Full Name: Big McIntosh
Nickname(s): Occasionally called Big Mac in casual conversation, though never in series proper due to potential copyright infringement
Age: Young adult
Height: Tall
Weight: Above average (all muscle)
Gender: Stallion
Race: Earth pony
Alliance: Good
Home: Ponyville, Equestria
Franchise: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Physical Description
Big McIntosh is a large and muscular-looking stallion and would probably be somewhat intimidating in appearance if he didn't pretty much always have his usual calm, laid-back look to him. His coat is crimson, his cropped tail and mane are a reddish blond, and his eyes are green. He has freckles on the sides of his face and a half-slice of green apple marked on his flank, and he's almost always seen with a yoke around his neck which he uses to pull the "saggy old plow" in the garden.
Weapons
Those hind legs of his are as good as any weapon.
Abilities/Powers
Big McIntosh is an Earth pony. And as an Earth pony, he has a special connection with the land enabling him with the instinctive ability to tend to the land and animals. His large mass and years of plowing and applebucking also make him incredibly strong (once shown strong enough to throw ponies in a dog-pile over the horizon), though he would never use his brute strength against anypony else unless he absolutely has to.
Skills
Mac's trained in the family business of growing and harvesting apples of various breeds, planting for optimal results and bucking the fruit off at just the right time of year. Aside from growing apples, Big McIntosh can bake various apple-based goods and knows how to crunch numbers when it comes to the finances earned from their apples and apple products as well as the expenses of maintaining the family farm. Aside from his farm-based skills, Big Mac is skilled at calmly and carefully analyzing whatever situation he's in, making sure he knows all the facts before jumping to any hasty conclusion.
Personality
Bic Mac is a calm, quiet, and laid back stallion, known to sit back with a somewhat lazy expression and take life as is. He's by no means lazy, of course. In fact, he's a very diligent, hardworking pony dedicating as much of his time and energy to the agricultural and business affairs of the family farm, Sweet Apple Acres, as he can within reason.
While Big Mac is no big talker, usually sticking to a "eeyup" or "nope" response when in conversation, he is surprisingly intelligent. The elder of his two little sisters, Applejack, has at least once complained about his "fancy mathematics". He is also reasonably wise, knowing where the line gets drawn when it comes to ponies' personal and social limits. This trait is most obvious when he knew from the very beginning that his stubborn sister's attempt to harvest the entire orchard without help would end in tears. While never comfortable in highbrow sophisticated environments and terrible when it comes to talking to mares on a romantic level, he's an honest and dependable friend to have.
|He also has something of a guilty pleasure for dolls. Eeyup, he didn't even need Twilight Sparkle's "want it, need it" spell to love that cute little Smarty Pants. It... just made him a little crazier and gung-ho over it.|
History
Born the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Apple, Big McIntosh inherited the family farm of Sweet Apple Acres in his late adolescence (when his younger sisters Applejack and Applebloom were preadolescent and a baby, respectively) after his parents passed on. Mac was a physically and socially awkward young colt (and being the last foal in class to earn his cutie mark didn't help much), but he grew into a strong and capable stallion. When a young teenage Applejack expressed desire to leave the farm for the city life with their Aunt and Uncle Orange, Big McIntosh was upset to see her leave them but couldn't bring himself to stop her from doing something she really wanted to do. Her absence, fortunately, only lasted a few days, and he and Granny Smith were happy to learn the filly was coming straight back home. Once Applejack was of legal age, Big Mac signed her on as a legal co-owner of the apple farm.
No more than a few shorts years later, Ponyville was chosen as the location of the next Summer Sun Celebration when Princess Celestia would raise the run on the day of the Summer Solstice. The extended Apple Family decided to hold their family reunion around the solstice in light of the celebration, and the entire family (Big Mac included) were there to welcome the princess's personal student, Twilight Sparkle, when she came to oversee prep work for the festivities. After Mac's sister Applejack, along with four other ponies, defeated Celestia's sister-turned-villain Nightmare Moon, Twilight became a permanent resident and librarian of Ponyville.
Nearing the following Applebuck Season (the time of the year when the Apple family harvests its crops), Applejack placed a bet on Mac that she could get all the Golden Delicious apples into the barn by lunchtime and won; Mac was forced to walk down Stirrup Street in one of Granny Smith's girdles. Shortly afterwards once Applebuck Season began, he had injury to his torso which is widely assumed to be related to the lost bet. With Big McIntosh out of commission, Applejack stubbornly attempted to harvest the entire orchard by herself, which she failed at spectacularly as Mac feared from the start. Big McIntosh would take full care of the farm any time Applejack was away, such as when the mare and her friends were transplanting one of their trees to an Apple family sister farm in Appleloosa or were away at the Grand Galloping Gala.
When the chaos spirit named Discord free and spread his madness throughout Equestria, Big McIntosh was reduced to a burrowing dog-brained thing who licked everypony. He was fortunately returned to normal when Applejack and her friends used the Elements of Harmony to undo all of Discord changes and re-petrify him. Shortly after those events, Big Mac was out performing field duties when he spotted his youngest sister Applebloom and her friends Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle fighting violently over Twilight's old doll Smarty Pants and went to break the fight up. What he didn't realize until too late was that the doll was enchanted with a spell that made anyone look at it overcome with a desperate need for it, and he quickly got caught up in the madness. By the time the whole town was out of control, Princess Celestia came and undid the spell. |After all was said and done, Mac waited until everyone left and secretly claimed Smarty Pants for himself.|
Other
I have no major plans for Big McIntosh in Dimensional Clash, though I am tempted to pair him up with one of the Mane Six if one of their RPers and I would come to a mutual agreement.
