Full Name: Criminy
Nickname(s): Crim, Crimnee, Crimmy
Age: Somewhere around late teens/young adult, I guess
Height: Short
Weight: Light
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Good
Home: Earth
Franchise: Sinfest
Physical Description
Criminy has pale light brown hair and brown eyes, over which he wears round wire-rimmed glasses. He typically wears yellow or white button shirts over grayish brown slacks and dark gray laceless shoes. He sometimes wears a red bow tie but doesn't as much as he used to.
Weapons
Tomey, the living demon book, may count, as well as the demonized feminist book he also usually has hopping around his feet. However, both were left behind in the Sinfest universe.
Abilities/Powers
Mortals in the Sinfest 'verse have shown the ability to "zen zap" like Buddha, so let's just say Criminy's learned to zen zap as well at some point prior to arrival on Dimensional Island. A Zen Zap is a blast of the caster's on personal spiritual energy which can bestow upon the zapped momentary enlightenment and quell any hostile emotions. When performed by anyone other than Buddha, however, it can come with some interesting side effects. Judging by the side effects produced by others such as Slick or Monique, those produced by Criminy may cause the zapped to feel the need for intellectual pursuits, to go stargazing, and if feeling particularly shy, to hide behind a fortress of books.
Skills
Being the avid reader he is, Crim has been shown the ability to take in vast amounts of written information and retain it remarkably well. He also works well with programming and technology, and he's a surprisingly good cook who could potentially make some pretty gourmet things provided he had the material. Crim can play the piano as well as the turntables, and he's provided background music for Slick at the cafe's open mic nights on multiple occasions. He's also a surprisingly skilled breakdancer, though he doesn't really like doing it in public.
Personality
Criminy is more thoughtful and reserved then most of the Sinfest cast, and he usually acts as the voice of reason to his two wilder friends. He's always polite to everyone, calling all either Mr. or Ms., including his friends, and seems to have an aura of child-like innocence that--along with the design of primary male characters in this comic--can make him appear younger than he is. In earlier years, he was incredibly shy and preferred to hide from the rest of the world behind a fortress of books. However, he has since gotten bolder and more outgoing, especially since his platonic romance with the former Devil babe Fuchsia began growing.
History
Criminy was a shy once from the very start, and he didn't have any friends as a kid until Slick came along and chased off some bullies that had been harassing him. And Crim remained loyal to Slick since as they grew up together, along with Slick's other friend, an anthropomorphic pig named Squigley. Despite Slick's obvious less-than-admirable traits, Criminy has stuck with him because he can see his more redeeming traits--traits that the former has been displaying openly a bit more lately. Crim has backed slick up in much of what he does over the years, with anything from providing background music when he performed on stage to being his campaign manager during his two horribly blotched bids for United States presidency.
One day, an appropriately-colored succubus named Fuchsia spotted him hiding in his "Fortress of Knowledge" (tall stacks of books he uses to hide himself) and tried to seduce him. When the local Christian fundamentalist named Seymour tried to tell her off, Fuchsia made to fry him, but Criminy managed to stop her by appealing to her better side. "But you were't always a Devil girl." Fuchsia had since grown intrigued by and then infatuated with Criminy's kind and gentle nature, something she wasn't used to seeing in other boys. Criminy gave her a book as a gift titled I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone it, People Like Me by Stuart Smalley, and she in return gave him a bedeviled tome he nicknamed Tomey and, with some difficulty, managed to tame.
As she began hanging out with him more to share in various activities such as reading and stargazing, their interactions began bringing out the best in both of them. Criminy was becoming more outgoing, and Fuchsia more sympathetic...even to the point of taking pity in and comforting the damned souls she was supposed to be tormenting. Fyoosh found it a terrible struggle, however, juggling her relationship with Criminy and her duties as a Devil girl. And her partner, Baby Blue, and even Satan himself were beginning to take notice.
But then one day, still not trusting her, Seymour came along and berated Fuchsia for still hanging around Criminy. When Fuchsia finally lost her temper with him and nearly burned him again, she was horrified by the fact that Criminy saw her that way and fled back to Hell in despair. After telling off the practically gloating Seymour with one firm "Enough!" and going home for a shovel, Criminy began digging his own improvtu Hell hole to find and comfort her in her time of sadness, gaining the blessing of two cherubs named Ezekiel and Ariel for his noble motives. The visit went downhill fast when the Devil made a surprise Performance Evaluation and caught him intruding. But with the help of Zeke and Ariel's "blessings", a form of holy glitter they sprinkled on him, he was able to temporarily tame one of Hell's demonic flying pitchforks and ride it to safety. Eventually, Fuchsia decided she had enough of being a bad girl and left Hell and the Devil Manor above for good to be with Criminy.
Other
Criminy's childhood described above is 100% headcanon. In layman's terms, I just made it up, but only because I can honestly see it being that way.
