I have waaaaaaaaaay too many OCs but hey LET'S GIVE THIS A SHOT
Gonna go down the full character list for this because I'm a lazy motherfucker and haven't really updated the OC lists lately.
Ellie just came about as a kind of random idea of mine. At the time I made her, I was working a lot on my Doppelgangers plot so I decided to tie her origins into it. Plus, she's an otaku, meaning I can throw her into any plot and have her fangeek whenever.
All of the characters from the Continuing Saga franchise on the lists are from an original story/comic of mine,
The Continuing Saga of Tree, Todd, and Snowy. That story has a LOT of characters. Like, I've done big group pics of them and not a single one has had every character in the series in it.
Individual CS origins- Treetune is an old character of mine who started out as a self insert, then became a fursona when I made her a furry, then became a separate character because I decided I was over having a fursona but I liked the story I'd set up for her.
- Todd exists because Tree needed a weapon, and the idea of using a fish to slap people just felt hilarious at the time. And then I made it breathe fire, talk like Mr. T and decided it was a god because why the fuck not
- Snowy was based on an old pet of mine. Her origins are based on a game I played on a forum, which was basically "Corrupt a Wish". One of the wishes I made brought her back to life, and another one ended up making her a grim reaper. I kept it for her origin story for shits and giggles.
- Ark just came from me drawing cute things one Christmas. Originally he wasn't anthro, but I decided to make him so after drawing him a bit. There were also originally a lot more angel foxes like him, but the only ones that remained in the final story were Jonah and the Fox Elder.
- Beatrice was originally a dialogueless character called the Treetune Plush, who hated Tree for some noodle incident that took place at a party. After a while I decided I needed to revamp her and decided to use this design for these creepy ass plushies for it. While designing the plushie version of the new Treetune Plush, I drew a human form for her, and ended up liking the human form more than the plushie form.
- The Black Cat is a very old character of mine. He started out as the main villain in a comic I did called Doodlespace (which was VERY different from the current Doodlespace) and led a group of antivirus programs called the Guardians, who were basically ballsing everything up in the Doodlespace. Then when I scrapped the original Doodlespace concept, I kept the Guardians idea around for a later, more serious concept and made the Black Cat the leader of the Guardians, who were more like an Illuminati type group. Then I scrapped THAT concept, and while at camp, redrew some Doodlespace stuff, and made the Black Cat basically a eldritch abomination. His basic design in this latest incarnation is based on the Big Bad Wolf from Everafter.
- Boreal was just an elf I drew one day that I liked the design of, so I made him a character.
- Clive came about as a result of me playing around with silly weapon ideas, because silly weapons seem to be a prerequisite for this series. Fishing poles really appeal to me as a weapon, so I gave him one.
- De'Marcus originates from one year I was at camp, where our cabin's mascot was a ceramic garden ornament hedgehog that we eventually decided had super powers. Long story short he got smashed while the entire girl's side of the camp was forced to watch, which led to me beating the shit out of some counselors. It was pretty boss. Oh, and we won the Spirit Stick too, because we were so over the top about our love of this hedgehog.
- Dolphi III originates from another one of my old pets, this time a betta fish.
- Fishhook exists as a parallel to Todd for when Tree and Dolphi fight each other.
- Ford Blackstaff actually originated in a whole separate story. He was an apprentice magician who traveled with a goblin swordsman named Jarrl. They beat up a werewolf shota who had taken over their whole kingdom. The art style for that universe was just all around adorable and cute. Obviously, I had to make Ford into one of the darkest villains of the series. In universe, Jarrl got absorbed by the Black Cat to make BC's sword.
- Gogo was another character that originated from some random sketches I did.
- Larry and Pilar resulted from some other random sketches of mine. Kyle's demon form is actually based on Pilar's, instead of the other way around. Larry's origin as a puppetmaster demon came from a decision to make him more related to Oni.
- Kid also originated from some random sketches. He was one of the original members of the Doom Alchemists, though when I first drew Kid, he wasn't human. He became human eventually though.
- Lili originated from a robot focused story I did shortly after leaving Valenth. She was able to control a giant teddy bear mech called Mr. Snuggles, and was crazy and murderous. After I started working on the Continuing Saga, she became the leader of the Doom Alchemists and Nicholas Flamel's daughter. She became a girl scout because girl scouts are eeeeeviiiillll
- Mallory came about as a sidekick to another (still nameless) character, who was a delivery boy with superpowers. Of course, then I decided I liked her design more than the delivery boy's and started drawing Mallory more.
- Tortellini exists because secret agents + penguins = unadulterated awesome
- Nicholas Flamel is a fusion of two figures: the actual historical Nicholas Flamel, who supposedly created the Philosopher's Stone, and Gendo Ikari from Evangelion. Naturally, Flamel's the main antagonist.
- Mr. Orange is the mascot for the series, and thus only exists to be cute.
- Pigment is the main character of the most recent Doodlespace comic. His design is based on the same plushies Beatrice's is, so he shares a lot of design elements with her. His presence in the Continuing Saga is because Doodlespace is actually a prequel.
- Hammy originates from a really stupid Doodle I made in this game, Graffiti Kingdom. I was basically aiming to make the most clusterfuck design I possibly could. Spoilers: I succeeded. And then I made him a character.
- Ravioli exists because moe~<3
- Chip originates from another classroom sketch. Originally I made him a bug anthro, but then I decided aliens were cooler.
- Taffy was one of the original members of the Doom Alchemists, though like Kid he was originally anthro. I later made him into elf-monkey boy.
- Taz originates from the some Guardians story Black Cat was a part of at one point. He's kind of always been a douche.
Ingrid came about because I really like the designs for the thieves in Disgaea 2, and I have a thief with that name in that game.
Takahashi and Yamada both came about for Rei no Kaado, after an NPC by the name of Takahashi started showing up fairly often. Takahashi is rather unabashedly based on Ooishi from Higurashi, while Yamada is based on Adachi from Persona 4.
Ame-no-Uzume is based on the demons of the same name from the Shin Megami Tensei series. We needed her to replace another demon that was killed offscreen in Rei no Kaado, and she fufills pretty much the same role as that demon.
Laura originated from a Pokemon RP I joined years ago, where I had a really rude trainer who just was a bitch to everyone and everything. Though she started out as a self insert, I later made her into her own character after changing her personality a bit.
Ian originated from an old, absolutely terrible Pokemon fanfic I wrote. The basic plot was that for various reasons, all of the legendaries had human forms. Ian was the human form of Mewtwo, and at the very end of the story, he lost control of his Mewtwo form, and the main character had to turn into her Jirachi form to stop him and they both die. Quite morbid.
Chel comes from some Pokemon Mystery Dungeon comics I did after the release of the second game. She stood in for the main character of PMD2, and was the snarky narrator. I later made her the main of my original PMD comic, which I never got past the first two pages on.
Aileen started off as a Neopets character called Arunya. After I left Neo, I made her into a human character. Her basic plot was that she was possessed by a demon called Oni and was evil because of it. I later used Oni for a similar story with Kyle.
Warren came from me deciding I wanted to draw a White Rabbit type character.
Alexander existed to fill some gaps in Warren's backstory, such as how he got the seal placed on him in the first place. I decided to make him Warren's best friend because DRAMA~
Palette originates from my old job on Teripets, where she was one of my pets. Her basic design is based on Naoto from Persona 4, only furry.
Zhou Tai comes from Teripets as well. He's a character who's appeared a lot of times in the backstories of my pets. His hair is completely based on the main character of Hikaru no Go's hair.
The three clockwork keykeepers (Yui, Kerro, and Eriol), like Hammy, originate from Graffiti Kingdom, where I made them as doodles. Each one of them uses an element you can assign to your attacks in that game, and I made a keykeeper that specialized in each element. Their names are based on characters from Card Captor Sakura.
Lightning comes from the same universe as the keykeepers, and was originally just another sketch I did. He was originally a hell of a lot cuter than his current appearance, though he's always had that silly lightning shaped strand of hair.
The School Nurse originates from an old, incredibly shitty comic I did in middle school that was on par with Sonichu in how terrible and self-centered it was. The School Nurse was the main villain of the comic.
Ms. Dopple started out as a minor character from the comic the School Nurse is from, but later branched off into her own thing. She was the first of many Doppelganger characters, who all were pretty much just me drawing people and saying "ooh, I like your design, you can be a doppelganger now".
Crow was based off of a picture I stole off of Photobucket for an RP once. >_< I liked the design, so I designed a character around it, and decided to keep her around.
Infi was another self insert, and the most recent. She came about because of some silly chat I had in the cbox with 42, who was playing either the Wizard or Trump, I can't remember.
Kousei exists because there was a need for a lawyer in Rei no Kaado, and plot requirements meant that he needed to be the most underhanded lawyer in town.
Kyle was originally a character I made for a small spanish project I did a year ago. The project was a little booklet where terrible things happened to the character for a week straight. The terrible things and design of the character amused me enough that I made a whole character out of it, and for kicks, made his shadow Oni.
Tick and Tock were more "random character designs" things. The designs were basically: twins and clockwork. I ended up with what looked like Souji and Minato's lovechildren. What is wrong with my mind.
