It didn't take long- Wax had gotten to the mall within ten minutes after landing on the ground with John. It was a bit shocking to him- Wax himself didn't even know he could stay airborn like that. But that wasn't important- he had business to take care of!
Wax had gone to a computer store not long after getting to the mall. A computer counted as a communication device, right? He didn't know how long it would last if he couldn't find a power source for it, but this was a smidge too important right now.
"Excuse me-" he started, getting the attention of a staff member. "I'm, ah, sorta trying to buy a computer. Could you help me out with the purchase?"
"Certainly, sir!" said staff member answered, leading him off. "Is there anything in particular you have in mind?"
"Just that I need an alternate way to talk on the thing."
"Talk? Oh, you mean type! ...well, i can see what you mean- We'll be sure to hook you up with a microphone to use- it won't cost much more, I promise!"
Wax smiled to himself- looked like things were looking up for him. Not long after being led to a few, Wax looked them all over- especially the laptops. he needed a way to talk while on the move... the only problem was his lack of a storing device.
But that didn't matter- it was time to get some stuff and make a purchace for it!
(OOC: If anyone would like, you're free to come into this. Just to add a bit of humor to the purchase, as it were. XD)

Frankie Sanford, secretly the Super Child of Technology known as the superhero Colonel Cranium, had recently split up with his new friend Luke for the time being. After the brief but heated and frankly unusual battle with the lycagon's 'evil twin' Corruption, Luke had business to finish elsewhere. He agreed to keep Frankie's identity a secret, having learned it from him in the struggle.
For the time being, Frankie stepped into the nearest computer store and started looking around. Sure, most of the designs here were child's play compared to what his Super Child power could produce, but a lot of the devices stores like this sold often provided a cheap source for raw building material. Taking those devices apart usually voided whatever warranty they had, but considering just how far he took them apart it didn't really matter. He always threw away the logo-marked casings and broke all components down to their primary pieces so he knew he wasn't incorporating anyone else's designs into his own technology.
As he looked down the aisles for anything with parts that he could possibly use to build a DNA tracer, his eyes fell on a curious sight in the laptop section. It looked like a black candle, only it was around the same height as him. On closer inspection, it kind of reminded him of a volcano in a way. Interesting... This candle creature appeared to be looking for a laptop. Well, at this point, Frankie had seen plenty of relatively weird things on this island. This was hardly weirder.

Not long after setting the comp down, Wax went with the man to try finding a microphone for it. ...which only made him more confused. "Just... not trying to sound like a complete idiot here, man, but uh-"
"Yes?" The helper asked, turning around to see him.
"...What's a microphone?"
The man more or less stopped walking at that point. "...You honestly don't know."
"Nope."
"...I have no idea how to explain this to you..." he sighed.

Must've been from a low tech world. It was hardly a stretch, to say the least, to say so much as that there were worlds connected to this island that had barely progressed in science and technology farther than the medieval era.
"If I may cut in..." Frankie piped into the conversation, "A microphone is a device that can record convert sound into something that can be recorded into or played through whatever machine the microphone is plugged into." Smiling slightly, he asked, "Does... that help any?"

Wax made a motion that seemed similar to scratching his face- if his body wasn't all made out of slime, at least. "I guess so... But can it be used to do that... thing with the words on the...?" Wax tried to ask, a bit confused.
"Not always," the assistant chimed in. "but yes- Microphones can in fact help out with typing text onto the screen- it takes a bit of formatting, but it works out alright."
"Interestin..." Wax hummed, a bored look on his face. "...Man, what did i crawl into?"

Poor candle thing. He clearly had no idea what he was doing, but it looked like he still needed a computer. Hmm... Luke did say he'd be awhile...
"Um, hey... If you need any help with any of this, I'd be glad to give it to you," he offered.

Wax rubbed his lower face in thought. "Hmm... not a bad plan, actually..." he sighed, smiling. "In fact, it might help out- oh, I almost forgot, where are my manners? My name's Waxevius." he said, extending a hand to Frankie. "I hink it's only fare if new friends exchange names- even if we're not friends yet."

With a shrug, the young human man replied, "Fair enough..." He accepted the hand and shook it. "Franklin Sanford... But everyone calls me Frankie." It was only then that he realized how warm and sticky the hand he shook was. Duh, he's made of wax!

Wax couldn't help a grin. "Feels warm, doesn't it?" he laughed. "So then, Frankie," he asked, looking toward the computers on display. "Which of these little flat ones would you reccomend?" Looking up for just a moment, he read the sign over them. "...Laptops? Is that what these are called?"

Taking a moment to think, Frankie contemplated everything he saw as Waxevius looked around and questioned the staff. Resting his chin against the back of his right hand and his right elbow against the palm of his left, he thought aloud, "Hmm... Sounds like your main goal is communication, which would mean quality of Internet would be your primary concern..." he nodded slightly as he continued, "...You're obviously unfamiliar with technology to this degree, so a more user-friendly model programmed to help you along would be preferred, and with nothing too fancy or complex coming with its packaged programs, but voice-to-text programming is one desired factor..."

Wax looked right at the kid. Wow. It sounded like a load of mumbo jumbo, but what he could gather sounded... pretty close to Wax's current situation. "Yeah, I guess all that... stuff could help out..." he sighed. "I'm planning on meeting back up with my campadre later on, so i think he'll be able to help out in setting up."
"Parden my interuption," another member of the staff cleared his throat. "but I was asked to find you something. These, to be precise."
What "these" were, was in fact, a peculiar looking set of headphones... with a microphone pre-built in. "They're specially made- and perfectly capable of being customized to respond to your voice, and your voice only. They're as latest a model as we have, and they're simple enough to use."
Wax grinned. "That would work out in my favor, wouldn't it..."

Frankie nodded as the employee handed over the product box. "Yeah... it certainly would." He looked up and down the countertops of computers of various makes and models. "Now all we need is to find the appropriate computer to connect it to... You'll probably want something compact, but not too compact for a computer novice..." He figured something like an iPod Touch was not the right thing for Wax given both his inexperience with technology and... well, the kind of body he had.

Wax heard every word- and tried looking everythng over. "Hmm... Man, I can't tell which one is the right choice. They all look about the same in some regards..."

Frankie couldn't help but frown, feeling a little bad for the living candle person. Poor guy was clearly over his head in this department, and he was going to need a lot of help. He took a look around, figuring he might was well throw in his own opinion for Wax. Then his eyes settled on one relatively small notebook computer; kinda like those ones HP has been producing.
"How about this one?" he suggested, showing the display computer to the large ignewax. "Small and lightweight, simple design..." Reading the details listed next to it, he added, "And hey, the fact that it comes with a plastic cover for the keyboard means you don't have to worry as much about getting wax on the keys."

Waxevius stared at the display, truly amazed by it's capability. "Yeah, that," he began, a huge grin forming on his face. "That seems like an awesome choice for me!" he chuckled.
