Full Name: Sunshine Flare
Nickname(s): Spitfire
Age: Unknown (presumably in late 20s, maybe even early 30s, but would be somewhere a bit above Soarin's age)
Height: Confound these ponies; They drive me away from measuring height!
Weight: Confound these ponies; They drive me away from measuring weight!
Gender: Female
Race: Pegasus
Alliance: Chaotic Good
Home: Cloudsdale, Equestria
Franchise: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Background Canon Character)
Physical Description
Spitfire does take on a bit of a fiery appearance. Though you can't usually see her coat through her Wonderbolts uniform, it is a lighter yellow. Her mane and tail colors compliment her coat by giving off the lighter and darker orange colors associated with fire. Her eyes are also a dark orange. Is it any wonder her nickname is Spitfire and her real name is Sunshine at this point? As a Wonderbolt, however, she is often seen wearing their uniform, a dark-blue coat-tight piece of gear with a yellow lightning bolt that runs down the stomach and gives way for her wings to spread out so she can fly. It also comes with goggles. Other then this, however, she doesn't usually wear clothing, being a pony and all. Nobody knows what her cutie mark is either. For the sake of argument... three small fires.
Weapons
Like every other character in MLP, Spitfire doesn't carry weapons.
Abilities/Powers
Spitfire doesn't show any special powers or the like. It is claimed, however, that the reason she is called Spitfire is because if she learns how to follow through with the "Sonic Rainboom," it will create fire and end up more like a Solar Flare. Because this is awesome as fuck, this will stand.
Skills
Like any Pegasus, Spitfire can fly. As captain of the Wonderbolts, she comes up with flying formations as well.
Personality
Spitfire follows her names rather well. Like a ray of Sunshine, she is warm and often kind to her teammates. She cares about people, especially those she enjoys being with, and won't hesitate to keep believing so. However, like one who would be named Spitfire, she is fiery in practice sessions. She isn't a bitch, but she is willing to push her team to the max. She is charismatic, always trying to inspire the best from her team, and unwilling to background. This is all on the surface, however. She hides a lot of baggage in order to carry on such an image. She is more tragic then she lets on. She's not an "emo" by any means, she doesn't follow the stereotypes of whining for attention or cutting herself, dear God no, but when she's by herself, sometimes she gets lost in thought and will flash back to a certain point in history where everything went wrong and it does jettison emotions. She doesn't confide in her teammates because she doesn't want to bother them with the fact that, unlike them, she hasn't moved on. She soldiers on past it in the public with her Spitfire persona and remains an individual many would want to befriend.
History
Before Spitfire, there was Sunshine Flare. Like many Pegasi, Sunshine was born in the city of Cloudsdale. She lived there for a long time and, much like present day Rainbow Dash, was captivated by the Wonderbolts. However, what set her off from Rainbow was that while Dash should be a Wonderbolt by now for what she's done, Sunshine was initiated as a teenager by the captain due to her supreme flying prowess. It was during a demonstration in flight school. The captain of the Wonderbolts at that time, Hurricane, had been watching. Sunshine had blown away the other fliers with her demonstration. She had been a bit of a show-off back in the day, but it paid off. Hurricane decided she wanted to take the young flier under her wing. It paid off.
Yes, the training was hard and rigorous, but two of the things Sunshine had going for her was perseverance and determination. The way this was shown through a fiery temper earned Sunshine the nickname she used often today. Spitfire. From then on, that was what she was known as. Spitfire would become a full-fledged Wonderbolt and, because she was trained personally by Hurricane herself, the two were naturally not just mentor and student, but close friends. Many a times, they would do casual things together as opposed to alone. Some suggested they also shared an intimate moment... that is up to your interpretation as I won't confirm or deny it like the bastard I am. However, much like any good thing, tragedy had to strike to bring it to an end.
It was during a private practice session. Spitfire and Hurricane were flying around Equestria, but the two got lost in the clouds. When Spitfire came out, she didn't see Hurricane until she saw the other pegasus falling towards the ground. To this day, nopony knows what Hurricane hit so hard to make her pass out in midair. Spitfire, however, charged down towards Hurricane, trying to save her. To reach her, though, she had to break mach speed. The technique was said impossible to do, which would much again be proven wrong by a certain rainbow-haired flier, but to Spitfire, it was. Despite her best attempt, her driving desire, to save her mentor, the mach snapback threw her back. If she hadn't been lucky enough to catch herself in mid-air, she might've ended up in bad condition herself.
The damage was done however. She saw her mentor hit the ground. When she got down, Hurricane was already gone, laying there motionless. Spitfire tried to wake her, but her eyes would never open again. They say that was the day "Sunshine Flare" died. That was the day she would only ever be known as Spitfire. At the funeral, it was stated in Hurricane's will that, should anything ever happen to her, Spitfire was to be made the new captain. She had full faith in her student that she would carry on. Spitfire didn't want to disappoint her mentor's memory. So she took on her new role and, despite being unable to put the past behind her, went on to become an idol to many young fliers and one of the greatest Wonderbolts captains ever known.
Maybe that's why, despite all that Rainbow Dash has done, she still isn't a Wonderbolt. Dash is pretty much what she tried to be, but couldn't achieve. If she had done that, none of this would have ever happened.

In this one, it was all the alcohol's fault. I decided to veer away from alcohol for... obvious... reasons... and make a tragedy out of it as opposed to drunken mishaps gone HORRIBLY wrong.
