Full Name: Gilda
Nickname(s): N/A
Age: Unknown, probably around the same age as Dash.
Height: Unknown
Weight: Unknown
Gender: Female
Race: Griffon
Alliance: True Neutral (She's proven she isn't really "good" persay, but she's definitely not evil)
Home: Unknown, Equestria
Franchise: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
Physical Description
As a griffon, Gilda's head and subsequent wings are of the eagle type while the rest of her body are that of a lion. Her coat is a moderate orange amber with darker wings. Her eagle head is white, however, and her eyes are golden, with a sort of gray light purple around them. Makeup, maybe. Like any beast, she does not wear clothing.
Weapons
She doesn't use weapons. She has her beak and claws, but her greatest weapon to date is her biting tongue.
Abilities/Powers
She doesn't show any special abilities save for what she can do as a griffon.
Skills
She can fly and mimic the sounds of bird.
Personality
Now just because I have a penchant for redemption, don't think I'm gonna entirely butcher Gilda's canon. Gilda is still going to be the bad-girl archetype who tries to be cool and act all tough and badass. That's who she is and changing that would be butchering her personality. However, let's face it. Most people who act like this are doing so to hide from deep seeded issues they harbor in their heart. A lot of this is going to be created fandom on my part, so prepare for it.
Gilda does have a good side. However, she hides it because she doesn't want to be viewed as weak. The tough girl act and biting tongue is a front for an inferiority complex she's harbored growing up. If you break past the cold and even rude exterior, you'll find someone who's scared of the world and doesn't know how to fully combat it. A lot of bullying, after all, stems from these kinds of fears, but instead of combating them, the bullies delve into the same behaviors and tactics and thus end up becoming as bad as them.
And Gilda suffered for it. Her best friend, Rainbow Dash, abandons her. Though she storms out, acting tough, the moment she is alone, she would show heartbreak and regret. The guilt would cave in on her, to realize that her tough girl act caused more harm then good. But if she abandons it, she'll lose sense of her identity at this point, so she feels the urge to keep on with it, despite the fact that it cost her everything she held dear. The psychological urge to be seen as tough acts like a constrictor, even though people only see her as pathetic, even though the act has only garnered her hatred.
But onto the history.
History
(Fully constructed and made up save for the episode in which it all goes to hell for Gilda)
Gilda grew up in a land far from Ponyville, naturally, a land where griffons ruled. She was the youngest of her siblings and, as such, was always apt to being teased. The griffon way of life was survival of the fittest, a stark contrast to the peaceful, sharing, and kind ways of the ponies, and Gilda quickly learned that if she did not grow stronger, she would die. So she grew stronger. She began to fight for survival and would excel. Despite being the runt of the litter, she managed to hunt her food and would take it as she saw fit. Pretty soon, she was seen as an equal in the griffon society, but that would all change come one accident. During a hunting session with one of her brothers, a run in with an Ursa Minor resulted in his death. Harboring survivor's guilt, she fled, unable to face her people.
It was during that time she met Dash, who had recently dropped out from flight school to pursue her own self-interests. Rainbow Dash was the one who helped Gilda get back on her feet after the death of her brother by offering her companionship in her time of need. The two quickly grew close and Gilda saw that Dash was a tough, no nonsense girl and tried to emulate her personality. Both of them saw each other as strong, and to be seen as that was like a drug for Gilda. Back then, it was just the two of them. They lived as if the rest of the world were out to get them and, in a way, it was. But when Gilda left to train herself, she came back to find Dash had not only integrated into pony society, but made new friends.
This is where Gilda's new perspective on life, admittedly caused somewhat by Dash, would begin to negatively effect her. She would stop Pinkie Pie's advances out of jealousy, because she wanted things to be like before. Then she would be caught being mean to the other ponies. In essence, such a thing looked to be uncalled for... and it was. Gilda's mentality on it was that she was tougher then them and thus did what it took to be seen as such, even going so far as to make Fluttershy cry, which was immediately taken and overexaggerated to the point where it was made out that, in this action, Gilda had crossed the Moral Event Horizon and become a Complete Monster, forgivable only in death. Bitchy, yes. Evil... not even.
Eventually Pinkie Pie decided to throw Gilda a party. However, the party was riddled with pranks and traps. Gilda, in Karmatic Vengeance for making Fluttershy cry, was hit by each and every one of them. In the end, she snapped. She was being laughed at. She was being seen as weak. She was pissed and she was fully prepared to lash out on Pinkie Pie, who she thought set up all those traps. So imagine her surprise when Dash revealed she had set them up and they weren't all meant for her. Pinkie Pie was too innocent to concoct such a grand scheme; the party was to improve Gilda's attitude and try to break her out of her shell, but all the wrong things happened at the wrong time and, in the end, Dash disowned Gilda as a friend and let her go on her way.
Gilda reacted with the tough girl act at first. She told Dash if she wanted to be cool again, she could come find her. And for a while, she legitimately fooled herself into believing this. For a while, she thought she was in the right and Dash was being a traitor. But then she eventually had to reflect on what was done. And in a "My God What Have I Done" moment, she realized she lost everything that made her what she was. She had only become so strong because Dash had been with her and she had tossed that all away in an attempt to hold onto that image. She lost everything, but she had felt so strong doing it. She didn't want to be alone, yet that's what she wrought upon herself in her own undoing. A tragedy in three parts. Upbringing, identity, and downfall.

Yes, followers of the Felix/Edd plot, I'm well aware Gilda's story seems like a less evil version of what Felix did to Edd. Also...

This is what I'm talking about. She's a bitch, we get it, but look at who she's being compared to.

THEY'RE NOT COMPARABLE! ONE IS A GENOCIDAL MANIAC OF A DICTATOR, THE OTHER IS JUST A JERKASS! TWO DIFFERENT THINGS! TWO BLOODY DIFFERENT THINGS! See... it's not disliking Gilda that bothers me. It's these people who claim to want to love and tolerate things, as bronies would, yet would then acclaim to pulling out the shotgun or cleaver if they saw Gilda. Can we say... hypocrisy?
