(mood music! )
The clouds slowly drifted in the night sky, revealing the half moon on the other side. The mountain seemed reletively calm this particular night- just a cold breeze passing through the leaves of the bonsai trees here and there, and the occasional nightly bird cawing. Near a certain cliff sat a young couple from the nearby village, laughing while sipping tea brought with them.
"Yout know," the girl squeaked, looking down shyly as she twirled her finger through her hair. "This has actually been a very fun night... but I don't think we should be out this late..."
Waving in a disagreeing manner, her boyfriend joked, "Nah, it's not that bad! Nothing's gonna come get us- what're you afraid of, the Jiang-shi?" he laughed, rocking a little.
"N-no, of course not! I just... promised my father I'd be home after dark..."
"Is that all?" he sighed, getting up, then offering his hand to help her up as well. "Then I guess we better hurry- your dad's scarrier than any monster when he's mad."
She tried to stifle a giggle at this. "Stop that, you're horrible!" As the two of them continued on, they stopped when they saw someone approaching- someone that looked to belong to the village. "Oh, um... are you lost out here? Is something wrong?" she asked, trying to get a good look at her. "...are you ill?"
"No..." the newcomer croaked, her hands hidden behind her back. "But I am hungry... I've been looking for something good to eat for a while..."
The man almost laughed. "Huh? why would you come up here to eat anything? All the good food's down-" He stopped, once her hands came into view. Large, statue-like... and then he saw her starving red eyes. "Ji...Ji-ji-ji-!"
"JIANG-SHIIIIIIIIII!"
Seconds later, both were left on the ground, cold and completely drained of their power. "Mmmm... I've never seen creatures like you before," she cooed, the orbs of energy being swallowed after her sentance. "But wow- your energy tastes yummy!" Turning around, she waved to them, even though they were on the verge of fainting. "See you around- I hope I can see you again~!"
Quite a while later, she looked at the moon, trying to think. "Hmm... Is there anything else out here I can eat? I heard a birdy, but I'm not sure I can eat that without killing it..."

Meanwhile, down the path, a cloaked man was walking.
He didn't get much free time nowadays, though considering the amount of activity since that incident a few months back, he wasn't surprised.
He drew the cloak tighter to his body--it was a cold night. He had declined his companion's offer to join them at the bar. He wanted to be alone for a bit.
He stopped and turned to look out into the area below. He could see the nearby village, along with Void City farther off into the distance.
Sometimes he found it hard to believe that this whole place had been on the brink of a cataclysm only a few months ago. He had to be honest with himself, he'd seen this sort of things countless times.
It never stopped to make him wonder.
Evan shook his head and continued to walk.
A few minutes later, he saw something that made him think that his evening was completely ruined.
For creation's sake, can't I go one day without having to... He grumbled as he ran over to the bodies of the couple.
He checked them; they had just fainted. Something had sucked them dry. He turned on his radio. "This is Captain Evan of Omega Squad, I've found two casualties on Mt. Bonsai. Both are out cold and show signs of energy drainage. I want a team of medics up here now."
A voice crackled. "Roger that, Captain. Do you want the rest of your team sent up there?"
"No, I'll deal with whatever did it myself. Just tell them I'll be late for the party."

Not far between where Captain Evan found the drained couple and where the energy vampire wandered off to, a small space-time ripple began forming just off the path. The tear gave off alternating pulses of red and blue light for a few seconds before it ripped open in a flash of green. And just as soon as it appeared, it vanished...leaving a small and light object to fall to the ground.
It appeared to be a plush rabbit, and a dirty one at that. The bunny had obviously seen numerous repair jobs over the years. Parts of it where stitched over in purple wool, and various mechanical parts were built into the plush here and there. Other than the unconventional patch ups, it seemed like an ordinary toy. But on this island, things aren't always what they seem...

Meanwhile a little further up the mountain...
Really Talim normally enjoyed her hike up the mountain from the Arcadia Valley side up to the Fog Temple at the top of the mountain. This time however, there was very little fun to be had. She didn't discover much else about the temple, though she wanted very much too. This temple had a mysterious connection to her people, she somehow knew it... And yet the temple refused to let her find out much else...
Now here she was walking back down the mountain intent on returning to Arcadia Valley. There, there wasn't any mention of a monster named the Jiang Shi. Once she passed the barrier that seperated the Arcadia Airspace from the rest of Dimensional Island, no evil would be able to cross her path and try to annoy her...
Before she could turn down the path that would take her to the valley though.... A small wind blew across her, catching her attention... "Huh?"
She lifted her head and looked to the skies. "What is it?"
More winds came and gone...
"You want me to descend the mountain on the other side? Why?" More winds blew... Sighing she nodded. She NEVER questioned the wind after all. "I understand. I shall see what must be done..."
And with that, she started her walk. A wind Priestess on a mission of a kind...
Though just what, no-one knew.

As she kept up her walk, she almost seemed like she was singing, by her hums and body movement. The moon looked right, her body wasn't crystalizing without permission for once, and she found creatures with high quality energy in their bodies. This, was a very good night.
She stopped dead in her tracks, her three toed feet feeling the mud beneath them. Placing one of her stone hard hands to her mought, she sighed. "This really isn't Embrash, is it," she thought aloud, looking around. "It looks the same and feels the same, but everything's so... off. No cherry blossoms, none of the cute little creatures with pink hands, there isn't any volcanic smoke from the spirit's domain, And everything just seems so... dead tonight.
"Maybe... draining those two wasn't such a good idea," she thought, rubbing her stomach tenderly. "They really seemed frightened of me, even though I have no idea what they called me... Jian... Jinglesee? Whatever it was, it certainly seemed like something to be afraid of..." Bending down to let her enourmous fingers scratch the dirt, she huffed. "Maybe I should... give them their energy back? But wait, that'll make me starve... and I don't want that to happen again," she shivered, before getting up. "They'll be alright... but I still think I ought to eat something else," she puffed, looking around for something to eat.
She must've stood there for minutes, trying to find something to drain. Random little animals wouldn't cut it, would they?

The beauty of the place shows it's alien nature. However, the lush bonsai reminded her of home.
That is, if you can call Japan home.
Her nature, being the fragment of a being, makes her feel as such: a fragment of a being. Karin was never without a body. Once, she had her own body, then, she had Setsuna.
This, too, shows the strangeness of this place. She is now alone... and yet, she still has her form. She hadn't been able to traverse on her own since before the kid priestess took that ability away from her.
As she floats around the mountain, she watches in near glee as the very flora around her moves as she passes through them. The feeling, to her, is as remarkable as a baby's first sweet roll, or a kid's first bike.
The presence of others she felt as she wondered off. there were at least 2 with auras to worry about, and 1 who feels friendly. She brushed it off, knowing that they can't really see her...
... Or can they?

Back with Evan...
The Captain continued up the path, this time walking with caution. Okay, either it's some sort of vampire or I'm dealing with another Overlord. Maybe a leech. SOMETHING--
He immediately turned around. "Who's there?"
No response. Evan knew that he had felt something nearby, whatever it was, and he was going to be ticked if it was hostile. After a moment, he slowly resumed walking.
He wasn't an idiot. He had heard something, probably a stray animal or (knowing his luck) something else that wanted to make him their lunch.
He REALLY hated this damn island--
Hold up.
He walked over to the bunny and picked it up, turning it over in his hands. Probably a toy some kid dropped earlier. For a moment he considered taking it with him, but he realized that honestly, what would be the point? He was way too old to play with dolls.
He shrugged and tossed it away, hurrying after the Jiang-Shi.
He managed to catch up with her after a few minutes. He stayed within the shade of a bonsai tree to avoid detection.
Female, strange arms, probably uses melee combat. And if she drains energy then I need to be careful, he thought as the woman (?) talked to herself.
Well, no time like the present. He stepped out into the open and cleared his throat. "'scuse me, ma'am."

The bunny flopped back onto the ground as Evan dropped it. There it stayed as the Captain walked on. Until something peculiar happened: the bunny sat up of its own accord.
Pulling itself up to look around, it stared off in the direction Evan headed in, following in a show of curiosity. Not wanting to be seen for the time being, it watched inconspicuously as Evan stepped out and addressed the strange being he'd apparently been tailing himself.

Once she had heard someone addressing her, she turned around. "Oh, hello!" she greeted, grinning in the most honest, delightful way possible. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir~" she said, bowing to him. Her hands were plainly visible- and it seemed obvious she needed lots of energy to sustain movement with how big they are, and Heavy. "My name is Amelia Thist, but you may call me Amy. But their both beautiful names!"
With absolutely no additional thoughts, she approached and extended her hand. "And what might your name be?"

The night was not quiet. Karin knows she wasn't alone, but now she sees one.
Karin paid no attention to the girl as much as the winds as she was obeying it. However, to be able to talk to such a deity, that is an ability of itself.
However, that opened up the gate for more problems. This place gets stranger by the second.
Now focused on the girl, who is descending down the mountain. Her strange clothes and her facial expressions shows signs of a warrior. Her conversation made it apparent that she has been through this many times before.
She follows in extreme stealth, for if she can talk to the winds, no telling if she, or most anybody on this island, can see her. Trying not to sway the flora, she traverses.
