neck.
Weapons: Hamuko tends to use any sort of spear-like weapons, particularly of the “blade on a stick” variety. Most often, she uses a naginata, a type of Japanese spear.
Abilities/Powers: Hamuko has the ability to summon a Persona, a type of manifestation of one’s psyche. However, Hamuko’s ability is special, as she possesses the Wild Card, an ability that allows her to summon multiple Personas. Her starting Persona is Orpheus, while her ultimate Persona is Messiah. The Personas she most often uses in battle are Orpheus Telos and Messiah.
Skills: Hamuko is a very good volleyball player, and played lead position on her team when she was at Gekkoukan.
Personality: Hamuko is a rather cheerful individual, exuding a kind of energy that lends her to forming friendships easily. She’s rather open about herself, and at the same time, she is good at listening to other people and helping them with their problems. She’s rather polite, but not to the point of it being annoying.
History: Hamuko lived a normal life with her entirely normal parents until when she was seven. At midnight one night, several things happened. A school on Port Island had a large explosion, many people were killed, a powerful Shadow known as Death escaped from its holdings inside a secret lab, and the Dark Hour came into existence for the first time,. The Shadow escaped onto a bridge, pursued by several humanoid Anti-Shadow Weapons. In its fight with them, the Shadow attacked several cars and killed the inhabitants. Hamuko, in shock from entering the Dark Hour for the first time and the deaths of her parents, wandered onto the bridge, where the last of the robots, Aigis, was fighting Death. Aigis, knowing she would be unable to defeat the Shadow, sealed it inside Hamuko before finally collapsing from the damage she had taken. When the Dark Hour faded, Hamuko was in so much shock from the deaths of her parents and the sudden events on the bridge that she ultimately blocked the incident from her memory.
Over the next ten years, she was shifted from relative to relative, always having to move again when one of them became unable to take care of her for some reason or another. When Hamuko was 17, she managed to earn a scholarship for a rather expensive private school in Port Island, Gekkoukan High School. She was apprehensive at first about returning to the town of her birth, but she eventually decided to return.
It was while she was walking to the dorm she had been designated that Hamuko experienced the Dark Hour for the first time since she’d returned to Port Island. Despite the strange color the world had turned, the coffins, and blood, she continued walking on to the dorm, where a strange boy in prisoner’s clothing asked her to sign a contract, which she did. The boy disappeared, and Hamuko suddenly found a girl with a gun confronting her. Before anything could happen, the Dark Hour faded. Hamuko was introduced into the dorm, settled into life at school, and largely forgot the strange incident.
A couple days later, the dorm was attacked by a giant Shadow. Hamuko was forced to fight, and ended up summoning her Persona, Orpheus… before another Persona proceeded to rip its way out of Orpheus’ skull, slaughter the giant Shadow, and pretty much end up knocking Hamuko out for the next week. Upon awakening, Hamuko was inducted into SEES and ended up as its acting leader for missions.
Over the next few months, Hamuko led SEES in battle against the other Arcana Shadows, balancing school with saving the world for many months straight. Soon after defeating the twelfth of the Shadows, it was revealed to SEES that in truth, they had been doing the wrong thing by killing all of the Shadows, as by killing them they became part of Death and would usher in the Fall.
Not long after the last of the twelve Shadows was defeated, a new student transferred into Gekkoukan High. The student, named Ryoji Mochizuki, felt familiar to Hamuko, and she found herself befriending him. The two of them fell in love, and though they’d only known each other for a short period of time, Hamuko couldn’t help but feel she’d known Ryoji all her life. The reason for this was revealed after Ryoji was forced into battling Aigis one night on the Moonlight Bridge. Ryoji was in truth Death, and after the initial explosion ten years ago he was sealed into Hamuko’s body, only to be released once the 12 Arcana Shadows were defeated. Ryoji’s existence meant that the Fall, the end of the world; and Nyx, the goddess who would facilitate the end; were coming. Ryoji then gave SEES a choice: kill him, postpone the amount of time until the Fall, and forget everything about the Dark Hour; or let him live, living with the knowledge that they would die before spring came.
The revelations hit SEES hard, to say the least. It’s not easy knowing you’re going to die. Though none of them ever saw it, Hamuko was hit the worst of all. In the weeks that passed from when Ryoji first left to when he returned, it was not uncommon for Hamuko to cry herself to sleep at night. When Ryoji returned to SEES a month later, Hamuko chose to let him live. Ryoji was saddened by Hamuko’s decision, but it allowed him to spend one last tender moment with Hamuko, in which he admitted she was the only girl he’d ever loved.
The last month was spent preparing for the fight against Nyx on top of Tartarus. When the night of the end came, Hamuko lead SEES to the top, defeating both Jin and Takaya along the way. When SEES reached the top, they found the being that Ryoji had become: Nyx Avatar. In a futile attempt to stop the fall, SEES battled Nyx Avatar, but in the end they couldn’t do anything. Nyx revealed its true form inside the moon and began to execute the Fall. Using the power of the bonds she’d formed since moving to Port Island, Hamuko formed the Universe Arcana Persona and sealed away Nyx using her own soul. She would have died then and there had she not a promise to keep. She hung on to life until graduation, where she died in the arms of the robot Aigis, who had always promised to protect her.
A few years after Hamuko became the seal, an attendant from the Velvet Room, Theodore, found a way to free her from her responsibility. He took Hamuko’s place as the seal, freeing her soul. Because she had already died, she was unable to return to her home dimension, and was sent to the Dimensional Island.
Other: What’s this? Another Persona character from FF? Are you trying to make some kind of monopoly on Persona characters?
To answer your question, YES I AM! *shot*
Okay, the main reason I’m getting Hamuko is because due to plot lockouts, I’m unable to use any of my other Persona characters in normal RPs. Since Hamuko is from a completely different dimension from Minato and it would be INCREDIBLY AWKWARD for her and Minato to meet, she won’t be appearing in Rei no Kaado, thus keeping her from the plot lockout all of my other Persona characters have ended up in.
I may end up revamping her at some point to include elements from Reset, my Persona 3 Portable fanfic, once it’s far enough along.
