Void's First Target

No one noticed when a portal appeared high above Void City, seeing as it was commonplace for them to appear anywhere and everywhere. Out of it dropped Philantus, who spread his leathery, black set of wings to glide on the warm air currents with ease. He pressed his other set close to his back as the portal closed once more, and continued to glide as he gazed down upon Void City. He'd only been in it once, and only for a minute. Cyclone had been testing his jumping and gliding skills by using the rooftops, so Philantus hadn't been able to see much of anything.

But now, the sight that was spread out before him made his mouth fall open in awe. It was so big, so bright, so beautiful; the exact opposite of where he'd lived his whole life. In fact, had it not been for the training drilled into him from birth, Philantus would likely have forgotten all about his mission. But soon it came back to him, and shook himself from his daze as his gaze became searching instead of admiring. "Let's see... Cyclone said the Plaza was a large street filled with shops..." he muttered thoughtfully.

It took him a few minutes, but Philantus finally managed to find what he was looking for. A little impatient and eager to get a closer look at this new wonder, he folded his black wings down against his back and dropped into a dive. The rush of falling was exhilirating, and part of him never wanted to pull up out of it. However, common sense won over, and Philantus spread his black wings at the last minute. They caught the air like a parachute and lifted him up a few feet, letting him glide just above the rooftops of the stores.

Numerous people screamed, gasped, and pointed at him, making him frown in his first twinge of anger. This was the first time Philantus had truly seen anyone other than Cyclone, and it was obvious that no one had ever seen anything like him before in turn. Hissing lightly, he tried to ignore it as he searched for the landmarks Cyclone had told him about. "The coffee- whatever that is- shop and the black market... hmm..." he murmured, glancing around. Cyclone had given Philantus brief descriptions of each, and since the Plaza wasn't extremely large, he managed to find them relatively quickly.

"Got it. Now. The spot right in-between the two.... there!! Found you." Unable to suppress a grin from his accomplishment, he switched wings so that he could land easier. As he neared the street, people were sent screaming anew and most ran away in terror. Others stood there, shocked and a little appalled by Philantus's appearance. Grimacing at the unfamiliar emotion of anger, he again ignored these people and began looking around for his next landmark.

He had no idea that all of this bad publicity and attention could attract some... unwanted company.

A female red Luxray, a type of Pokemon, was currently walking through the Plaza, trying to calm herself. It had been weeks since she had arrived on Dimensional Island, and yet she could not relocate her siblings, Tua and Mheetu. Adding to her worries was that she had heard that Kalypso had returned. She sighed. "They're not here... might as well go somewhere else now..."

She would have, if she had not heard people screaming. Rubis' ears picked up the direction of the scream, and she turned her head in that direction. Using her species' natural X-ray eyes, she could have sworn she spotted a monster of sorts. With a deep growl in her throat, she began to run in that direction, surrounding her body with electricity. "Kalypso, maybe?"

A Young red-headed girl was walking through the plaza as well. Her hair was tied back in qa style and specifically three spikes stuck out of the hair band as if feathers. Her eyes of orange showed that she was in an annoyed mood as well as her mouth. She was wearing a beige jacket with short sleeves as well as a tan long sleeved shirt under that had four triangles sticking out of the ends. She wore very baggy pants that puffed out she thighs and also a orange long belt that held them up. They were sutffed into grey-black boots that had three white traingles in the front and one in the back.

Not long has she appaeredonto this islande after being whisked away from her world. And she was both angry AND confused by the fact she not only changed species, but she also became younger and shorter than usual.

"God damnit, first I have a sudden change after a stupid voice calls me a stubborn person. And then I'm freaking lost on this stupid place...." Tapra grumbled under her breath as she heard lots of screaming and running. She was pushed over and ran over quite a bit duee to them not seeing her by her small size.

"Damnitall.... I'lll kill whoever's responsible." She grumbled as she slowly stood up and looking over to Philantus.

Philantus was far too busy searching the area- which consisted of a fruit stand, flower shop, perfume store, and book store- for the next sign to notice all of the commotion. Looking about with his red eyes, both sets of his wings were folded against his back as his purple, snake-like tongue flicked out from between his lips to taste the air. Such a pleasing, unique taste; paper and glue, flowers, sweet and strong perfumes, and fresh, ripe fruit. Speaking of which, Philantus suddenly realized just how hungry he was, and smirked at his luck. Going over to the fruit stand, he snatched up a bright, shiny, red apple and took a bite.

By the time he'd done so, the fruit vendor had bowled Tapra over again while screaming bloody murder. Not that Philantus took notice or anything; he was far too busy savoring his apple. However, he caught a small, crackling figure running his way, and he turned to face it out of curiosity. He also noticed that a small, red-headed woman was laying on the ground, looking rather dazed. Smiling at so many new experiences, he took another bite of the apple before speaking.

"Cool... what are you? I know you're a human, but what are you? A robot?? Is that why you're surrounded by electricity- because you're malfunctioning?"

Rubis looked at the human... animal... thing, confused as to what he was. "Can't you see all four of my legs planted on the ground? Red and black fur, gleaming eyes. I am Rubis, the red Luxray... And your demise." she then pounced at Philantus, body still electrified.

"Why the hell am I a freaking doormat for people?!" Tapra exclaimed angrily aloud as she got up fast to avoid another foot on her back.

"I don't know what the hell you are, but you are going DOWN!" Tapra angrily yelled out as lashed out a battle stance.

Philantus merely stared right back at Rubis, blinking his own red eyes in equal confusion. "What's a- woah! Hey, that's not very nice! What'd I do to you?!" he yelped, dodging to the right. Even caught off guard, the attack had been easy to dodge, and he tore off another chunk of apple. "You guys are violent up here, huh? No wonder the Void Master warned me about you. Still, I didn't think you'd just attack me for no reason at all..." he muttered, frowning in disappointment.

Turning his gaze to Tapra, Philantus sighed as she, too, became aggressive for seemingly no reason. "Do we have to fight? I mean, not that it wouldn't be fun and all, but I am eating. And I'm kind of busy right now... oh! You two wouldn't happen to know where a manhole is, would you? It should be somwhere around here..." He didn't appear at all phased by his attackers, and simply went on munching his fruit.

Rubis tried not to give into her inner anger, the struggle showing itself with a twitching left eye. She turned to face the creature, this time with burning fangs. "It's not hard to put two and two together. I figured that the plaza was peaceful until you appeared, when the people started fleeing. And who or what are you talking about?" Rubis then made another pounce, this time attacking with Fire Fang.

"You freaking started a mob that ran me over like a stupid doormat! I just appear in this place in this scrwed up form just to get run over by some STUPID idiots! I'll tell you now I am ANNOYED and PISSED!" Tapra exclaimed angrily at Philantus in an outraged voice.

'Ooooh. Flaming teeth, now there's an idea,' Philantus thought as Rubis began her attack. He listened to her talk, managing to finish the apple during her little speech. "Well it's not my fault they're scared of me. All I did was land here and start looking around. Is there anything wrong with that?" he asked innocently. Philantus ignored her question, knowing that Cyclone would want to remain in the dark for as long as possible. He inwardly groaned when Rubis attacked again, doing so predictably and far too slowly for his enjoyment.

After all, anger always screwed up even the best of fighters. "Here. Have an apple- er, what's left of it. Maybe some food will calm you down." Philantus stated, tossing the apple core into the air and taking a simple hop to the left this time. Since the apple core was right where he'd been standing, Rubis's attack would now hit it. Turning his attention back to the shrieking girl, he sweatdropped. 'Talk about loud... sheesh...' he thought.

"Like I said; not my fault they started running. Or that they ran you over. You guys jump to conclusions so much..."

Rubis bit into the apple core with the Fire Fang, not her intended target. Seconds after she had accidentally swallowed it, it was then spit out. She gave a small growl this time, thinking, hoping that Philantus couldn't read minds. Maybe it could be paralyzed? She charged up a weak jolt of electricity, Thunder Wave, a crippling attack as opposed to a damaging one. Once the charge was complete, Rubis launched the paralysis-inducing attack at Philantus.

Only problem with the attack, it's never been used on a creature like that.

Wonrei and Aqualad had just come form the caves and had manged to stumble on to the Plaza. "Where are we?" Wonrei looked around and saw a young red head.Aqualad walked up to her. "Umm Hi I'm Aqualad and thats wonrei. Do you know where we are?" The red head looked up. "Shell Cove and according to the dead here its the plaza." Wonrei walked up to Shell Cove. "You can talk to the dead?" "and use their powers for a hour per d-" She was cut off as she felt a tug at her shirt. "What, Void?" Wonrei's and Aqualad's chest started glowing as they heard a sudden crash. "What in the world?" Wonrei grabbed Shell Cove and ran towards the battle and Aqualad followed behind.

Tapra didn't care for the new visitors as her eyes raged at the humanoid chimera and prepared to do her double Kick and Sky Uppercut combo.

Philantus, not even really fighting, had gone back to searching for the manhole. He recalled what Cyclone had told him about them; they were round, black discs set into the ground that covered the entrances to narrow tunnels leading down into the sewers under the city. Turning his red-eyed gaze to the ground, he'd managed to find what he was looking for by the time Rubis launched her attack. "A-ha! I found it-"

The shockwave hit Philantus dead-on, and for a moment it seemed to do nothing since his only reaction was a surprised blink and a frown. Then, one of his eyes twitched, followed by all six of his clawed fingers twitching. Rather than paralyze him, the shockwave seemed to set off something in his acidic blood. "Grrrr... RARGH!!!!" Philantus opened his mouth wide, revealing his elongated, sharpened canines dripping with venom. Spreading his white wings, he leapt into the air and flew at Rubis without warning.

"Die! Die! Die!!" he screeched. With each word, Philantus swiped at Rubis with his neon green claws, hovering above her like a bat out of Hell.

Rubis swore as the claws struck her repeatedly, cursing that she had Rivalry instead of Intimidate. She felt a warm fluid run over her body. Blood. As an attempt to respond, she electrified her body, hoping to send him away. "What are you, anyways!?"
