“Twilight, are you sure this is safe?”
The purple unicorn glanced over at her pegasus friend, nodding in excitement. “Of course! I wouldn’t be asking for your help if it wasn’t!” She turned back to her book, rereading the spell for the thirteenth time. “Okay, Fluttershy, this spell will analyze your appearance and then generate a duplicate in the form of a velveteen figure.”
Fluttershy tilted her head to the side, confused. “...sorry?”
Twilight sighed, pausing to think of a simpler way to put it. “It makes a plush toy that looks exactly like you.”
“Oh. That makes sense.” Fluttershy smiled softly, kind of embarrassed.
“Now, if you would please stand over there,” she motioned to an area near the table, “we can get started.”
The shy pegasus slowly moved where she was told, nervously peeking out at her friend from behind her pink mane. “R-ready.”
Twilight nodded, closing her eyes and focusing. Her horn glowed purple, a ribbon of light emerging and encircling Fluttershy.
She watched as it slowly formed a cocoon around her body, slightly worried. However, she trusted her friend, so she said nothing.
Twilight could feel when the spell eventually encased Fluttershy snugly in its ribbon-cocoon. She sighed, relaxing a bit as the spell started to analyze her friend’s appearance.
There was a loud boom outside, catching Twilight off-guard. She panicked, her eyes starting to glow white and a purple aura surrounding her form, losing control of her magic.
Fluttershy squeaked inside of her cocoon, trying to raise her voice enough to be heard. “T-Twilight, is this-”
Her voice was cut off by a bright flash, and then an unsettling silence.
Twilight blinked her eyes open, dazed after having regained control. She looked over at her friend and froze, horrified. “No. Nononononono. This can’t be happening!” Where her friend once was, there was...nothing.
Fluttershy was gone.
