Vinyl Scratch is a white unicorn with a dichromic blue mane (has streaks of a lighter blue shade). She has red eyes, which she keeps concealed behind unique shades, and the cutie mark on her flank is a backwards double quarter note (symbolizing her affinity for music).

Abilities/Powers
Being a unicorn, she has some magical ability. As far as we know, the extent of this magic seems to be light telekinesis (for example, moving the needle of a record player). However presumably to fit with her musical background, she can perhaps manipulate sound waves to an extent.
Skills
Vinyl has an affinity for music composition and mixing. She loves to mix a good beat.
Personality
Vinyl is a cool, confident pony. She makes sure everypony is having a good time. What's the point of a party if somepony isn't enjoying themselves? She'll be helpful to whoever she happens to be with.
Despite this chill exterior, though, get her flustered or embarrassed and she'll suddenly change: she'll avoid eye contact, mumble a bit and generally become uncomfortable with the situation.
History
Vinyl was born Vinyl Melody to a pair of musical ponies. They performed classical music (and were good friends with Octavia's family), and hoped to raise Vinyl to do the same. The white pony quickly became bored with this kind of music, though she did participate to satisfy her parents. However, she didn't develop a cutie mark for some time, which worried Mr. and Mrs. Melody.
In her early adolescence, one day she was messing around with a record player. She laid her hoof on the turntable, causing the record to spin on its axis, scratching it against the needle. Curious, Vinyl tried doing it again, getting different sounds from it. Suddenly, she was interested, continuing to play around with records to find an entirely new kind of sound. She found her love for mixing music and experimenting with melodies. She finally gained her cutie mark that day.
Her parents, though initially horrified at the scratching sound of the record player, came to accept her interest in the musical arts, even though it differed from their own tastes so much. They respected her new direction. Vinyl changed her name to Vinyl Scratch and took the stage name, DJ PON3. She did musical performances all throughout Equestria, from parties to simple gatherings, and even the odd fashion show. She'll gladly help out her good friends, like Rarity and Octavia.
Her dream is to DJ for a Wonderbolts show in Cloudsdale.
