Equestria... a land full of harmony, peace, and (for lack of a better word) ponies. One such pony, however, was showing off to a certain group looking for their special marks. At special request, Rainbow Dash was asked to perform the Sonic Rainboom. Truely such a feat was hard, but practice made perfect and Rainbow's brash and boastful nature kept her from backing down. After performing it once, technically twice, what was the harm in performing it a third time? However, as she soared down towards the ground, reaching the speeds necessary to boom up, a sudden wormhole within space-time appeared. Needless to say, the dashing pegasus, even with all her speed, could not avoid the rift in time and was thus pulled in. Appearing somewhere in the sky, she saw the ground approaching and quickly pulled up.
The rainbow exploded outward, in a sudden shockwave that sent some people falling to the ground. Trees shook violently, but did not fall. Leaves did get thrased off, however, and quite a few were actually left bare at the end of it. The pegasus had no time to take in the scenery yet, however, as she had to work off the rest of her speed, and did so in her usual style of arcing about in the sky and creating a rainbow. Once she did, however, her eyes widened in shock. She didn't think she was in Ponyville anymore, to say the least. And the park, known for its frequent rifts, was absolutely full of them.
"Where am I?! What happened to Ponyville?!"

Michael and Aya were racing; something that Michael didn't typically do. However, he had energy to burn and Aya was right there. He still hadn't met back up with Marisa and Alice, but he was certain that they were fine.
Michael closed his eyes. Aya had already done the same and they were flying with no care whatever. His mind started wandering a bit. 'Haah... I really have to thank Ellie next time I see her; that show is actually really cool... about 20% cooler than I thought it would be... heeheehee...' Michael had checked out a certain show after Ellie had referenced it in his meetup with her. He was rather fond of the Rainbow-maned pony; she reminded him quite a bit of his current flying companion.
Oh, if only Michael knew exactly what was going to happen...

The pony blinked, then grinned nervously. "I-I know. I was really hoofing it this time. I bet I actually went so fast I zoomed to the other side of the world or... something like that." Rainbow Dash wasn't as intelligent as Twilight Sparkle, everyone knew that, and even she knew that line of thinking was stupid. Something had happened... one of those weird circular things had opened during her performance and sucked her in. And if they could've sucked her in...
"Oh my gosh! What if they got to the others as well?!" One of the things that defined Rainbow Dash was her loyalty. Even if she was bold and somewhat arrogant, she had great compassion for them. Quickly abandoning worries for her own predicament, she took to the air and proceeded to fly in an attempt to search... only to forget to heed the air around her and crash straight into Gensokyo's fastest tengu. Now usual collisions like this would result in disaster, but while Aya had her youkai heritage to thank for her survivability, Rainbow Dash had to thank the ungodly endurance she naturally possessed as a cartoon character, where sadism could be comedy. Still, it did knock the wind out of her and she had to recouperate a bit, giving the two ample opportunity to identify her.

Aya was knocked back slightly by the cyan missile that struck her. "Oof!" Compared to her collision with "Immovable Object Ed" back in Canopy City, this one was peanuts, but it still dazed her a bit.
Michael, on the other hand, was just floating there, in a sort of stunned silence. If one were able to read his mind, they would've heard 'Abawha? ...Magenta eyes, Cyan coat, Rainbow-colored...HOLY SHIT!' which would've then been followed up by a very unmasculine fanboyish squee. Michael, not even thinking, flew over to Rainbow and hugged her tightly. He held it for a few seconds before his mind snapped back to reality. "A-ah! C-crap... S-sorry!" He let go of Rainbow and flew back a little ways, blushing profusely in embarrassment.

Rainbow Dash groaned lightly, stars fluttering about her eyes. Shaking it off, she was suddenly aware of a weird warmth around her. Looking back, she noticed the boy hugging her. As the cool gal she was, she didn't usually like to be sappy unless it was with her closest friends, the other five ponies, so there was no way she wanted someone she didn't know with their arms wrapped around her. However, no pony in Equestria had an ultra violent attitude. Dash was the closest to being any sorts of violent whatsoever, but even then, her irritation manifested itsself in the form of asking, "What d'you think you're doing?!" And when Michael let go, all was well with the world again. Except... what was he?
Curiously, Rainbow Dash tried to figure out what he was. However, not even Twilight Sparkle knew some of the mysterious creatures that laid within Equestria. Rainbow Dash herself surely wasn't going to know any that laid outside. She wasn't like her best friend Fluttershy, in that she was going to dart around the issue looking for the best way to word it. True to her character, she frankly asked, "What are you anyway? I've never seen anything like you before."

Michael, blush still gracing his cheeks, managed to stammer out, "I-i'm a human... i-it doesn't s-surprise me that you d-don't know; there a-aren't any h-humans in your w-world." He thought to himself 'Ah, jeez, I sound like Fluttershy right now...' Michael closed his eyes, took a few deep breaths, managed to calm himself and his blush disappeared. "Haah... My name's Michael, by the way. Michael Neilsen."
Aya then chimed in "I'm a Crow Tengu. A sort of demon." Aya then flew around Rainbow in a few seconds, snapping pictures with her camera. "But I've never seen something like you before. This'll make for a great article!" Aya then stopped and extended her hand to Rainbow.
"I'm Aya Shameimaru! Newspaper reporter extraordinaire!"

"Human?" In actuality, she had heard the term before. Princess Celestia might've mentioned it. It was a farcry though, and she had never seen the race before this moment, so it definently made sense that she didn't know what he was. She could definently tell his personality though. He sounded like Fluttershy, stuttering about nervously. It didn't annoy her because she was used to it. Hell, thanks to Twilight, her and Fluttershy were as close as could be. So that didn't bother her too much. However, there was the other one. Crow tengu? She knew about crows, so what was the tengu at the back for? What did it even mean? A sort of demon? The silly bird was deluded. Demons were red and mean, but she seemed like a nice person. And then she pulled out that camera. At that moment, Rainbow knew she couldn't be a demon.
"Hehe... well of course not. After all, there's nobody else out there that's anywhere near being like me." Even if she was a nice mare, Rainbow Dash was still rather prideful. She had no idea the sorts of possibilities due to dimensional polarities. Aya herself was more like the pony then she could've ever realized. But she was a good sport, for the most part, and... put her hoof in Aya's hand. She couldn't really take it, after all. "The name's Rainbow Dash, fastest pegasus in all of Equestria!"

The instant Rainbow referred to herself as the "Fastest Pegasus in all of Equestria," Michael's eyes shot open. He though to himself 'Oh... shit... I can see where this is going, and I don't know if I like it...'
Aya, on the other hand, smiled a grin ear to ear and shook Rainbow's hoof. "Funny you should say that... I'm the fastest flyer in all of Gensokyo."
Michael internally facepalmed, though he was smiling on the outside. '...Knew it...'

A smirk crept onto Rainbow's face. She wasn't a trash talker, but the idea of someone who was supposedly the fastest in her world caused her competetive senses to tingle quite a bit. Thank god for the lack of a certain hedgehog in the area. "Oh really? How about you and I race around this park and see who's the fastest?" Not even a total change in environment could stem her urges. The drive to best the best conquered all. And Rainbow had full belief that her friends were, and would be, alright. Odds are they were still in Ponyville after all.

Aya's smirk grew even wider, if that were possible, and she said, "You're on!" She tossed her camera to Michael, saying "Mike! Hope your shutter finger is as fast as it was before; you're taking the finish photo."
Michael almost dropped Aya's camera, but caught it and said, "Got it! Here'll be the finish line." Michael walked over to an open area in the park and set a spellcard down on the ground. A magic circle erupted into the air above it. "Okay!" Michael's previous nervousness was all but gone. "One lap around the park. The spell circle will catalogue who gets there first, but I'll take a picture, too."
Aya flew to the starting line. "You ready?"

Any fear Rainbow Dash might've held was instantly disapparated. She was back in familiar territory. At the starting line of a race, she felt like a queen. Her love stemmed from the first moment she had created a Sonic Rainboom and, from that day forward, she knew she lived for speed. Her cutie mark showed it, the lightning bolt striking through the cloud. She grinned, an almost wicked grin, as the rules were set. Normally she had to tie her wings behind her back in order to race against her friends, whenever they wished to race. Fluttershy would've been an exception were it not so obvious that she had no interest to race whatsoever, so it was mostly against Applejack and, on rare occassions, Twilight herself.
But this Aya character was a bit like her. She may not be a pegasus, but she had wings. She could fly. And both of them were primp and prepped with wings raised in the air. It was a duel of the faster fliers. And when Aya asked if she was ready to take into the sky like the full born flier she was, her answer came without hesitation. "I was born ready."

Aya laughed heartily. "That's what I like to hear! Alright Mike!"
Michael stood at the point. "Ready... Set..." Michael then snapped his fingers, amplifying the sound so it sounded like a track gun.
And the race was on.
After the two took off, Michael activated a spell that pulled objects from a storage spell. He grabbed some bottles of water and various foods and set them aside for when the race was finished.
Michael stood with his finger on the camera shutter; he smirked and said to himself "I can think of a great many people who would kill to be in my position right now... heheheh..."

The minute she heard the gunshot, Rainbow shot forth. Blazing forward faster then that of a bullet, she looked to her side to see if Aya was eating her cloud particles only to see that the Tengu was, in fact, keeping up with her. Whistling, impressed, she exerted more energy into her speed. Naturally, however, it was harder to accelerate due to the trees. She had to swerve around them and tried to build up speed in a snake like fashion. The park was blurring by, but Rainbow Dash would never give up. Defeat was something she refused to accept, after all, and she hated to lose.

While Aya wasn't the most competitive individual one would ever meet, she did have a reputation to uphold! She had no plans to lose to Rainbow, at least... not without giving the Pegasus the toughest challenge ever.
Aya was quite a dextrous flyer, snaking around trees, sometimes even flying through the branches (danmaku dodging skills helped for that); before long, she saw the finish line coming, Michael at the ready with the camera. Aya, neck-and-neck with Rainbow, poured on a final burst of speed, attempting to claim victory.

Rainbow could tell Aya was giving it her all. That's what she liked to see. However, she didn't dare try to trip the bird up. She had seen her show off, and while she didn't say anything, she was envious of the crow tengu's ability to dodge those branches like they were nothing. If she had tried something like that, it would've cost her the race, not to mention it would've hurt like a bitch. However, as Aya seemed to pour on the speed, Rainbow herself did as well. She wasn't going to lose here. She couldn't lose! The fate of the world depended on it! Well... of course it didn't, but to Rainbow Dash, her hatred for losing sometimes made it feel like that way. "Come oooon..."
