Physical Description
I could say look at ye olde profile without wings, but I'll be professional. Rainbow Dash is a cyan blue pony with a rainbow colored mane and tail. Her eyes, not discussed last time, are a deep violet. She has a rainbow colored lightning bolt coming from a thundercloud upon her flank, her cutie mark. Once upon a time, Rainbow thought this meant she was destined to be a speed demon. However, after Pinkie took her wings, this was later clarified (retconned) to be Rainbow's ability to move on easily after tragedy and endure the greatest of storms. There is some scar tissue around her cutie mark, where it was literally cut off before, but it has healer. Her wings, what she was once proud of, are now gone. In place are stumps, looking much like a deformity, she hides with her Wonderbolts hoodie. She always wears this in town, but goes naked when on Applejack's farm.
Weapons
She never really used weapons before and she probably never will.
Abilities/Powers
Without her wings, a lot of what Rainbow could do is gone. Regular Earth Pony now. No wings, no speed in the air. She has, however, started building up her running. Maybe she'll be able to run as fast as she could fly?
Skills
Rainbow has learned how to swim exceptionally well without her wings. She's also gotten better at running, even winning the Running of the Leaves on what were supposed to be injured hooves.
Personality
Rainbow is a lot more humble after the loss of her wings. She's still a good representation of the Element of Loyalty, loyal to a tee and unwilling to betray her friends. Even when Pinkie tried to kill her, she wanted to realize WHY Pinkie was trying to kill her and wasn't satisfied without the answer. However, while she can be brash and competitive, it's a lot more downplayed without her wings. No more will she claim to be able to do things super fast and she's already super cool being an honorary member of the Wonderbolts. Instead she's a lot more simple. She's hard working, having become so due to working with Applejack, and is learning to become resourceful, yet still knows how to kick back and have a good time. Even losing the right to fulfill her dreams did not kick Rainbow down and she is still able to enjoy life to the fullest.
History
A Precious Rainbow is one of the unofficial sequels to the dread gurofic known as Cupcakes, so we have to start there. In Cupcakes, Rainbow Dash visits Pinkie Pie's shop to help her bake cupcakes. Drugging Rainbow with one, they end up in the basement and Rainbow is bound to a table, where Pinkie reveals Rainbow is going to help her via gathering special ingredients... of which Rainbow is. Without going into too much detail, this psychotic version of Pinkie Pie mutilates Rainbow by cutting off her wings and cutie mark, even electrocuting her. It is by the time she is ready to harvest Rainbow's organs that the transition from Cupcakes to A Precious Rainbow begins.
Before Pinkie can begin her harvest, Applejack arrives. Seeing her best friend torturing another of her best friends, Applejack demands Pinkie put the knife down, but is forced to kill when Pinkie charges her with the knife. Rushing Rainbow to the hospital, the nurse ponies are able to save Rainbow, but unfortunately cannot attach her wings. As a result, Rainbow loses everything she was born for. This loss devastates her, but she chooses not to let it destroy her, but instead move on from it. Thanks to some strings pulled by Rarity, Twilight, and Princess Celestia, the Wonderbolts come to hear of Rainbow's plight and, in good spirit, fashion a Wonderbolts hoodie for her to wear and make her an honorary member of their team, even though she can never fly with them.
After she heals, Rainbow goes and does some soul searching at an inn. Her night is haunted by recollections of the incident and she realizes she is alone and should've taken one of the ponies up on their offer. So even in the middle of the night, she treks to Applejack's and the other lets her in. She stays there for a while, but a Cutie Mark Crusader sleepover and natural filly curiosity leads in Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle seeing exactly what happened to Rainbow. Needless to say, this did not go over well with Applejack, who pretty much made sure the girl's parents knew what happened. Rainbow, however, decided to go visit the girls, though for some reason did not visit Sweetie Belle. Maybe she figured Sweetie Belle didn't really need to be visited as she wasn't as attached to Rainbow as Scoots was? And Applebloom was there, so it was simple enough too.
Either way, it was from Scootaloo that Rainbow learned of the grandeur that was swimming. She came to realize it felt just like flying. Before then, Fluttershy gave her the idea her cutie mark meant something other then flying. After that, seeing Rainbow swimming during a thunderstorm of all things, Applejack was the one who felt it was that no matter what storms hit Rainbow, she'd come through. During a stroll in the night, Rainbow learned from Princess Luna why Pinkie turned out a killer, getting her answer. During the time they were planning Pinkie's surprise party, Pinkie had been told by the naive Spike that her friends hated her. He was cornered, he was scared, and he wanted gemstones, so he told her what she explicitly demanded to hear.
Problem was this broke Pinkie. Even after Pinkie realized they were just planning a surprise party, that insane figment remained buried in Pinkie's mind, growing and growing, until she started killing... until the events of that night. Princess Luna urged Rainbow not to feel responsible, as she could not have known, and asked Rainbow what she would do now that she could no longer manage the skies. It was then Rainbow decided to help Applejack run Sweet Apple Acres. During her birthday celebration, Rainbow was instructed further in swimming by Ponyville's swimming variant of the Wonderbolts... yeah, copout, but whatever. Rainbow, however, still felt she needed to prove she could live without her wings, and while Applejack said that Rainbow needed prove nothing because she'd keep running no matter what, the word running triggered a reaction in Rainbow.
She felt she had to win the Running of the Leaves to prove herself and challenged Applejack to a good, honest rematch. The latter accepted, but started having bad dreams of Rainbow getting hurt due to running on her injured hooves, thus choosing not to run in the race. This, however, hurt Rainbow and she ran from the farm. She was gonna run in it whether Applejack liked it or not, Twilight confirmed, so in the end, Applejack did show up to make amends and race Rainbow. Earning her forgiveness, Applejack raced the former pegasus and came in second, but not on purpose. Rainbow proves herself as a true earth pony and breaks through the storm caused to her by Pinkie Pie, fully becoming herself again. From there on, things do unfortunately get a little emo again though.
In a sequel to A Precious Rainbow known as The Cupcake Killer, Rainbow experiences survivor's guilt due to the fact that she was the one to survive from all those ponies who were killed by the crazed Pinkie. Many have chosen to forget what a happy go lucky pony she was and focus on what she became, a killer. Rainbow felt it was her fault for planning the surprise party that turned Pinkie into what she was and wanted to bring closure to everything. She had an idea to build a memorial to those lost, including Pinkie. Despite what happened to her, she still viewed Pinkie was one of her best friends. However, even her other friends said that mourning the killer next to the victims was a horrible idea. Pinkie had to be the Cupcake Killer because... that's what she turned into.
Princess Luna did build a seperate grave for Pinkie, however, and Gummy was bequeathed to Rainbow by the Cakes. So in the end, she finally got her closure and returned to normal. The last set for this universe's Rainbow is Apple of Her Eye, which sets this Rainbow's love interest as Applejack. Rainbow finally gets to help Applejack with farm chores, but Granny Smith notices Rainbow has feelings for Applejack. Rainbow shows them with a kiss and, when Applejack doesn't respond, gets panicky like any homosexual would when they confess their feelings to a friend only to find out they're heterosexual, homophobic or not. But when Applejack finds Rainbow, she returns the feelings, seals the deal, and the two live happily ever after. And that's the full history of Precious!Rainbow.
