Atsuro's expression remained defiant, but there was a distressed look in his eyes. Seth had... left? He'd been counting on Seth to stay there for Abel, but in the end he'd run away too... That meant that Abel was all alone now.
"So that's it then? The Court's just all... gone?"
"I don't require a human court, especially not one filled with members so easily swayed by my other self's influence," Abel said emotionlessly.
"Don't give me that crap!" Atsuro cried. "Are you seriously being this stupid about this?! Do you not care that your stubbornness has gotten everyone you care about to get killed or leave you?"
"I am not completely alone," Abel said vaguely.
From nearby, Naoki watched, making sure to not get too close. He was well aware that Abel had been hunting him down, and he wasn't interested in interrupting this conversation. From the sound of things, Seth had left to go join Messiah...

(OOC: YOUR REPLIES ARE NOT SHITTY. :I Also how do I kids.)
High Pixie had been playing the doll as Naoki had walked through the streets, although the way she had gripped the edge of his pocket and looked around was a bit more articulated than most. A ball jointed doll or particularly lifelike figure, then. Honestly she probably could have flown beside him, not that she knew that she'd have been passed of as a faerie by most observers. This was Dimensional Island, after all.
She'd been slowly coming to this conclusion on her own by the way a few people didn't seem to react to the teenage boy with a faerie doll sticking out of his pocket when Naoki had suddenly taken a sharp turn. Her ears had pricked up and she'd heard the sound of begging. Her eyes had widened and she'd blinked as she felt the muted sensations of a much stronger demon - and it wasn't "Nao-chan's" signature.
She frowned, looked up at Hitoshura for a moment, before focusing her attention on the exchange. A few things ticked off in her mind fairly quickly. Human form indicated a certain power level, and the muted feeling indicated more. At that level, he wasn't much below Hitoshura. The way her friend was reacting also indicated the blue haired "boy" as part of his reason for being here. The way Hitoshura was shielding himself meant she could only feel him because she was right on top of him. So he was hiding. She frowned more and continued to watch withotu saying anything. It wasn't that she couldn't fight lacking a Magnetite source, but she really would rather not.
---------
Despite the fairly flaweless charade he was part of, Cain did have to wonder what Atsuro had come around here for. For a few moments at least. It was likely the boy had meant to speak to Seth. Atsuro was frightened of Abel as any half-brained dimwit should be, but he maintained a link with Seth. He doubted it was far from unreturned by his youngest brother - under other circumstances they would have likely been close friends, perhaps second only to how Keiichi and Atsuro had been. There were more reasons than mere abandonment Cain had lost most of his respect for Atsuro...
Kanjou just stayed there, palms flat against the ground and the occasional shake of tears. Why wasn't Messiah... or... it didn't make any sense! All he could do was be terrified for his life until Messiah(?) decided what to do with him. One sob managed to be heard despite his efforts, and he locked up in expected retribution for the noise.

As the conversation wore on, Atsuro was starting to realize that he was going to lose his chance. He had no idea how he was going to get Abel's help in doing this, much less keep things from going further south than they already were. Actually, he had a hard time seeing how he was even going to get out of this alive.
"In any case, you're wasting my time. But I can't let you leave here when you've decided to flaunt your freedom. And clearly letting you run around on your own isn't doing you any good, Atsuro." He looked the gaunt boy up and down.
"N-No."
"I'm sorry?"
"I'm not going to be your toy! I'm being pulled around by enough people right now as it is! Go ahead and kill me, I don't care! But I'm not going to be your servant!" Atsuro yelled. "You've completely lost yourself, K1! If this is how you're acting then how do you expect to stop God?!"
"Who else is using you, Atsuro."
"Th-That's none of your business!"
"Tell me!" K1 snapped. Atsuro didn't meet his eyes as he spoke.
"I'm not being forced to work for a lawyer, or Nyarlathotep! You're the only one who is pulling me around like this."
"I see," Abel said quietly.

High Pixie remaind silent. The barely visible gap between strengths between her and Naoki had vanished quickly after they met. Even after her gains in power, only one of which he'd been present for, the distance between them stretched into miles. She'd take his lead, and if that at the moment consisted of spying, she would comply. Questions, if she broached them, would come later. Not that it took a genius to get the gist of it. A demon at the blue haired boy's power was likely being scouted by the Great Demon King... and his reasoning for orders were honestly about as clear as YHVH's actions were to her most of the time - not that she would have ever admitted that out loud. ---------- So, to ask for Seth's advice about the situation he was in. Or to warn Seth so he could warn Abel. Cain had no illusions about Atsuro's desire to avoid a confrontation directly with Abel. It made him smart, not a coward... Atsuro had only launched into the realm of fools in how he'd handled it, not the aims themselves. Kanjou's body shook with tears.

"I suppose you don't want to tell me who that lawyer is, do you?" Abel continued.
"You can figure it out yourself." Atsuro took a step back. "If Seth's not here, then I don't have any reason to stay around here. Say hi to your clone for me."
He bent down and put a hand around Kanjou's wrist.
"Come on! We're getting out of here, okay?" He tugged on the boy's wrist and pulled him to his feet. There was no way he was leaving this kid with Abel. He broke off running, with the boy in tow. Abel stood back and let them run away. Had Atsuro not been as rattled as he was then, he would have thought that odd.
It wasn't until he was a good distance away from the hotel that Atsuro stopped. He turned toward the boy. "You okay?"
--------------
Abel ran a hand through his hair. So Nyarlathotep was scouting Atsuro, and some lawyer was using him for something. He couldn't allow Nyarlathotep to run rampant, and the lawyer was likely connected... But he couldn't do anything unless he had more information.
Maybe that was why Cain had let himself get dragged off like that. Well, it would be nice to have a spy now that Nyarlathotep was gone.
He walked back into the hotel. He needed to make another attempt at Babel.
Naoki waited for Abel to enter the hotel before speaking up. "He still doesn't know what he's doing, then."

Not that he would have admitted it to anyone, Cain's planning was to simply go with the flow of the situation. He had expected Atsuro to pull him away, however, and the plans to go with him if it happened had already been set. So when Atsuro grabbed Kanjou's wrist, the boy let out a startled surprise and put up no resistance. He barely managed to keep his footing as Atsuro dashed off, his hand clamped around the boy's wrist.
When Atsuro stopped, Kanjou still had momentum going. He managed to finally trip over his own foot and hit the ground hard. He didn't begin sobbing again, although his shoulders still shook from time to time. He seemed to push himself up via willpower, and the look on his face as he turned to Atsuro was one of terrified confusion.
"What... what's going on! That... he..." Kanjou sniffled and rubbed his eyes with the base of one of his palms. The kid's nose was running, and his attempts at words had degenerated into blubbers.
----------
"Um... Nao-chan? Can I ask what's going on?? Who was that??" High Pixie tilted her head up to look at Naoki.

Atsuro took a moment to catch his breath. That had been quite a sprint he put in there. The kid looked really confused, too... "Well... that wasn't your Abel... he was the one from my world, not yours. And I managed to piss him off."
------------
Naoki began to take steps away from the hotel. He didn't want to risk running into Abel now that he was done with his subordinate.
"The blue-haired demon was Abel, King of Bel. The teenager in the hat was Atsuro, one of his subordinates who defected from him. The kid who was playing dumb the whole time was Cain, Abel's brother," Naoki explained. "When I came to this island, it was to observe Abel, who Lucifer had taken interest in. I then decided the best way to improve Abel's rule was to kill some of his subordinates."
He looked toward High Pixie. "...Don't look at me like that. It was the best way to get him to learn. He wouldn't have lasted a minute in the actual fights against Him with the mindset he had before. But I guess he didn't completely learn, since he still let someone with Court secrets just run off."
He put a hand on his head. "I'm not sure why Lucifer bothers with them... The king's powerful, but he doesn't have the mind to properly handle that kind of power... he's just a child at heart."

Cain had to consider for a moment, which was quite well covered up with a confused and frightened look from Kanjou. He'd already established his knowledge of other worlds, but there was no reason a child even in the "utopia" Messiah had helped create would understand the concept of multiple realities, multiple versions of a person.
"B-But he's still the Messiah, right? Y-you're in... we're in danger! We should go apologize!! I m-mean... he won't..." Kanjou got a determined look on his face, scrubbing away tears with both hands now. His expression shifted to that stubborn look of a child who was not going to budge for nothing even though what he'd decided to do was entirely foolish, "Are you sure we can avoid him? God can always find people, can't he?"
The supposition was far from true, but it was the impression YHVH and Messiah tried to put forth.
----------
To be honest, High Pixie had never really paid all that much attention to the inner myths and legends surrounding others, so the references to Cain and Abel were rather lost on her. She did frown as he explained, looking almost heartbroken. She jerked in surprise as he told her not to look at him like that. Well, geez, excuse her for feeling a little bad about what Hitoshura'd had to leave behind! Even if he didn't remember the stress he'd gone through before choosing to follow Lucifer, she did!
"I'm not sure why the Great Demon King does anything to be honest," High Pixie finally said, "I mean, you know I kind of stay out of that for the most part! I fight with you cause I like you, not cause of any silly alliances or anything like that!" Pixies and High Pixies were a Neutral race after all, and often guided by the feel of the moment.
She nodded to herself for a moment before suddenly flyiing out of Hitoshura's pocket and in front of his face, leaning far over with her hands on her hips and an unpleased frown on her face. She expected no more reaction from the way her chest would be right in front of his face than she'd ever gotten from him, though. It was so weird compared to most males, but she'd honestly just chalked it up to something about the human to demon equation.
"But besides all that, you're acting weird! I haven't seen you this uncertain since that Yuko lady you don't seem to remember got herself killed! I don't know what you're about to decide, but it's obviously something big," she took one of her hands off her waist and shaked a finger at him under his nose, "And don't try and tell me it's nothing. I helped you almost your entire time in the Vortex World, whether you remember most of it or not, and I won't have you trying to pass me off, you hear me?"

Atsuro's eyes widened in confusion as Kanjou continued on. What was he talking about? Hadn't that encounter been proof enough that that wasn't the Messiah? Or...
He shook his head. "That guy wasn't the Messiah. He's actually the king of demons back where I was from. My guess was he was pretending to be the Messiah to get some sick kicks out of you." He grinned. "Don't worry, you're gonna be okay so long as you're with me."
---------------
Naoki blinked as Pixie suddenly flew in front of his face and started ranting off at him. He was acting weird? How was he being weird? Was it something in his face? His stance? He wasn't sure what she meant.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said honestly. "There's a guy staying with Abel that I've been wanting to talk to lately, but it's nothing major. And he's off on assignment right now. It wouldn't be right for me to interrupt him."

Kanjou didn't look convinced. He blinked in surprise though as Atsuro assured him he'd be alright. He looked down and shifted his feet, chewing on his lower lip for a moment.
"So the Messiah isn't here after all...? Does that mean I'm really trapped here...?"
----------
Pixie flew backwards a bit so she seemed to be sitting as she crossed her arms in mid-air, "Aaah, I'm not sure how to define it! But it's like you're concerned about something! You said he's got subordinates alive, right? Did killing the ones before do any good?"

Atsuro bent down and ruffled the kid's hair. "For now, yeah. But don't worry. We'll find a way off of here eventually... Got it?"
He wasn't really sure what he was doing. He'd never been particularly good with kids, and this was a kid who had been living in Messiah's wannabe utopia and ended up here instead.
"Come on. I've got a place you can stay further down the street, okay? We'll keep you safe there."
---------------
"...He said that he was tired of running, and he seems to have stopped running from confrontations," Naoki commented. "But other than that, not much has changed."

Kanjou's lips drew up in a pout as Atsuro ruffled his hair, but he had seemed to stop crying and sniffling at least. He reached up and began smoothing down his hair again as soon as Atsuro straightened up, but he managed to give a sullen nod at the same time. He'd stay on Atsuro's heels as soon as he walked off.
"Mister, what's your name? I'm Kanjou!"
----------
High Pixie wilted a bit, "Oh... Then I guess killing the other subordinates wouldn't do any good..."

"Huh?" Atsuro paused. He didn't really want to go around handing out his name, but this was just a kid, right? And with how honest the kid had felt so far, he didn't see any harm in telling him. He started walking back in the direction of the apartments.
"I'm Atsuro. It's nice to meet you, Kanjou," he said with a grin.
--------------
"No, most likely not," Hitoshura agreed. "But I don't want to ask Lucifer for advice... he'd likely just laugh at me if I did anyways."

High Pixie blinked and looked at Naoki as if trying to figure out what he'd just said. After a moment she leaned forward and put a small hand on his forehead, drawing it back and cupping the side of her face, "You are acting weird. Well, he may not be available for advice, but what about this? If there was some change, maybe you just didn't kill the right people? What about seeing what happens if you kill the others?"

Naoki frowned. She was really insistent on this whole he-was-acting-weird thing. "I could probably kill Cain easily enough... Atsuro as well. But I'm not too sure on Seth."
Why wasn't he too sure on Seth? Sure, he could regenerate, but there were ways around that. He'd fought demons like that before, after all... "B-Besides, Seth's under Messiah's protection, and that would be difficult..."
