"And that is odd how?" Cain said, his voice carrying traces of teasing. To most it would seem he'd lost what seriousness he'd had. Abel had enough knowledge gained after turning demon and had seen enough of Cain's true nature it would be unlikely he'd not realize Cain still had more than a taunting interest in the development, despite his following words, "If you're going to tell me that growing a backbone to your position is something you're worried about, little brother, then I believe we can call this conversation over."

"It wasn't just the words," Abel snarled in frustration. He calmed himself down enough to realize that Cain was actually interested in the situation beyond the taunts. "Some energy drained from Babel at the same time I said that, and it returned to the server after Lucifer left. I'm sure something in the server is using me for its own purposes."
He crossed his arms. "I don't think I like that very much."

Cain seemed pleased with himself as Abel snarled at him, and it didn't fade as Abel calmed himself down. While less angry than before, it remained that the demon king was upset with Cain's dodges.
"Then maybe you should figure out what it wants, little brother," Cain said with his trademark smile. It kept it's usual unsettling nature in contrast with the child's physical appearance, "When you won the War, you didn't absorb it into yourself. You merely took control of it. Giving your indecisiveness, and now Messiah's arrival, it's no wonder it's balking your control."
Cain looked towards the stairs where Seth had gone, "In fact, you should be grateful you decided to sow doubt in your "other self's" mind. If there is one thing Messiah has always had in advantage over you, it's doubtless dedication to his cause."
Cain looked back towards Abel, that ever present smirk still on his face. He tilted his head, an action that might have been endearing if not for the beyond his years expression and glint in his eyes, "I'd hate to see what would happen if your little plan to use Seth doesn't work giving Messiah's overall advantage over you."

Abel scowled at Cain's explanation. Once again something balked him because of his indecisiveness. He'd long become tired of such things. What would it take for him to gain the respect he needed? How much more did he need to sacrifice? He turned away from Cain to hide his expression of frustration.
"If Seth fails, then I will take care of Messiah myself," Abel snarled. "I think Messiah's head will be enough proof to Bel that I am worthy of his power."

Cain shrugged towards Abel's back at his reaction, well aware of the expression on his brother's face. Human or demon, Abel had never been very good at masking his emotions, at least not when it came to him.
"And yet you'd have no more idea of why it attempted to use you than before," Cain stated. He didn't wait for a response, opening the door and heading into the bedroom. He'd have it shut behind himself with that line as his parting words if Abel didn't stop him.

Abel made a sound of disapproval and walked into his own room. Worst part was he didn't think Cain was wrong. Even now he wasn't sure what to do to handle this. He needed to use his head.
He shifted into his demon form upon entering the room and sat down on his bed. It was easier for him to communicate with Babel when in this form, possibly because he wasn't extending effort to maintain a human form this way. Or possibly because Babel was less disgusted with him this way.
A spark of electricity danced across his horns, and he winced in pain. The server remained in contact, but he still couldn't reach the locked section of the server. It wasn't responding to his requests... in fact, it was pushing him out. He grasped his head as the electricity sparking around his horns intensified until it finally lept off with a crack. A large section of Abel's left horn fell and landed on his bed. He stared at the disembodied piece of himself, and held it up to his face before throwing it against the wall with a frustrated cry.
