Sadly, even if Alex tried, he wouldn't be able to negate the magic of the door because there WASN'T any magic to negate.
He could be excused for thinking so, though. There certainly was SOME sort of energy surrounding the thing.
A clan that worshipped a void? So they worshiped nothing? Jaron wasn't sure if he understood what the Professor was rambling about.
He shrugged. "I guess--"
He paused. "...Hey, did you hear something?"
Without waiting for a response, he ran down the hallway towards the sound of the voice. He was sure that he had heard yelling...
Zero grumbled in annoyance as he followed the hallway that lead back to the temple.
"Who WAS that guy?" he muttered.
At this point, Jaron had reached the central chamber. He paused to look at his surroundings, impressed by how large the room was.
"Wonder what they did in here..." he said to himself.
His attention was then directed at the small door in the middle of the room. "...?"
He walked over to it and examined it. It was just a small, plain white double door, nothing fancy. "He reached over to open it...
Zero grabbed the doorknob, thinking, Any more interruptions and someone will DIE.
He opened the door.
Jaron blinked.
So did Zero.
"...For crying out loud," Zero said, exasperated.
"...Uh, hi," Jaron replied. "Do you live here?"

Back with Alex, he stopped pushing void onto the door upon realizing that the void was doing decidedly nothing against the odd energy on the door. "Hmmm... Interesting..." Normally Void was very good at canceling out anything like this... The fact that it wasn't here was pretty interesting. "I wonder..."
He gently touched the door, before carefully taking in the slot where a sword would fit into it like a key... ... Looking around a second, he thought a bit about this.
> Alex: Make Makeshift Key
Out of the VOID CAPTCHALOUGE comes one of your favorite keepsakes; a decorative sword from your old room back home. It was an African forged blade, straight and narrow, with animal leather covering the hilt, and a rope strap that would allow the weapon to hang from your shoulder. It wasn't equipped to your strife specibus simply because you liked battering weapons more then cutting weapons.
Still this thing would be able to help you experiment with what this door is. It seemed unlikely that the sword would open it... But still, it didn't hurt to test the door and better figure things out.
==>
(Alex inserts the sword into the slot.)
....... You suddenly feel immensely silly doing this...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shantotto looked confused at the sudden noise herself, and quickly saw her new pet-proje- I mean, her guest running off. Looking a fair bit curious, she quickly rushed towards the noise herself to go take a look herself.
By the time she caught up, Jaron and Zero had already ran into each other. Shantotto looked at the man up and down... Hmm, nothing too interesti-
Then her eyes fell on Soul Edge.
"My-my, hohohohohoho! What a strange and fascinating coincidence, this ordeal! To meet the fake of the very same weapon in your hand intruder, then to meet the real deal!"
She chortled as she walked up.
"But now a question perplexes my mind to the core, Do tell young man, how is it you are below the ground floor? I had set quite a few traps in this place And yet you made it through, quite saving face."

Sadly, nothing happened when Alex inserted the blade. But he received an alert from his HOLOGRAPHIC COMPUTER KEYBOARD indicating someone was contacting him on Pesterchum again. Somehow.
A minute before Shantotto arrived... Zero normally would've punched this guy in the face and walked right past him to leave, but the question made him pause. "...do I LOOK like I live in this dump?" he asked. "Now out of my way." He moved to shove Jaron out of the way. Jaron took a step back, causing him to miss. "Hey, sorry! No need to be rude!" He held out a hand. "I'm Yana--uh, Jaron. Sorry. Memory loss, couldn't remember my name until recently. What's yours?" Zero was beginning to think that this guy was a little funny in the head. "It's none of your business who I am," he snapped, "Now MOVE." He pushed past him towards the exit. "Hey!" SOMEONE'S not very friendly... thought Jaron. "One moment, Zero."Zero stopped. "For God's sake, what is it?" "I believe I know that boy..." Jaron took a step back. "That voice...Nightmare?!" Zero turned to Jaron, and he could see the sword at the red man's belt. "Hmph. I see you survived.""You know him?" Zero asked. "He is the one I was forced into combat with, prior to our meeting before."Jaron's hand went to the shard in his pocket. "What're you doing with this guy?" "The two of us have an understanding. You see--"POKE. "That's enough," Zero interrupted. "As much as I HATE to interrupt this heartfelt reunion, I need to go. So--" "Wait, hold on! Don't you realize how dangerous that sword is?" Jaron asked. "He--" And then Shantotto showed up.
began pestering gantzGun [GG] at ??:?? I admit that if I had been more polite you might have decided to listen to me. But there would've been an equal chance of you going ahead anyway. The only good thing that came out of this is that you're still alive. For now. By the way, don't bother trying to open that door. There is nothing you can do to get that thing to move.
Zero stared at the strange little woman in confusion. "... The hell are you talking about, you little imp?" Why is she rhyming? Did she come straight out of a Mother Goose book? And what did she mean by traps? I didn't run into anything on my way down here..."Do you know this guy, Professor?" Jaron interjected. ...Professor?

Shantotto looked to Zero a second, and shook her head.
"The young man, Jaron, I have never met in my life, His SWORD, however, I have met and have had strife."
She looked at the sword with a mild fascination, grinning somewhat to herself.
"Or rather, I have met a COPY of the infamous Soul Edge, created by a devil, But may I just say, young man, that the real thing is well beyond this so called fake's level."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
When Alex pulled out the sword, he looked to find that his pesterchum was once AGAIN bothering him... What the hell? He thought he shut that thing off. Resheathing his african sword and putting it in his VOID CAPTCHALOGUE, he pulls out his HOLOGRAPHIC COMPUTER KEYBOARD and finds that it's been turned on again... Oh come on... THIS joker?
AGAIN?
----------------------------------
I admit that if I had been more polite you might have decided to listen to me. But there would've been an equal chance of you going ahead anyway. The only good thing that came out of this is that you're still alive. For now. By the way, don't bother trying to open that door. There is nothing you can do to get that thing to move. GG: PFF! Oh come on! You AGAIN? GG: What are you even talking about? All I found beyond the door, well not THAT door mind you, but all I found was some asshole with a demon sword. GG: And why can't I open this thing? What's beyond it anyways? GG: Okay, look, it's pretty obvious I'm no longer on Skaia, and you seem reasonably smart. Tell me, where exactly am I? And who was that man I met?
...................... After a pause, he continued.
GG: The man named Zero? Or should I even call him that?

If anything, you're better off getting as far away from it as you can.
This was more than enough to interest Soul Edge. "A fake? Of me? I don't know whether to be insulted or flattered."
"Go with insulted, it's easier," Zero snarked.
Jaron made a mental note to ask Shantotto what she meant by a fake later. "Listen, that's all well and good, but that thing is dangerous. You need to--"
"I KNOW it's dangerous, I KNOW what it does, and I. Don't. CARE." Zero poked Jaron in the chest. "It doesn't even concern you anyway."
"Doesn't mean I can't get worried!"
"Over a stranger?" Zero facepalmed. "Oh, forget this, I don't have time to deal with..."
He trailed off, noticing the doll in Jaron's hand. "...Where did you get that?"
Jaron held up the doll in surprise. "What, this? It was in the tunnel back--" Zero swiped it. "Hey! Give it back!"
Jaron moved to grab the doll, only for Zero to smack him in the face, knocking him backward. As Jaron got back up, he stared at the doll, his face unreadable.

Alex raised his eyebrow at this, unsure what to make of this. A second later, he typed a little bit at Pesterchum, before looking to the door... A second of curiosity passed before he continued.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

If you know as much about Sburb as your leading me to suspect, you know pretty well, that breaking the rules is one of the most primary ways to win the game. GG: Just call it being raised the right in the ways of the world. GG: Maybe if you give me a few details I might consider it. I already know a few pieces of the story thanks to the void within Zero. And before you say I don't wanna know, do know that I've seen my fair share of strange things, whether it be time based or otherwise.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shantotto looked a bit curious at Zero's reaction to the stuffed animal. Taking in the serious young man a moment, she tried to read any emotion in his face. Of course since his expression was hard to read, she ended up getting nothing.
She frowned a bit.
"Do tell me young man with the devil sword Does this doll of worth, or should if be ignored? Jaron, the naieve young man and magical Acquisition, Found that in the tunnels, a rather dubious addition."

Just the bare facts, not the important stuff. You don't even know his real name. The void's not infallible. It can't get you everything you want. By the way, in case you haven't realized it yet, this isn't Sburb anymore. There is no more game to win, no more universe to create, no more Black King to slay. The only objective left for you, Alex, is to survive. And last I checked, breaking the rules can wind up getting you killed in all sorts of horrific ways. My suggestion? Get off that island as soon as you can. And for pity's sake, stay as far away from Zero. ...Being raised right in the ways of the world? Don't make me laugh. ceased pestering gantzGun [GG] at ??:??
Zero continued to gaze at the doll. Sure, it was rather torn and dirty, with felt sticking out of some seams...but it looked way too familiar. "I promise, until we bring Finitevus to justice, I'll help you in any way I can!" "Thanks, Professor."His grip on the doll tightened. "...worthless piece of junk!" He threw the doll aside, not noticing that the blades on his gear nicked it. "HEY!" Jaron ran after the doll, picking it up and glowering at Zero. "That wasn't very nice." "Riveting. You should win the award for being Captain Obvious," Zero said scathingly. "Why are you so angry?!" Jaron demanded. "We haven't done anything wrong to you!" Jaron had pretty much had it with this. Virtually every stranger he had met today seemed to be utterly nasty to him. He could only take so much before snapping. He calmed down a little and said, "Look, I'm sorry, I want to be nice, I really do. But I can't if you're going to keep acting so rude. Why don't we just be friendly for a while?" He held out a hand. Zero stared at it as if it was diseased. "...Last person to act 'friendly' towards me tried to punch me in the face." Well, THAT put a damper on the mood. "...uh..."

ceased pestering gantzGun [GG] at ??:?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Alex looked at those few posts once, twice, three times, four times, trying to make sense of it all... Perhaps he had already figured out that he was no longer in the game. Perhaps he had already figured out. Really when he mentioned that whole 'Breaking the rules' thing, he only brought that up because he knew that sometimes breaking a few rules was not only an option, it was necessary... And he had a VERY bad feeling that Zero WOULD likely find the key, and would one day return to this door... And if whatever was behind that door was REALLY that dangerous, then there was just too much risk. He turned off his computer and looked back to the door... He let out a sigh. If this world was what he found on the other end of the scratch... He needed to do his best to protect it. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Back outside, Shantotto laughed a bit at Zero's story... No, I'm not kidding. "Hohohohohoho! You don't say? Well, how greatly amusing. Knowing that I am not the only one that is in similar suffering." She notices Zero's murderous and probably confused look. "Now now do calm yourself, put your sword away and let me a moment to explain, Alas, true genius is never appreciated by those that matter; a true expert's bane." She shrugs a bit. "But whatever, the oppinions of many do not matter, So do tell, in what ways have you been affected by the chatter?"

"The 'chatter' is beginning to grate on my nerves, you rhyming little gnome," Zero snarled. He was just about HAD it with this woman. He HATED being mocked.
"Hey, all she did was ask you a question!" Jaron protested.
Zero facepalmed. "I don't--oh, forget it. What are you two even doing down here anyway?"
Jaron was somewhat taken aback by the change of subject. "Oh, um...the professor came down here to research the ruins, and...well, I fell down here, I guess."
"A pity you weren't buried under the rubble earlier."
CLONK. "What did I tell you before about talking?"

There was a loud slam as someone else exited from the same direction Zero came from. When everyone looked, they found Alex standing there pulling the hood down further over his face.
==>
Okay, you just did everything in your power to protect the room you just left. Even if Zero DID come back with the key, he would find entry to be utterly impossible. You fight the want to grin as you exit the room...
Especially since it appeared you weren't alone.
(Dropping Homestuck Style.)
Alex looked at the new people one by one, his face partially, but not completely hid by his God-tier hood. Zero's eyes was particularly leering. "Excuse me. I wish to pass through unhindered."
Shantotto looked at the man questionably, looking quite suspicious. The stink of the Void's Aura was STRONGLY apparent about him. No it wasn't a literal stink, but to magic users, their was so much void around him, it was impossible to tell if he was a person or a shard of the void itself.

Jaron was rather startled to see yet ANOTHER stranger show up. "Uh who are you?"
Something seemed familiar about this guy...and he couldn't help but have this weird feeling about him.
"Oh, great, you again," Zero groaned, facepalming. "Well, you want to pass through?" He gestured towards the door. "Be my guest, I'm not stopping you--"
"AGH!" Jaron dropped the doll. It had started to emit a rather foul stench all of a sudden. He felt a little sick from it. "W-what the...?"

Alex really just wanted to get out of that tunnel before Zero took notice of the.... Enhancements to the security he placed on the door. What he wanted right now was to avoid fighting until he knew what he was up against. Perhaps handling Zero would have been simple enough, but he didn't want to take that chance. Not yet. He kept his hood pulled down over his head, reasons unsure as he passed by Zero, and the others. He noticed Jaron keeping his eye on him the most as he did this...
At least before a foul scent caught his nostrils. And when Jaron smelled it... So did Alex.
"What the hell-?" He turned back to Jaron just in time to see him drop the doll as if it was on fire. By that point, the God-Tier kid looked notably surprised by the power he felt. It felt almost vaguely like...
A Denizen.
Shantotto was equally surprised by this sudden energy spike.
"What ho? What is this peculiar energy that I feel now? A greater question remains however is how it got her? How?"
She looked a tad miffed that this energy suddenly caught her attention. Why didn't she feel it sooner??

Jaron staggered back, covering his nose. "AUGH! What IS that?!"
The stench was unlike anything he had ever smelled before. He almost vomited.
Zero, meanwhile, immediately aimed his Gear at the doll.
Speaking of the doll...
It began to rise up into the air, black fumes emitting from its seams. It began to twitch erratically.
"What the hell?"
The doll suddenly burst into a ball of fiery orange energy, which slowly rose higher into the air. Jaron blinked, not understanding, but then he remembered.
"Uh oh."
Zero began to sweat. "No," he muttered, slightly panicky. "Oh no, not again--"
"Maioribus Bonus, palma macto, permissum is exsisto momentous trucido vestri nomen."
The sphere of energy burst, revealing D.E.V.A. Annabelle, a disturbing cross between a spider, a butterfly, and a series of knitting needles.
Jaron had fallen onto his backside when the sphere had burst, eyes wide in shock. "Wh-what?! How did--"
"MOVE!"
The yell was enough for Jaron to roll out of the way as a strand of webbing was fired where he had been sitting a second ago.
Zero hadn't just stood there. As soon as Annabelle appeared, he started running to the left firing Cross Cannons at the beast.
"I KILLED YOU ALREADY!" he yelled. "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU FREAKS?!"

Alex looked on in surprise at the creature that had come from the doll, not QUITE like a denizen, but it was DAMN WELL CLOSE. Shantotto in the meanwhile took in the beast herself... Her response?
"OHOHOHOHO! A most ferocious and horrifying beast! Should be quite the battle, no challenge in the least!"
She pulled out her rod, and proceeded to charge her magic.
"FLOOD!!!!"
BAAAM!!!!! A giant waterspout blasted out of the ground, sending Anabelle rocketing upwards until she slammed into the roof of the cavern. But Shantotto wasn't quite through yet. "BURST!!!" A powerful explosion of Electrical energy caused Anabelle to crash back down into the ground.
From that point, Alex watched the mage in a good amount of awe.

Zero stopped and drew Soul Edge, giving Shantotto a sidelong glance. Note to self, be careful around the imp.
Jaron scrambled to get up, taking out the blade shard. While he had admired how Shantotto had wielded her magic so skillfully, he realized that now was not really the time. "What the heck is that thing?!"
"Pure ass!"
BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!
Annabelle fell from the ceiling, having been blasted by one of Zero's Cross Cannons. He ran towards the beast wielding Soul Edge, yelling, "HAD ENOUGH?!"
Annabelle was faster than she looked--she had righted herself and flew up into the air to avoid Zero. Zero landed from his lunge, gritting his teeth. "Lousy, no good--WHAT THE--"
He backflipped to avoid the greasy eggs that Annabelle had thoughtfully dropped towards him. One of these eggs hatched, revealing a smaller Annabelle, which flew towards Jaron.
"WHOA!" He swung the shard wildly, slicing the infant Annabelle in half. Noticing that Alex was still there, he yelled, "Run! Get out of here! We'll keep it busy!"
