Height: 177 cm/~5'9"
Weight: 62 kg/~136 lbs
Gender: Male
Race: Human (Avatar, unknown)
Home: Alexandria, Egypt
Franchise: Yu-Gi-Oh! Original Character
Physical Description
Adil manages to be on the outer ranges of average for his Egyptian ethnicity. There is no "tanning" about his skin, if he were to come to America most people would call him African American. His tone is of a more chocolate sort. He is on the lean side of things, being naturally rather skinny but balancing it out with a slight bit of muscling. His eyes are pronounced and of an almost jade green in color, seeming to pop due to his accented (but not feminine!) eyelashes.
His hair is black and long. His bangs have are a bit unruly looking, but manage to look rather good despite this. Aside form his bangs, his hair is almost always pulled back into a long ponytail that gets thicker near the bottom. When hanging straight down, it reaches most of the way down his lower legs. It is kept in place with four gold rings at the base of the ponytail.
Adil likes to wear dark blues and blacks. Generally the only change up that will be seen from this is in the form of accesories. Even then, he tends to go for darker or more muted colors. It is almost unheard of to see him out of his favorite trenchcoat. He also seems to like the "X" shape, as it can be seen accessorising almost every outfit he owns.
He comes to the Island in his favorite outfit. His shirt is a dark blue (arguably navy) tank top that has a good fit. Its not tight, but it is not overly loose either. He has on long dark grey pants of cargo fabric. They are far tighter at the waist than at the bottom. Over each knee is a dark blue knee pad bordered in yellow. It is attached by two black leather belt-like pieces which crisscross to form an X shape in the back. His pants are tucked into his boots, creating a fair bit of bundling given how they fit.
He wears black boots with high tops. At the top it is fashioned in a way that makes it seem as if it roles down. It is actually a piece stitched onto the top of the boot and is present a bit past his ankles end. They edges are yellow and there are alternating triangles of dark blue and dark red between. He has on a large choker with the same pattern as the tops of his boots. A small gold ball hangs from the bottom center of the choker, and from that is connected a somewhat hefty gold X.
His trenchcoat is of a very sturdy fabric and black. There are belt-like pieces near the bottom which he keeps done up. The buckles are gold Xs with a border. On each shoulder is a gold X with the center of the x resting on the center top of his shoulder. It has six round buttons that have raised Xs int he center of them. The belt piece that would keep his trenchcoat closed is almost never done up, leaving a fair bit of belt hanging down. The buckle for that is the same as the buckle on his sleeves, and the belt is kept on in part by the gold X stitched onto the back of the coat.
Weapons
Adil doesn't carry any weapons on him in the traditional sense. Striking him as odd compared to most of the people from his homeworld is the lack of a deck of Duel Monsters cards.
Abilities/Powers
Adil is unknowingly the avatar of the Egyptian god known as Anubis (Greek) or Anpu (Ancient Egyptian). While he is his own person as well, he is at the same time the unawakened form of Anubis/Anpu. Basically he represents the mortal aspect of a greater whole.
Locked away with the knowledge that he is a god are powers one might expect from a polytheistic deity. He'll never be all powerful, mind you, but he does have latent deity powers. His powers relate to the transition between life and death (moreso than death), judging, and balance. They are not defined, especially given that he hasn't woken. It should be noted that his knowledge of Ka and Ba are locked away in a similar fashion to the rest of his powers.
Skills
Adil is quite smart, being fluent in both Egyptian Arabic and English, the latter coming a close second due to it not being spoken as a standard in his home. He is quite good at hunches, and while he can't pick a liar out of a crowd he does seem good at understanding if someone is lying for a good reason. So if it's a white lie, it'll likely go completely over his head he's being lied to. He quite likes learning about things and reading, but that's where his interests tend to end. He prefers learning as opposed to doing and does rather poorly with hands on activities.
He actually has a rather decent understanding of Ancient Egyptian despite not having awakened to his status as an avatar. It is the kind of understanding a well versed student might have in the language, not a native speaker. And he's barely passable on the speaking part of it and makes the same mistakes made by any speaker of a dead language.
Personality
Adil seems the sort to be content to let most of life pass him by. He enjoys watching others but doesn't tend to interact much. He has a somewhat high fascination with the passage between life and death, and his greatest hobby seems to be researching it. He is quite fascinated with near death experiences, but not so much the occult as a whole.
He is a very decent sort of person, and committing an injustice in front of him is the sort of thing that makes it very hard for him to sit stil. He won't run around screaming justice at the top of his lungs, but he is not unknown for getting into some rather nasty debates on morality and ethics. He's the type that would rush into a dark alley to save someone, no matter how completely idiotic such a stunt may be. He's perhaps a bit too noble at times, his ability at picking up the motivations of actions is of no help in regards to this. However, when it doesn't involve right vs wrong, he is very laid back. He tends to have a "meh" reaction towards a lot of things, of the opinion it doesn't concern him.
History
Adil Solomon was born on May 1st in Alexandria to two parents, both whose ancestries were pure Egyptian as far back as the line culd be traced. Adil was the second child, but the first child had died before its first year and before Adil was born.
Adil's entire life has been pretty much without note. He was always very good in school, earning top marks. He did annoy a fair amount of the children, as he never seemed to have to study. On most days he could be seen reading books. Quite a few kids tried to bully him, but he always managed to be a step ahead of them. When he was having social interactions with his peers, it seemed to be filling the role of mediator.
When Industrial Illusions released Duel Monsters, he was already quite familiar with the original version fo the game. He learned the new rules as they came, but never bothered to even collect the cards. He had no interest in the big tournaments, missing such matchups as the final between the Japanese teenagers Yuugi Mutou and Katsuya Jounouchi.
He was probably the first person in his entire city to realize just what those monsters that showed up a short while back were. But he knew there was no way the Duel Disks could make the monsters real, so he hid like most of his town did. He actually managed to help a few people to safety once or twice.
Things settled down again after that, and life seemed to even out. Dimensional instabilities or something else managed to pull him to Dimension Island they day after a group of teenagers averted the end of Dimension Island via The Fall. About two weeks or so after that, he ended up meeting a girl named Anzu who seemed rather embarassed about her work uniform. He loaned her his trenchcoat, figuring the last time he would see her was when she returned it to him. He had no idea that his very existance irremovably positioned him in a much bigger plot...
Other
Adil functions the same way as the existing Egyptian god avatar characters do in Rei no Kaado. He's unique in that he hasn't awakened to his status as avatar just yet, a "luxury" afforded to him by not being represented by the god cards. If its not painfully clear, I don't use Pyramid of Light as canon (it has a Japanese dub, but it is considered non-canon).
This is a transfer from the Secret Character Applications over to the main approved boards - this is not a new application and therefore does not count against the daily limit for OCs. It is perhaps best referred to as a sort of revamp.
