You continue to be DAVE STRIDER. You continue to be on DIMENSIONAL ISLAND. You also continue to be a CHILL BRO. What you don't continue to be, however, is ALONE. You're accompanied, currently, by your friend, JADE HARLEY.
After offering to show her around all of the brilliant, extravagant places of the ISLAND, you decided the best to take her to was the local mall. A rather mundane choice, when you really think about it. Surely, everyone had been to a mall in their time. Island mall or not, you doubted they changed much. Whether on an island sitting in the middle of various dimensions, or in a small town in Texas, malls were a significant constant. And, oh, they were everywhere.
Except, as you understand, for Jade's island. While you weren't sure on the exacts of its size, you were pretty certain she lived on it alone, with her dog. Even her grandfather had been killed at a young age by a well-meaning troll, though you were unaware of the latter bit. The point is, it was highly unlikely she had a grand mall just sitting in front of her home.
That was one reason you were somewhat glad Bec Noir had gone to her land. It wasn't that you were happy that she had to see you die, of course not. That would have been incredibly rude of you. But rather, Jade was the one friend who really understood your time spent timehopping alone. Because she had been. Alone, isolated on her island, her entire life. Sans Becquerel, of course. Either way, she understood, and that was cool.
It was why you chose here to take her, aside from the fact that you were almost certain she didn't have one. Because, as you understand, malls are always loaded with people, hustling and bustling, especially this one. This mall is always so packed, so full, you almost find it somewhat intoxicating. Regardless, you find it to be the best location to begin your island trek.
You'd covered her eyes a bit away from the mall, in part to preserve the surprise, in part because that's what people did in films. Either way, upon reaching the mall and removing them, you are, for once, silent. You decide to let Harley react before saying anything.
