The minute she opened it up, the information from it seemed to pour into her brain. And what unwanted information it was. If there was a Hell, Rainbow Dash currently found herself in it as she saw who was supposed to be her best friend literally torturing her to death, mutilating and maiming her. When the images ended, she fell onto her side in a sort of fetal position. While Rainbow Dash was the paragon to boldness in Equestria, she was still rather young, legal age withstanding, and was subject to sometimes feeling afraid. This showed itsself in her flying competition, especially when she had to compete with the higher arrogance that was Rarity Unicorn, but she had managed to overcome that, especially when she needed to save Rarity AND her dreamteam from certain death. But this... this was just too much. Who... who could've dreamed up such a concept? What kind of sick freak would've created this?

When Rainbow dropped to the ground, something inside of Michael's mind snapped. Though his face looked completely passive on the outside, his mind was roiling with unbound fury. How dare someone do that, especially to her... The mental block preventing Michael from accessing his "Sync" ability shattered amidst the rage.
Back in Michael's Gensokyo, Yukari said, "Hmhmhm... so he's finally got it, now does he? I'll have to send that Pegasus something nice as thanks later..."
Back in the Park, Aya woke from her sleep when she felt a huge amount of power emanating from Michael. What she saw, though, made her jaw drop and her wings flare in shock. Hanging from Michael's left arm was a very familiar-looking parasol and on his head was a very, very familiar hat. Sure, they were transparent, like they were only kind of there, but...
Michael's mind wasn't even operating properly. Completely unaware of what he was doing, he opened a gap using Yukari's borrowed power. From the first, he pulled a book with the title "The Light in the Darkness" and put it into his bag. He then opened another one and launched his hand through it. Aya's Youkai ears heard the tell-tale sound of fist meeting face. Aya, slightly scared now, took off in a flash; she needed to find Momiji and tell her about this!
Michael's mind slowly returned to reality. As it did so, his Sync with Yukari ended. The transparent hat and parasol vanished; Michael went down on his knees, his strength sapped from the Sync's draining nature. Shaking his head, he muttered "Ugh... w-what hit me?"
Seeing Rainbow on the ground, he snapped back to attention. Like before, not even thinking, he picked Rainbow up onto her haunches and threw his arms around her in a hug, thinking that she'd need the comfort. "Rainbow, I am so, so sorry you had to read that..."

Rainbow was too busy trying to get her mind straightened out to notice Michael's power. Ok, clearly someone wrote that to get a laugh out of her misery. A very sick, sadistic, backhanded, fucked up... as the profane, alien word hit her mind, she cringed. She had never thought that way before. It was kinda odd, but all the same, she found herself longing to not be thinking such things. Either way, whoever wrote that clearly didn't know Pinkie Pie. After all, the other pony was a carefree girl. Even if she was a little hyper... and random... and most definently... crazy... oh god, what if it was possible? Pinkie was too happy. She was happy to an undeniable tee. Wait a minute... Rainbow had been in Pinkie's room before. It was a nice, cozy place, not a madhouse like the story had depicted.
It's just a book, Rainbow Dash found herself thinking. Just a stupid book. It's made up, that's all. Somebody thought they could scare me... oh who am I kidding? Dear Celestia, why would they do that? Who could think up such a thing... and how could they make me so paranoid? Well the original story had been written for a competition of sorts, and no doubt its writing style would've held it back, but the mental scenes portrayed were still scarring. She barely moved when she felt herself being pulled back onto her haunches... until she remembered Michael was there. She had to get a grip. She was Rainbow Dash. She couldn't let herself look weak in front of somebody she didn't know too well. "Awww no, don't worry about it. It's just a stupid book," she said with a chuckle, though her chuckle sounded nervous.

Michael pulled back a bit, though his hands still didn't leave Rainbow's shoulders. A sort of deflated look appeared on his face and he said, "...I suppose I should probably explain. That... abomination of a story came from my world." Michael, putting as much venom into the word abomination as he could, fired a large danmaku bullet at the book, completely annihilating it.
"This is gonna sound weird, so bear with me for a minute. Like I said, this world is a place where all worlds meet. My world is kept mostly separate from them, though; Gensokyo is the only one that connects to mine. In my world, Gensokyo is the location of an extremely popular game series. Your world, though, is a popular kids' cartoon in my world; it's extremely popular... even among older people... heheh... it's kinda funny; among you and your friends, you're probably one of, if not the most popular."
Michael laughed again, it sounding kind of hollow. "The Wonderbolts have nothing on you, as far as fans go... Anyway, I'm digressing. I know this stuff because of the cartoon; when your friend Pinkie Pie had that thing on her birthday, someone in my world cracked a joke that she was kinda like a bipolar serial killer... and that joke spiraled into that story, Cupcakes... It's horrific."
Michael thought for a few moments and said, "You don't have to hide the way you feel from me, Rainbow; I'm not going to judge you... and I guarantee that if you don't let it out, it won't stop haunting you; dreams are evil like that..."

Rainbow Dash heard the venom in his words. He seemed to know something about this weird book she had just read. Sure enough, he finally went into explanation. The worlds were different, but could sometimes be seen through other mediums. Now the tricky part was worlds with humans... it could be argued they could all see and experience the same things. But the land of Equestria, which did not have the same conveniences, probably would not have seen the other worlds through other things. It was currently uncertain if Equestria even had any technology, as TV or computers had never really shown up. So a lot of it went over her head, but what she did know was that he evidentally knew about her along with a ton of other people. For people like Fluttershy, that might've been Hell, but for her, to know she was more popular then the Wonderbolts and even her other friends, it would've made her grin... were she not in her current state.
Rainbow Dash remembered the thing Pinkie had on her birthday too well. It was her who had to get the crazy pony, after all. Blasted wench put up a hell of a fight too, but never had she pulled out a knife on her. Still, it was a time she showed a lot of her craziness, but it seemed every pony had gone crazy once, twice if they counted the meeting with Discord, where she found herself stuck on one cloud thinking it was her beloved city of Cloudsdale, according to Twilight and Rarity, the latter of which seemingly having an issue of her own with a rock and a diamond. She shook her head lightly. Michael's offer was tempting, but... oh who was she kidding. Her nervous grin fell. "Well... not like I really think Pinkie Pie's anywhere near that dangerous, but she can be crazy at times and... it's just kinda worrying. It's nothing really."

Michael still didn't remove his hands from Rainbow's shoulders; instead, he shot her a look that practically screamed 'Really? Do you really mean that?' with as much doubt as possible.

Rainbow Dash tried to match his stare with determination. Her eyes did not waver, her posture did not falter, her... oh fuck it! "Ok, ok, I am utterly convinced that my best friend might be some kind of lunatic! I know I shouldn't be, she's just... Pinkie Pie! That's how she's always been and nobody's ever disappeared before, so I don't get it!"

Michael, though his facial expression didn't change in the slightest, took a brief moment to think to himself, 'There we go; now we're making progress. Seriously, getting this girl to open up is as hard as pulling teeth...'
He then went back to the hug like before, saying "I wouldn't worry too much, you'll make yourself sick if you do. I'm sure it'll be fine; that story just tends to have that kind of effect on people... though I'm sure that, because you know Pinkie personally, it's all that much worse. I don't know if she's here in Dimensional Island or how much of that story is true (because, after all, one only ever sees one side of a show.), but I have your back, and you can count on that."

Well he must have known her well to persist on. After all, Rainbow Dash was tough. She didn't want to have to open up. But he had pushed it enough. Though his words didn't make her feel any better. They were comforting, but they were assuming that Pinkie Pie was a lunatic. She can't be. That's just too out there, she thought. Like he said... just some sick freak who wanted to make fun of Pinkie thinking we were breaking our friendship with her. What a jerk, making her look like a killer... that's just mean of him is what it is.

Michael broke the hug, not wanting to come across as clingy or to make Rainbow uncomfortable. "...Feel a bit better?"
Michael's mind started to process exactly what he had been doing during his Synched state...Ah! He remember gapping another book, and if it was what he remembered... 'Jackpot!'
He pulled the book out of his bag and looked at the title. "The Light in the Darkness..." Michael smiled; it was.
Holding it out, Michael said to Rainbow, "Here, read this; you'll feel a lot better."

Rainbow Dash was glad he broke away. Too much affection got a little too mushy. Even if it was a very scary prospect. However, he reached into his bag and pulled out another book, thus recommending it to her and saying it would help her feel better. Her eyebrows arched a bit, as it was a book that did this to her in the first place. But she decided to trust him and thus opened the book. The absorption began. At first, it seemed he was lying to her. She gasped as she saw herself get murdered again. But she heard someone suffering and looked up. Pinkie Pie was there too?! It was then she realized that Pinkie Pie must have been seeing it from a different perspective. A dream! And then the scene shifted.
She was flying home from a Wonderbolts show, the best kind of course, when a scream broke her concentration. She went into Pinkie Pie's room. It looked normal, as expected. She was worried, searching around the house for Pinkie Pie, until she found her in the kitchen. She was throwing away cutlery. She was afraid. Dash confronted her and she eventually broke down and explained she was trying to save Dash and the others from herself. She had dreamed she killed Dash. She remembered the time she went crazy from before, when she thought the others had broken their friendship. Dash comforted her, stayed by her. It was quite sweet. And then she even had the other ponies help run the shop while she was sleeping.
The ending was a bit cheesy. Pinkie Pie exclaimed her love for Dash and Dash replied she was into stallions. Ok, a minor error on the writer's part. She was glad to know, despite her popularity, personal things about her such as her orientation remained a mystery to all. And it wasn't that stallions were bad, she did like them too, but Pinkie Pie was a nice pony. However, she was also fairly certain the other ponies were into stallions and was not willing to push it. After Pinkie's friendship report, Rainbow Dash sighed with relief as the world returned and grinned. "Yeah... that's more like it. And Pinkie was a lot more in character there then she was in the other, messed up book. I could see her throwing away a lot of important tools like that at least."

Michael smiled. "Heh. This story, amongst the fans of your show, is considered to be the antithesis to Cupcakes. Really sweet, friendshippy stuff. ...I don't remember exactly where I got it from... ah... or, for that matter, why my hand is kinda sore right now... I don't remember much of what happened right after you went down... Bah! I'll muse on it later."
Michael then got an idea. He looked around, not seeing Aya anywhere; that puzzled him, but he figured he'd learn about that later. "Say, Rainbow, wanna come with me? I'm heading back towards the forest on the outskirts of the City. Remember that girl, Marisa, I mentioned? She, I, and a friend of ours named Alice have a house there. I haven't seen them around, but you're welcome to stay with us if you want... well, if you don't already have a place to stay..."
Michael then said, "I'm sure they'd be willing to help us find your friends."

Rainbow Dash could see what he and her fans were talking about. This was a definite contrast to the hell she had managed to put herself through reading one single book. She wasn't even sure how she managed that. So these books were magic... maybe that was how Twilight read all her books. Celestia knows reading them the old fashioned way was a boring thing to do, so it would be easier to just absorb everything in. That was kinda cool the way it worked. Now as long as Rainbow avoided a certain series that supposedly had vampires in it.
Michael then offered her a place to stay. Her eyebrows arched a bit. Despite all his help and coolness, she barely knew him. One of the things every pony learned as a little filly, after all, was stranger danger. After all, strangers could do horrible things to anybody who let them. But he had proven himself nice and she was in an alien world. At this point, it'd be better to take whatever help she could get and not be alone. Plus they could evidently help Rainbow find her friends. "Sure. Better then staying somewhere I'm unfamiliar with."

The snarky, somewhat self-righteous part of Michael's mind made the comment to him 'A lot of people would kill to be in your position right now.' Michael shot a thought back at that part of his mind... 'Shut the fuck up, willya? I'm being a good person.'
Michael said, "Great! Okay, follow me; the place is this way..."
Michael jumped into the air and started floating. After gathering up the stuff from before, he started flying towards the forest.
