Full Name: Ishnail Maneson
Nickname(s): Snails
Age: Early adolescence
Height: Kinda tall
Weight: Somewhat lanky
Gender: Colt
Race: Unicorn pony
Alliance: Neutral good
Home: Ponyville, Equestria
Franchise: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Physical Description
Snails is a lanky young colt with big ears and a small horn on his head he performs magic with. His skin is a pale gold, and his short mane and tail are aquamarine. He has freckles, and his cutie mark is of a purple snail.
Weapons
The closest thing he has is his horn. Not that he can do much with it.
Abilities/Powers
Snails has standard unicorn powers, and he can move things telekinetically or produce light with his horn. His powers have proven a little slow in growth and development, however, and using them can still prove a little difficult for him at times. He seems yet to have developed any unique magic abilities specifically related to him.
Skills
Snails is quite the young artist, both visual and culinary. His magic skills are mediocre at best, so he sticks mainly to mouthwriting while he keeps honing his powers. His mouthwriting, as a result, is surprisingly well done. He can be a bit of a klutz when it comes to overall physical activities, though, due to his awkward, lanky body.
Personality
While an easy going, simple minded fellow who simply goes along what what the others (particularly his best friend, Snips) are doing, Snails isn't really stupid per se. But being kinda slow on the uptake and his difficulty in coming up with reasonably smart responses if he tries too fast make him seem that way to most ponies. However, Snails is a kind and loyal colt who'd do just about anyone he cares about. Especially Snips. While usually off in his own little world, if it manages to sink in that someone is in some kind of bind or just upset about something, his compassionate side will show through.
History
Snails's family moved to Ponyville from Ontackio when he was very young. He had a difficult time making friends, but a short and stubby unicorn colt named Snips took a liking to him and they became best friends. As Snips loved magic shows, Snails would often try and assist when he friend would try his hoof in magic tricks himself. Didn't always go all that smoothly when Snails let his mind wander. In his early adolescence, Snails gained his cutie mark: a snail. And while he knew he always did like taking nice and slow like a snail, he still hasn't quite grasped what that means about what he is truly meant to be.
One fall day, a highly praised traveling magician known by the stage name The Great and Powerful Trixie rolled her show into town. Snips idolized her greatly, almost to the point of hero worship, and Snails liked her because Snips did. Snails never questions Snips's judgement. "The Great and Powerful" Trixie, as it turned out, was really nothing but a proud and arrogant diva who talked big and used special effects to make herself look better, but the two colts were looking at her through rose-tinted glasses and couldn't see it. When the librarian Twilight Sparkle's baby dragon, Spike, voiced his open skepticism of Trixie's biggest boast--that she defeated a giant, terrifying monster called an Ursa Major--Snips naively decided to defend his idol's honor... By luring an Ursa into Ponyville for her to vanquish.
Wandering into the Everfree Forest, Snips and Snails eventually stumbled upon what they were looking for: a starry-coated bear the size of a building. But the two colts nearly got themselves killed baiting it back into town. When they called out an incredulous Trixie to prove her claims right to everyone by defeating this Ursa, she made a few feeble attempts that barely fazed it before admitting her whole story was a lie. The only reason the town wasn't leveled that night was Twilight recognized the monster as an Ursa Minor, who was cranky from having been awaken from his nap, and put it to sleep.
Now seeing the so-called "Great and Powerful" Trixie--who'd fled town moments after the threat was over--for what she truly was, and feeling ashamed and humiliated by their gigantic mistake, the colts were willing to accept whatever punishment they were given. Twilight ordered they clean up Trixie's abandoned and wrecked trailer and, as a humorous show of forgiveness, magically gave the two temporary mustaches. While the town remained mad at them for luring the giant monster into town for some time, the whole thing eventually blew over. The following spring, Snips and Snails signed on for a school talent show with their own magic act, but Snails's wandering mind caused a slight hiccup in the act. They won a prize nonetheless. Snips has refused to speak of Trixie since the Ursa incident, having felt emotionally betrayed by his former idol. He's found a new magical idol since then anyway: a unicorn named Twilight Sparkle.
