> Alex: Be Past Alex
How long have you been stuck in the void since your session was scratched?
To be honest, you don't know. But any changes of scenery are welcome. Man what you wouldn't give to see that wide open blue sky of the battlefield of Skaia, riddled with battle scars though the land may be. Or perhaps the dismal grey skies of the Land of Alloy and Cadaver or maybe the-
Equally dismal sight of the caverns somewhere deep underground?
.............. You look around a moment trying to figure out where you were with no avail...
[Okay dropping the Homestuck format now.]
.... "What the hell?" He looked around a bit more........ "Where am I?"
After a second however, something quickly caught his attention. When he turned to look, he found what appeared to be a building amidst the tunnels... And the building appeared to be floating over a gigantic amount of void... Now that he looked, he appeared to be floating in said void as if he was only feet deep....
After a moment, he found what appeared to be a rock overhanging that bridged the building with an opening in the giant cavern...
Focusing his powers, he used the void as a stepping stone and lifted himself up to the rock overhanging where he stepped out onto the first solid ground he had ever known in a long time.
He looked around the cavern a second, before he looked back to the temple....
Hmmm.... Looked interesting....
Let's go check it out...

Jaron had been walking through the tunnels for several hours now. He was getting a little tired, not to mention hungry. He wearily sat down against the wall of the tunnel and sighed. "How big is this place?" he said aloud.
He was worried for the others. He had no idea if they had managed to escape the warehouse before it collapsed. But...
Something told him that they were all right. Probably a gut feeling. He would know for sure when he got out of there.
"Well, no time like the present," he said to himself. He stood up, stretched, checked the sword piece tucked into his belt, and took a step forward--
Only to step on something. "Huh?"
He knelt down and picked up the object. It was some sort of yellow doll, like a bear or something. It had two small, felt tails. Something seemed oddly familiar about it.
He brushed it off a little; it was pretty dirty. "I wonder what you're doing down here," he said to the doll. "Well, maybe after I wash you up a bit I could give you to Red as a present; she might like you."
With the doll in hand, he descended the tunnel.

"Hup up up! Best you stop where you are young man, Lest you wish to end up missing in this great giant land."
Jaron stopped where he was when he heard that rhyming voice.
When he turned, he found himself being approached by a tiny little figure that looked quite foreign with tan brown skin blondish brown hair, and wearing mage armor.
"Curious, I can imagine you must be at this time, It makes sense of course my traps are as genius as my rhyme! Hohohohoho! But of course that leads to a question child, What are you doing here, out of place, and in the wild?"
---------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile in the Heart Temple...
Alex continued down the hallways of the temple... And the more he walked, the more he took notice of the many heiroglyphs that covered the walls; murals that told the story of a time long since forgotten...
In this place, the void told him much... The Void could tell him a lot about this place since this place has been a conduit of the nothingness that it hung over for such a long time...
As he walked down the hall, listening to the Void however... An interesting mass of... Something seemed to appear in the nothingness, catching his attention of it's presence long before whatever the something could sense the Thief of Void...

Jaron jumped in surprise as the figure revealed herself. "Whoa--what?!" He sighed in relief when he saw her. "Oh, finally! I thought I'd never meet anyone down here! This whole place is depressing, I'll tell you that--all darkness and dampness, it's a bit annoying." He held out a hand. "I'm Jaron. What's your name?"
A few moments after Alex detected the presence, it vanished. If Alex continued to go down the hall, he would've come across the central chamber of the temple. And if he looked carefully, he could see a door in the middle of the room that--judging from the design--looked rather out of place of its surroundings. Of course, if Alex chose to investigate this, he would've gotten an alert from his HOLOGRAPHIC COMPUTER KEYBOARD indicating that someone was contacting him on Pesterchum. ...Despite the fact that the thing was on sleep mode...

Shantotto didn't return the hand shake, but she looked the man up and down a moment, as if sizing him up... She could already tell there was a great magical power coming from him.
"Hmmmmm.... You have a great power on your person, young mysterious kid. You've piqued my curiousity a great deal to say the least! Great potential that is hid!"
After a second, she shrugged before returning the handshake.
"Professor Shantotto of the Windurst Academy are my titles. Call me professor if you are interested in keeping your vitals."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Alex heard his computer going off, he looked a fair amount surprised... "... The hell?"
After a second of to send the nonverbal order to his VOID CAPTALOUGE, he pulled out his computer and saw the message that awaited him...
Great... This idiot was talking with white text. He needed to highlight it to even see it.

"Great power? Potential?" Jaron rubbed the back of his head, embarrassed. "I dunno, I'm not all that special. But it's nice to meet you, Professor." As he shook her hand, he asked, "I hope you don't mind me asking, but what are you doing down here? I wound up falling into the caves myself..." Some distance away from the warehouse, Soul Edge witnessed its destruction stabbed into the earth of a hill. "And it all ends with a bang."
His companion, who was sitting a few feet away, merely replied with a grunt.
"I find it odd that you would come to retrieve me from the wielder of my sister, after our initial meeting. Why do it?"
"I was in the area," was the short answer. "And you looked promising. Then again, you WERE Kavma's pet in there."
If Soul Edge had teeth, he would've gritted them. "What will you do with me now, then? Leave me on this spot, for the next fool to come across me?"
"That is an invite to trouble and you know it."
"Then I suggest a deal."
His companion glanced in his direction. "Meaning?"
"You hold a great deal of hate for Kavma. I too loathe that man for imprisoning me. We could benefit from helping each other."
"In short, you want to team up because we're more or less after the same thing."
"Perhaps."
There was a moment of silence as he considered the offer.
"...Fine. But I'm not doing it to be nice. If I leave you here some unsuspecting smuck will come along, then you'll do you body takeover thing, and then sooner or later I'll have to deal with you."
"You seem unafraid that I may do the same to you."
"You already tried," Zero replied. "Look how well that turned out."
End Flashback.

.....................................
Okay....
Alex switched off his HOLOGRAPHIC COMPUTER KEYBOARD, and put it back in his VOID CAPTCHALOGUE...
MAN what a wackjob.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Back with Shantotto and Jaron, the professor looked to the man before her... There was now way he could have been real. His magical aura was very apparent for those with as much experience in magic as her.
........ Still... If he didn't KNOW about his magic...
She grinned a bit at the question.
"Study of ancient and forgotten history is my answer to thee, And fell down a hole did you? Quite fitting if you ask me."
She looked the man up and down.
"To put it simply to you, my young uneducated friend, Deep inside these tunnels, a ruins I found; quite the god send! In these ruins you see, many mysteries abound and hide Just waiting for eyes worthy to see, and me the revealing tide."

Jaron was a little miffed at being called 'uneducated', but he let that slide. He felt that starting an argument with this woman would be a bad idea. Something seemed off about her.
"So you're down here to look at ruins?" He asked. "Well, is it all right if I come along? I'm totally lost down here--"
He couldn't help but blush as he helped her up. Something about her seemed--
Jaron paused and put a hand to his head. "...huh..." Noticing Shantotto's look, he hastily said, "Uh, nothing, it's nothing."
If one were to enter the mysterious DOOR, they would find a rather bland, grey hallway, at the end of which had another door, which led to a slightly larger hallway adorned with pillars and odd pedestals (which held evidence that they used to hold statues once upon a time), which also had another door at the end.
If one entered THIS door, the room beyond would be quite the contrast to the hallways before it. To be specific, it was a 100ft tall, 500ft wide room reminiscent of a cathedral, colored stark white. Massive pillars lined the walls, along with the odd pedestals. Some of these actually still had statues, though they appeared so worn with age that they were impossible to identify, though the least damaged one appeared to be a great bird of some sort. In the middle of this room was a large podium, along with a different kind of pedestals than the ones that had the statues.
But the room's most noticeable feature would be the massive, featureless door that completely dominated the wall, going up as high as the ceiling.
In front of this door was Zero, who stood completely motionless.
He could barely breathe. He was shaking in pure shock. There were no words.
He slowly walked towards the door, extending a hand towards it. He hesitated, then placed his hand upon it.
...
...
...
"No way."
He slowly began to snicker, which turned into a chuckle, which in turn transformed into full blown laughter. "I can't believe it!" he cried, stepping back and throwing out his arms. "What are the odds? Of all the places for it to turn up, it had to be here!"
"And what, exactly, is so important about this doorway?" grumbled the sword hanging from his belt.
Zero flatly ignored him as he approached the door again and placed his hand back upon it. Guess what, Kavma? he thought, grinning. I don't need you now!
He pushed.
Nothing happened.
... ... ...
He pushed again. Nothing. He began to shove against the door, grunting with the exertion as he pushed with all his might.
The door refused to yield. Zero stepped back, frustrated. "Damn thing is probably stuck." He drew Soul Edge, saying, "I'm going to need you here for a second."
"What--?"
Without any preamble, he stuck the blade between the crack of the door, attempting to use it as a lever.
"AGH! Stop! STOP! I am not a key!"
"Oh, shut up you big baby!" Zero grunted. "It's just a stupid door, you can take it!"
About five minutes later, the thing still refused to open. Zero withdrew Soul Edge, who was muttering dark and evil things about sword misuse, and stepped back to examine the door fully. If looks could kill, the door would've been burnt to the ground.
Pity that it actually didn't happen. "This thing's gigantic," Zero muttered. "Maybe there's a lever or button or something, some sort of system that'll open it."
He turned to the podium, thinking. He went over to examine it. On the pedestal appeared to be a slot of some sort.
"Something appeared to have occupied this space before," Edge observed. "Like a key of some sort."
No sh*t, Sherlock. "Or a sword," Zero added.
...
...
...
"...Don't you DARE--"
Zero lifted up Edge, saying, "Come on, deal with it. Just lie back and think of England, if that helps."
And he proceeded to insert the demon sword into the slot.
BWAAAFSH!!!!
(I'm not kidding, it really did sound like that.)
Both man and sword yelled in shock and surprise as Zero was blown back from the pedestal onto his back. Edge flipped through the air and stuck into the ground blade first.
"That went as well as can be expected," Edge said sarcastically.
"Shut the hell up," Zero said wearily.
There has to be some way to open this damnable door, he thought irritably. An opportunity this big lands into my lap and I am NOT going to waste it! Come on, Zero, THINK, what did that stupid report say about this thing?!
He honestly wished he still had his hat. The report was still in it, along with that...other thing. He cursed Max repeatedly.

Shantotto looked to the young man with a curious expression, before shrugging a bit. Hey, it wasn't any of her business.
"It matters not your actions at this time and place Their is so much to see here, so yourself? You better brace."
She walks ahead of Jaron and waved a hand.
There was a flash of powerful magic, before something fizzled out, revealing to Jaron QUITE apparently why she had stopped him before he took another step.
"This way to the sights of the sites, young adventurer, Prepare to see things from a beyond unlike any other."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zero suddenly heard the door open, and the second it did, Soul Edge suddenly felt a powerful surge of pure void energy.
"What's going on HERE then?"
Alex took in the sight before him, his visage probably somewhat intimidating in the dimly lit tunnel. Even more so given the VOID CAPTCHALOGUE hung out near his waist.
"Interesting find... The void tells me very little about this place... Apparently it was only added on recently..." He took in Zero, the dark rings under his eyes prominent. "Something tells me you know more about this place then anybody..."

Jaron jumped as Shantotto did her magic thing. "Whoa!"
Now he knew why he had such a funny feeling about her. He made a mental note to never get her angry in the future.
He had to admit that the professor was odd, what with her tendency to rhyme and everything, but for now, he knew he could trust her.
He just hoped that they would be able to get back topside soon.
And with that, he readjusted his grip on the doll and nodded to her. "Lead the way, Professor."
Soul Edge was immediately intrigued by the youth. The strange form of energy that surrounded him certainly grabbed his attention.
And let's not forget his obvious resemblance to a certain mage of all trades.
...
"The f*ck?"
Zero clearly did not share his interest. He sat up and blinked at the newcomer.
He had no idea who this was, or what he was doing there, or what business he had asking him questions. He was so close, and some nosy busybody had to show up spouting nonsense. He was seriously reconsidering his luck right now.
The look of the guy didn't help matters. Probably some hobo, judging from his clothing and his apparent lack of sleep. The sight of an apparent target symbol on his shirt didn't help any.
Zero stood up, grabbing Edge's hilt for support. "What the hell do you want? I'm busy. Get out. Go rob a cat or something."
"If you do not mind me saying so," said Soul Edge, "Perhaps he might be able to assist us?"
The reply was a swift punch to the broad side of his blade.
"Can it," Zero grumbled. He ignored Alex and turned to the door, seething. "I am going to make you open, whether you like it or not!"
He ran forward, yelling, and shoved the whole of the blade into the crack.
"OW! Stop this at once--AAAAUGH!!!"
Zero began to push on the hilt with all his might. The door refused to open.
He yelled in frustration and withdrew Soul Edge, kicking the door in anger. "THIS DOOR IS A BITCH!"
He stepped back, breathing heavily. "Calm down, calm down," he said to himself. "Come on, there has to be some way to open this damn thing, I'm so close..."
He kicked the thing again and turned to see that Alex was still looking at him. "What the--are you still here? Get lost!"

Alex took in the sight before him with a raised eyebrow. Hell, had he been a more cheery person, he probably would have been laughing, or at least, chuckling at the sight before him. As he was however, he shook his head pitiably at the sight.
Looked to him like somebody was in a tough spot.
> Alex: Examine Door
As the man tried his best to pry the door open, you approach the door and take in the sight, trying your best to figure out what sort of importance it had with the temple. The Void told you decidedly very little about it, as this door wasn't part of this void based temple until just recently... But if that was the case, what was it then? Where did it lead?
The door was definately sturdy enough, as the pitiful man trying to pry it open proved. You really don't KNOW what his deal is. But apparently, whatever's beyond that door is of great interest to him...
Hmmmmmmmmmm
> Alex: Examine intruders in Void Temple
You carefully read the void inside both Soul Edge and Zero...
....................................................................
......................................................................
.................................................................................
JESUS AND YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD PROBLEMS.
> Alex: Go back to Door
You go back to looking at the door....
And you suddenly decide that whatever's behind this door couldn't possibly be good if this man got his hands on it.
[Dropping Homestuck style]
"Why would you want in this door?"
He knocked on the giant Marble door a second. "Seems pretty solid to me." Crossing his arms, he looked to Zero. "Places like this are usually locked for a reason."

The reply was the point of a sword in Alex's face.
Zero was already getting tired of this guy and his nosy questions. He didn't like the way that he had looked at him a second ago either.
"Is there something about 'get lost' that you refuse to understand?" Zero demanded. "I don't have to tell you ANYTHING, you bastard, now get out of my sight or--"
He paused and examined Alex's face more clearly.
"...You look somewhat familiar, have I threatened you before?" he asked him.
Meanwhile, outside the temple...
Jaron was amazed at the site of the temple. Who knew that this was all the way down here?
He and Shantotto had managed to find a bridge of rock leading over the...moat... or whatever it was. He tried hard not to think of what might happen if he fell off.
"Can you hold this for a minute?" He asked Shantotto, handing the doll to her. He turned back to the bridge and sighed heavily. "I'll go first."
He slowly took his first step on the bridge. "Okay, steady, steady," he muttered. He took another step--
And nearly slipped.
"AGH!"
He groped for a handhold, managing to grab onto the bridge with both arms before he could fall into the void.
"Too close, way too close," he said nervously. He carefully got back up and began to cross the rest of the bridge. "Why could'n't they have built a better bridge--YAH!"
He slipped again. He hugged the narrow rock with all limbs, breathing heavily. "Come on, get your act together," he told himself. He began to inch his way across the rest of the bridge, finally making it after a full minute.
He climbed onto the solid ground and stood up, sighing in relief. He turned to Shantotto and shouted, "Okay, you try! Try to be careful, all right? I'll try to help you if you fall!"

Back with Zero and Alex...
Well, Zero didn't get QUITE the response he was likely looking for from Alex. Instead, what he got was those tired eyes taking in the sword a second....
..........
Before they looked to Zero as if to say, '....... Really?'
Looking non-plussed, he pushed the sword by the flat of the blade, away from his face rather calmly. "I haven't had the displeasure no. It isn't my memory either... Trust me. I'd remember an asshole like you." He took a step back. "Look. I have no interest in fighting you... Frankly, I'd win before you even get the chance to lift that sword of yours."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Back outside, Shantotto looked to the bridge Jaron had just crossed, to the doll he placed in her hand and then at the moat of void before her......
She suddenly snapped her fingers in her free hand.
Leaving Jaron slackjawed, Shantotto simply floated over the moat in a bubble of magic, and in the time it took for him to mutter nonsense in disbelief, she had landed on the other side and placed the doll back in his hand.
"Shall we move on? Much knowledge to don."

Jaron just stood there, sputtering in disbelief. "I--but--you--why--" He threw his hands into the air in exasperation. "Oh, never mind!"
He followed the professor into the temple, grumbling about why people couldn't simply go with the easy solution first...
Zero was SO tempted to stab him before he could blink and prove him wrong, he really was, but he did not look forward to the prospect of having a corpse decomposing nearby while he tried to get this damn door open.
That aside, there was definitely something about this guy that rang a bell in Zero's head. Might as well keep him alive until he remembered.
"Oh, never mind, to hell with you," he snapped, sheathing Soul Edge. "I don't have time for this. I'm busy, in case you haven't noticed, so do me a favor and get lost before I get really angry!"
Soul Edge kept his mouth (?) shut. He briefly considered telling Zero about his suspicions in regards to this boy (He could tell by his aura that, while he was similar to Gantz in more ways that one, he wasn't THE Gantz), but ultimately decided that it would be more fun to just stand by and watch.
Zero turned away from Alex and kicked the door in annoyance. "Come on, think, think, some sort of key, some sort of...of..."
And NOW he remembered.
The gate can only be operated when the Key is in place. This Key can appear as many objects, such as a--
A key.
...a key that was probably...with...
Kavma.
...
...
...
"FUCK!"
Zero punched the door in anger. "You have to be kidding me..."
He had come all the way down here, found this door out of pure luck, only to find that he didn't have the one thing he needed to open it, which was most likely either with Kavma or one of his stooges.
"Back to square one," he muttered. Even if he didn't have to get Kavma to do what he initially wanted him to do, he would most likely still have to get this 'key' off of him. Well, he figured he might as well get to it. He would try the Regnum Dei first. Hopefully he would at least find out its location there.
He turned on his heel and marched toward the exit leading back into the temple proper. shoving Alex out of the way. "Move it, rakeman."
Jaron couldn't help marvel at the inside of the temple. He didn't really understand the murals and hieroglyphics upon the walls, but they were pretty cool to look at. He kept looking left and right as he followed Shantotto down the hallway leading to the center of the temple.
"How long do you think this has been down here, Professor?" he asked curiously.

Alex watched Zero as he took his leave, his eyes narrowed at the retreating back. Heh, Rakeman. REAL original.
.......... After a second, he turned back to the marble door and took it in a second...
Well... Being a thief, he figured he'd give it a try.
> Alex: Be the Thief of Void
You approach the door carefully, looking for any sort of opening or energy signatures in the door. The door itself was blocked by a powerful kind of magic that you had never seen before, not even on Skaia from the White Queen. As you carefully observe the door you find no imperfections in it whatsoever, neither in the door or the magic that incased it...
==>
(Alex raises his hand, a purplish black energy appearing in his hand.)
Oh well... THAT'S what the void is for.
> Alex: Negate magic on door.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Shantotto and Jaron continued down the hall a second before the Tarutaru answered the young man's question.
"To answer your question without the need of a few seers, These ruins have been here, for as easily as 3000 years."
She motioned to the many heiroglyphs on the walls around them.
"These markings on the wall are clues and stories of a clan that existed on this island long ago, A clan that worshiped the Void and it's never-ending nothingness, A tale of great misfortune and woe."
She chortled to herself.
"Hohohohoho- a great amount of idiots the lot were, The void IS nothingness and all it implies... Do you not concur?"
