Really, there is very little I can actually say about this series that you guys probably haven't heard already... But really, I have to say this, because honestly? I can't believe it TOOK me this long to discover what I'm already calling the series that you absolutely MUST see.
But for those of you who read this post and don't know what I'm talking about (And yes, I realize that number will be very completely and abysmally low since I can't imagine anyone missing out on this XD), here's the basic synopsis of the story.
There She Is!! Is a very popular 5 episode webseries that was started in 2004 and took a grand total of 5 years to complete. The series itself stars a young couple; Doki, a sweet lovable little bunny girl with a heart of gold and Nabi, an athletic, indecisive and equally pure hearted young cat boy whom is most prominent due to his bright green scarf. The two have multiple adventures to their fateful first meeting, where Nabi is at first unwilling to return Doki's affections, to a date or two between them...
However, past the halfway point of the series, it's revealed that the two's love has unintentionally started what could be considered a flat-out war between two distinct protests, both centered around inter-species romance (One made to support it, while the other is violently against it). I won't spoil the ending or much else for those who haven't seen this series, but I will say this much; Rarely have I ever watched a TV show or series that had an ending as absolutely and undeniably perfect as the one I've seen from this series. Hell, the SONG your likely listening to from the above video was from the final episode itself, and has quickly become, to me, one of my absolute favorite songs.
Now that I've covered the synopsis, let's go into the review.
Now, normally, I'm not the reviewing type. A movie, game, or animation, to me, would have to be very VERY bad for me to notice that it is indeed that... However this series, is, from what I can tell, absolutely flawless.
The art style and animation is crisp and clear, simple yet beautiful, other praising descriptions. The character designs help each character stand out and make them recognizable, even memorable. Never once does the artwork betray any aspect of the story in the animations, and the cuteness of the characters will be guaranteed to keep your attention.
The characters themselves are as memorable as their designs make them out to be. Alongside Doki and Nabi, there is a small cast of other characters that make themselves prominent in the story; an entourage of pets Doki comes in contact with, Hana, Pijja and a Grey Rabbit character whom help out Doki and Nabi and encourage their relationship, and a gang of spikey furred rabbits that serve as rivals for Nabi (As it's clear the leader has a crush on Doki himself).
The story... Oh GOD THE STORY. XD I will openly warn all who are new to 'There She Is!!' that the while the first three episodes are relatively sunny, the fourth episode takes the world you've been growing to love and investing in emotionally and will turn it upside down. But despite the sudden mood whiplash, you will quickly find out the story is well worth keeping to, as the episode following after will not (And probably never will) fail to bring you back up to your feet. It was just the revelation of what the aesop of the story was and just how powerfully it's portrayed that really sells it. I want so much to say that I was on my feet and cheering the couple during my viewing of the 5th and final episode, but even if I wasn't I was not in the slightest disappointed by what I saw.
But perhaps what made this series so worth it was the relationship Doki and Nabi shared, and the trials and tribulations that both of them had to go through to finally be together. It was practically the bread and butter of the series, drawing it's watchers in in Episode 1, and keeping our attention all the way to the end. I literally found myself going 'AWWWW' at each cute moment between the two of them, and my heart warmed up significantly at the climax of ep 5. The ending doesn't tell us much aside from the fact that Doki and Nabi do end up together, and, while I would have loved to see where their relationship would've went from there, I understand that the resolution we got left the door open to fan-speculations and our own interpretations of what may come next, which can ultimately be more fun in it's own fashion.
Really, what more can be said about this series that likely hasn't been said already? This is 'THERE SHE IS!!' probably one of the most well known web-series out there and, frankly, I'm SHOCKED it took me this long to discover it.
TV Tropes had this to say about this series:
The sheer emotional impact and cuteness of its art, plot, and message can not be adequately explained with words. Having taken five years to complete, There she is!! is still considered one of the best flash series on the internet and is a must-see.
And frankly I'm inclined to agree with them... Me and the rest of the world. XD If there exists anyone out there that hasn't seen 'There She Is!!' I definately and openly suggest it. You can find the episodes on Newgrounds, and each one is well worth your time.
Until next time! (That is if I ever feel motivated and/or interested enough to review again. ^^
