(Rules are written by mugenginga, approved by fellow mod Firebreath Fishslap and Admin nintendonut1)
These are the new (and polished) Site Rules as of 06/25/11. Please read these before you join, it makes things saner for everyone!
We operate on a three strike system on Dimensional Clash. You're allowed three breakings of a rule before you get banned (so you can get a third warning without being banned, but the next one means banning). You are allowed to "regain" strikes if six months pass from your most recent strike.
ALso, you don't need to read the rule clarifications underneath the bolded rules, but they are there in case you want them.
1. Try and Get Along/Don't Be a Douche
We're not asking for prim proper behavior here, just that you don't go out of your way to make conflicts. We are usually pretty good about letting people know when they're bothering us, and the mods are generally happy to sit in on conversations so you folks can work stuff out. We're asking for the general "Golden Rule" stuff here, y'know, don't harass people, try not to get too heated discussion wise, etc.
2. Be Reasonably Literate
Basically we're asking that a native English speaker can make some sense out of what you wrote. We get typos, and posts can be as long or short as you like, but try and be understandable. The main language on site is English, so please have some ability to read/write in that language.
3a. Keep Swearing, Violence, Gore, Etc Within Reason
For most posts, we ask that you keep things around a PG-13 level in terms of swearing, violence, etc.
3b. R-Rated Content Allowed With Permission and Disclaimers
We however do allow you to get stronger content if you put a disclaimer at the beginning of your thread saying that there will be an elevated level of violence/gore/etc. If it just magically happens in the thread, we ask that the first post gets edited to reflect the tonal shift. If you shift the tone mid-thread, make sure all current roleplayers are comfortable with it!
3c. Higher than R-Rated Material Allowed Via PMs Only
If you want to roleplay your characters going at it in explicit detail, we aren't going to stop you. But anything rated higher than R (NC-17, X of any value, etc) needs to be kept off the main boards. Roleplay it via PMs or IMs or something, please. And this probably goes without saying, but don't be trying to send this type of PM to people without clearing it with them first, okay?
4. All Romance and Pairings Allowed With Involved Players' Consent
You're allowed to pair off your characters however you please providing all owners have approved of the pairing. You don't need mod permission as long as everyone's chill with it. This goes for any characters, canon/licensed or fan/original, and in any layout you like. Boys Love/Shounen-Ai/Yaoi and Girls Love/Shoujo-Ai/Yuri is allowed as long as all other rules are followed.
5. No Godmoding Without Permission
Godmoding on this site basically refers to taking control of a character you don't play or being completely and totally unrealistic in RP with them (always hitting, never getting hit, etc). We have some very powerful characters on site and are super leniant in what we allow you to sign up, but we ask that you roleplay them fairly. However, we also recognize that for smoothness of roleplays sometimes its just easier to show your attack connecting. This is okay, just make sure you get permission from the other involved party first! Disclaimers that you have done so are not required, but reccommended.
6. No Mini-Modding
This basically means don't try to enforce rules if you're not a staff member. We do have a report board (you can find it here: mrsaturn123.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=reportpeoplehere) and you're also free to PM a mod with your issue, so please take advantage of that. We used to allow friendly reminders, but it got out of hand, so please just let a staff know. You can find the staff list at the top of the front page or here: mrsaturn123.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=rulesfortheboard&thread=5537.
7. Please Don’t Rush Members to Post
What is “rushing” is different for everyone, so all we ask is that if a person let’s you know that you’re bothering them by reminding them to post or asking about posts, back off a little. The general rule for PM reminders is wait two days from when it was a person’s turn to post and then wait two days for a response. Check the Away board before asking them to post as well.
8. Report Bots And Move On
Please don't reply to bots, it makes deleting their posts very difficult for the mods. You can recognize a bot by a linkridden post - they usually don't make any sense either. Don't click on any links you find in these posts, they usually lead to viruses!
9a. One Canon/Licensed Character Per Week
Basically if a character exists in a show, book, manga, etc you like, they are licensed. You can get one per week. Please do not post one before you are able to get it - it makes things difficult for the mods. Webcomics and the like also count as licensed unless you own them. Fan characters do not count as licensed.
9b. One Original/Fan Character Per Day
You're allowed one created character per day, even if they have been created for a franchise or have a relationship with a canon character in your story with them.
RESCINDED. SEE 9A/B.
9a/b. One Character At A Time
Due to low membership, the one character a day limit has been removed. You may app as many characters as you want a day, but they must go up one at a time.
9c. Alternate Universe Variation on Canons Are Allowed if Canon or with Original Owner's Permission
You're allowed to sign up alternate universe (AU) versions of canons if they are also canon (an example would be Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls anime) or you get permission from the original canon owner (such as a variation of a licensed character that appears in a fanwork). If it is the first version of that canon on site, the canon version would still be available but other AUs would have to go through the first AU's owner.
10. Please Wait a Week Before Inquiring About Adopting a Character
That’s a week of the person not being on at all without an Away thread. You also have to wait a week after you send the owner a PM before you can adopt the character. If they come back before you’re able to post them and they object, you can’t get them (however you're allowed to discuss it with the current owner, but no means no). It’s basically to avoid both character stagnation and character theft.
