The woman couldn't decide if Red had recalled his Venusaur because he'd chosen to or if they were using the rule system that required a Pokemon be called back if the opponent did. That system only allowed a switch if the active Pokemon was knocked out. It did throw of strategies of those trainers who liked to turn their roster into revolving doors (she recalled an announcer had once used that term, and it had always made her giggle) but it was kind of a pain too.
Laura was still spamming the type advantages. Prue frowned. That was fine and dandy if one used the simulations they gave little kids they ddin't think could handle themselves in a real fight. But numbers only went so far. And even then, that part of the community had those that had all but beaten the system. EV Training and abuse of the fact that the games were merely numbers. Pokemon wasn't about emotionless numbers. Prue shuddered at how horrible that must be if that was the only way one got to train Pokemon.
"Go Charizard!" Prue shouted.
The Luxray had just bitten into the neck of Red's Charizard. Prue had always preferred the final evolution of that line over the other final evolutions. Her favorite was the Squirtle, it being her first Pokemon probably had something to do with it, and she loved Wartortle. Leonardo, the Blastoise evolved from that Squirtle, was on a Ranch she had gotten set up some time ago.
She hardly used him anymore, and he wasn't that well trained. He had been young when she saved him at the Cerulean Cape, but he was over ten years old now. Long since retired. He would have been even if the International League hadn't set up that awful rule that forbade the usage of Pokemon obtained before the founding of the Hoenn League in League sanctioned events.
Sora's ears twitched and she stood up. She had just finished the Pink Poffin Prue had given her. She stood up and used Prue to climb onto the back of the bench she was sitting on. Sora looked over at the new arrival and tilted her head sideways. Something seemed off about the "human".
"Pachi?" Sora said. Even if Aokakesu could understand Pokemon, he wouldn't have a clue what the Pachirisu had just said. Sora was still speaking in something like baby talk despite still being obviously and adult.

Aokakesu looked over to what sounded like baby talk to him to see that the Pachirisu was looking at him. He gave a smile and small wave as he turned back to see what happens next in the battle. A good old fashion fight usually lifts spirirt a lot for many people and pokemon.

Laura gave a "tsk" as she heard Prue's cheering. Bluebolt let go of Charizard's neck and jumped back, her body still sparking with electricity.
"Charizard, Air Slash!" Red said hoarsely. He gave a small cough as he said that. Stupid voice cords. He wanted to finish this match at least. Laura gave a smirk as the Charizard rushed past her Luxray and slashed it with a blade of air from his wings. And then her smirk fell as she realized the meaning behind that non-effective move: he was trying to make her Luxray flinch. Which he succeeded at.
"Charizard, Blast Burn!" Red croaked out. This time there were a couple more coughs with the order. The Charizard soared into the air, and let out a ball of flames that completely exploded on top of the Luxray. To say it was overkill was saying using a flamethrower on an ant is a perfectly normal way to kill one.
"Bl-Bluebolt!" Laura screamed. She returned the Luxray to its Pokeball. "...You did good." She returned to glaring at Red. That had been way too much power to finish Bluebolt off. He had to know that his Charizard was at its limit; that's why he had done it. If that attack hadn't worked, his Charizard would have been taken out.
Her glare dropped when she realized Red was still coughing. "H-Hey! Are you okay?!"

Prue was getting more concerned as the fight went on. The other female trainer struck her as the type that wouldn't let up until she had wiped the floor with her opponent. Red seemed to be sinking into some coughing fit. She was on her feet as Red gave his command to the Charizard.
The flames jumped back and licked several feet to the side. Prue found herself tripping over her own feet back into a sitting position. She held up her arm, half expecting the flames to engulf her. As she felt the heat recede she carefully opened her eyes. Sora had scrambled onto the top of the bench from the flames and was staring at Red now, who was coughing severely.
"Pachi! Pachi! Chiii Pa pachi!"/"Prue look! Something's wrong with him! Look already, I'm worried!" Somehow the squirrel Pokemon managed to be coherent without saying any part of the "risu" part of her name even once.
Prue had scooped Sora up and taken several steps forward. She stopped, though. One wasn't supposed to touch another trainer in a fight and she didn't want to get yelled at for that. She looked awkward as she hesitated for a few moments.
"Hey...!" She turned to Laura, "Hey, you! Call off the fight, he got two out of three, right? Call it off so we can talk to him!"
She planned on running to check on Red even without the permission of the other trainer. Screw rules and regulations, Red's face was growing... well, red. Prue wasn't sure he was getting any oxygen at this point...
(OOC: TSI, Prue hasn't seen Aokakesu so she can't react to that. If you don't know her age, she's 23, but she comes across more like she's eighteen or nineteen for her energy levels and such.)

(Okay, didn't know she was 23 though. I thought she was 16, but that was because I couldn't find her bio ) Even Aokakesu knew that at this point that Red was not in the shape of battle, and wanted to check if he was alright as well.

Laura looked back at Prue, and unlike the look she'd had before, she now looked very worried. Laura liked battling. She didn't like killing the trainers she was fighting with. And it looked like Red was about to hack up a lung. Literally.
"We were about to! We're not going to fight if he's killing himself!" Laura yelled. Red shook his head, and pulled out Charizard's Pokeball. He returned the dragon to its Pokeball and pulled out another one, one marked with a star. Laura blinked.
"You're insane! You need a doctor!" Laura yelled. Red shook his head again. He wasn't going to stop until the battle was over. After all, Laura's third Pokemon could still take out all three of his. He sent out his Pikachu, who turned around and blinked at Red.
"Dammit! You're gonna kill yourself this way! Don't blame us if you die!" Laura yelled. She pulled out her own Pokeball and sent out Rapier. "Fine! Rapier, Magical Leaf!"
Red had his Pokedex out, and hit a button. In a robotic tone, the Pokedex said, "Quick Attack." Pikachu ran forward and slammed into Rapier before Rapier could fire off the glowing leaves he had materialized in front of him. The Roserade winced from the attack and swung its arm down, sending the leaves firing at Pikachu like missiles.
Laura had been wondering about why Red had been talking for a while. And now she realized things. "You idiot! You're Red the Mute Champion of Kanto! You're not supposed to be talking! Your voicebox is so weak, all that talking you were doing before just made you hurt even more! Why the hell were you talking!?"
Red shrugged and pressed another button on his Pokedex. "Thunderbolt," it said. Pikachu launched a Thunderbolt at Rapier, who dodged out of the way.

(OOC: TSI, she's not hard to find. She's on the OCs page. But here: mrsaturn123.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=acceptedcharacters&action=display&thread=1982)There were some things Prue had trouble grasping. She always had, and even now she could only come close in certain situations. Just wasn't one of them. This wasn't a tournament. Defaulting would not lose a title. Red did not know Laura, so it wasn't like they were rivals. She came to a stop a few feet from Red as he made it clear he was going to continue the fight. She felt close to hysterics, and had to wipe her eyes. "You're insane!" she said to Red. She heard Laura talking. She'd heard of a Red. Again, he was older. And he didn't have speaking problems the few times he'd been on the television. He wasn't the biggest fan of the limelight. And this wasn't him. This was probably him from another reality. This Island seemed to do things like that. She turned back to the bench and saw Aokakesu. She came up with an idea. "Hey, do you have a cellphone!?" She ran a couple of steps forward, Sora still in her arms, "My PokeNavi and PokeGear aren't on me, and I doubt they'd work here anyhow. Please, call someone to help!" Prue didn't understand anything about voiceboxes. She barely knew what one was. But she knew enough to know that Red shouldn't have been talking. She felt like the world's biggest jerk now, too. She had told Red he didn't have to whisper. Of course he had been whispering. He wasn't capable of much more. She would have focused on that if there weren't more important things right now. Like getting Red medical attention. Sora had twisted around to continue to watch the fight. The Pokemon there were all rather scary. Sora could fight, and she did, but she focused on Contests. Prue didn't have more Cute Ribbons than was practical for no reason, after all. She covered her eyes with her paws, but lowered one a bit to watch the fight. Curiosity for Skitty had nothing on some of Sora's worst moments.

Aokakesu was getting worried. He didn't know a single healing area on this island, Red was in a really bad condition, he had no clue what this 'cellphone' this girl was speaking of was, and why the battle was still going. He tried to give it a deep thought, and amazingly thought of a single solution.
["I can use the move Recover, but I don't know if that'll help him."] Aokakesu replied telepathically.

"Seed Bomb, Rapier!" Laura yelled. The Roserade lept into the air and threw several large seeds out of the red bouquet it had as a hand at Pikachu. The seeds exploded upon contact with the Pikachu, who managed to dodge the majority of them with Quick Attack. The Pikachu slammed into Rapier, who then placed his blue bouquet on the Pikachu's back and smirked.
"GIGA DRAIN!" Laura yelled. Rapier planted a seed into Pikachu's back and then jumped back. Several vines spread out from the seed and curled around the Pikachu. Rapier held out his red bouquet, and energy flowed from Pikachu into Rapier. The seed dropped away from Pikachu's body.
Red made a motion with his hand to Pikachu, who caught it out of the corner of his eye. Red had trained all of his Pokemon to recognize these kind of visual cues before. This one meant "Let's finish it." It was the one that told his Pokemon to use their "finishing move", typically their strongest one. Pikachu's body began to glow with electricity, and it began to run at Rapier. Laura took a step back.
"Rapier, Ingrain! Don't let it knock you from that spot!" Laura yelled. Rapier's feet turned into large roots that grew deep into the ground. He braced himself as the Pikachu tackled into him, and was sent flying into a tree. Laura winced in sympathy. The Pikachu took a couple breaths, and then fell over, unconcious.
"We... won?" Laura asked. She turned to Rapier, and then sighed. No. It had been a double knockout. She returned Rapier to his Pokeball as Red did the same with Pikachu. "Red, you are still FUCKING INSANE. But you're our kinda insane. Now for the love of god, get to a doctor!"
Red had started massaging his throat after the battle ended. "I'm okay," he croaked out. He hadn't wanted to worry them. Probably shouldn't have talked so much. He looked to Prue. It didn't look like she realized it, but she had a slight burn on her arm. Probably from Charizard's Blast Burn earlier. Even staying away from the flames, that was a very powerful attack. The heat from those flames alone probably had been what caused it. He took off his backpack and pulled out a Burn Heal, and then walked over to Prue and held it out to her.

Prue blinked as she heard a voice inside of her head. She wasn't telepathic, and even Zelda couldn't speak with her like that. Well, she could, but all Prue wouldn't hear anything but Pokemon speak from the Gardevoir. She blinked at Aokakesu. A psychic? Well, it wasn't out of the question. Her world had a pretty good population of them. Some of them, like Sabrina, were famous. Sabrina had been one of the Gym Leaders she couldn't beat until she returned to Kanto years later, too. When the Sevii Islands had been opened to trainers for exploration.
The woman turned as she felt someone tapping her shoulder. Red was holding out a Burn Heal. She looked at it for a moment before realizing her arm hurt. She looked down and realized she hadn't even been supporing Sora with it. She'd been totally unaware of it. Now that she had seen it, now that she knew it was there, however... it hurt like hell. She hissed a bit just from seeing it but shook her head.
"If you can heal with psychic powers, than do it! I mean... ah... Red, you said? He," she pointed at the blue and white themed person whose name she didn't know. She winced as she moved her arm. It really hurt now that she knew about it, "says he can use Recover. Will that help?"
Sora took the Burn Heal and held it. She had no idea how to use it anymore than she would have known how to use a Potion. She smacked it against the side of Prue's arm like a raccoon might smack a can of tuna. It was plain adorable.

Aokakesu walked over to the two, despite he went wobbling a little.
(Not much to say on his part xD)

Red shook his head. He was still massaging his throat, and it wasn't anywhere near as sore, so he coughed out a couple sentences. "Recover heals self, not others. And doctor said it would heal over time anyways."
Laura was sitting on the same bench Prue had been sitting on before, Reviving her Pokemon with a couple Revives she had brought with her to the Island. She was running low on medicinal supplies. She needed to find a Pokemon Center, or at least some kind of equivalent.
"We still think you're fucking insane. How long did this doctor say it would take for you to heal anyways?" Laura asked. Rapier was sitting dejected next to her, and she rounded on him after saying her statement to Red. "Stop lookin' so dejected! We ain't ashamed of you!"
<"But I failed you, La Reine!"> Rapier said in Pokemon-speak. Laura smacked him.
"Shut up! You did your best; we still like you! Here's 500 pokedollars, go get us another hot dog," Laura said. She handed the bills to Rapier, who ran off to buy his trainer another hotdog. Laura leaned back in the bench after saying that. Red had been watching her deal with her Pokemon before turning back to Prue. It wasn't unheard of for a trainer to be able to practically understand what their Pokemon was saying if they had a close bond to that Pokemon. Red had something similar with Pikachu, after all.
He was looking at Sora now, and smiled. The Pachirisu was really trying to help her trainer, it looked like.

Prue looked annoyed, "Don't talk! And if you have to talk, don't whisper! Cause whispering strains your vocal chords more!"
Actually, Prue wasn't sure about that. It was just something someone had told her one time when she had a bad sore throat. She didn't know if she believed it. After all, it hurt more to speak at full volume. Sora looked up at Red and blinked a few times.
"Pachi!" she said. More baby talk, still no translation. Sora was the type that either annoyed the hell out of you or made you squee more than a basket of puppies could.
"Sora, give that to me..." Prue said. She was trying to sound annoyed but she was failing. She obviously fell into the latter train of thought about the squirrel Pokemon.
Prue took the item from Sora, who wriggeld and dropped down to the ground. The Pachirisu ran over to Aokakesu and plopped down on the ground in front of him. Her head moved to the side, she seemed focused on watching him wobble. She got up and began mimicking it. Only thing the scene was really missing at this point was a Spinda.
The woman sprayed the medicine on her arm and looked up, "I'm serious though. You should see a doctor... although I heard the hospital hear is all messed up...."
She still sounded very concerned. More like a little kid than an adult woman.

Aokakesu facepalmed on the inside. He COMPLETELY forgotten that Recover can't heal others, but it was good to hear that Ash was alright. Although, he did completely agree with the doctor idea. He eventually stopped his slight wobblin gaining balance

Red sighed when Prue said he shouldn't whisper. "I'm not whispering." This really was the extent of his speaking strength at the moment. The doctor had said it would probably be about ten years before his vocal cords were fully healed, and even then, they wouldn't be the same. Then again, considering how he had lost that speaking strength... he was one of the lucky ones.
"The hospital's all messed up? Crap, we were going to go there next to see if they could heal our Pokemon. But man, where're we gonna stay if there's no Pokemon Centers? Our last experience with a hotel didn't exactly go so well," Laura sighed. Her last experience with a hotel had involved her nearly getting trapped in an endless nightmare. Not what you would call fun.
Red opened his mouth to suggest something, but Laura then yelled, "And we ain't camping out in the park like you!"
Red was still ignoring everyone's suggestions to go see a doctor. He was fine, really.
