"Prepare for engagement!" The raspy voice of Lt. Vasquez said via the radia transmitters they had. For all Sgt. Paul Jackson knew, it might not have been so raspy face-to-face. Readying his M4A1 Carbine Assault Rifle and his M9 Pistol as they entered the borders of a nearby Arabian coastal town, their mission was simple. Capture the rebel leader, Al-Asad, and ensure regional stability. They were the USMC and they were ready to get the job done. So get ready Al-Asad, Sgt. Jackson thought, 'cause we're coming, and we're coming for you.
When we signed up for the army
To a rangers company
"We're gonna secure the perimeter and grab Al-Asad. Oorah?" "Oorah!" The voice of all the Marines echoes and Lt. Vasquz grinned before readying his gun. "Then... Lock and load!"
Armed with M16's
Straight into the war
"Go, go, go!" With his orders confirmed, Jackson grabbed the rope and slid down into the battle.
Then we served under the banner
Clad in US stars and stripes
"Breaching!" The door lock was blown open and the two Arabic soldiers inside were blinded temporarily before being put to rest permanently by the two Marines who had breached the building.
And on moonless nights
We marched for endless miles
"Sir, building is clear, but there is no sign of Al-Asad anywhere." "Recon, we've just gotten word that Al-Asad is broadcasting from a nearby radio station, we're sending co-ordinates right away."
Once we were soldiers
Once we were young
"Building is clear." "It was just a loop."
We have found our peace
We've seen the end
"Griggs, turn that crap off." "Right, I've got something better anyway."
Fallen in war
We belong to history
"Ambush!" Jackson fired out at enemy soldiers while Vasquez yelled orders into the radio. "Get some suppresion fire on that building now!"
Fallen in war
Sleep 6 feet below
"We're cutting through. Squad, on me." Jackson found himself taking cover from bullets, but Vasquez was beckoning him. "Jackson, this way. Move!"
Hearts of the brave
Cannot bring me back to life
Two marines fell, bullets in their heads, and the others were screaming in terror or anger as they fired upon their enemies while the squadron snuck their way inside.
Fallen in war
Still brothers in arms
"Jackson, shoot them with their own machine gun." "Roger that." Jackson manned the turrent and began streaming bullets into his enemies at a rapid pace, but a yell of being surrounded called him away.
We have fought in distant conflict
And for all to many years
"This is WarPig. We are under heavy fire. Where the hell are you guys?!" "Standby, we are almost there!"
Seen our friends go down
Wounded dead or lost
A Marine fell as Jackson and the squad appeared. Suppression fire was immediately called forth and Jackson found he was expected to disarm the ZPU-4 Gun in order to allow the Cobras to make their air strike.
Know that peace comes at a high price
It may take a thousand lives
"Protect WarPig until we reach the extraction point." "Yes sir!" Jackson stayed close to the tank, shooting all enemies that showed their ugly heads.
And a deep belief
Sacrifice of men
"Squad, this is Deadly. We're ready for pickup and we'll be heading off to the capital city where Al-Asad is," the Cobra said. Lt. Vasquez and the others jumped in.
Once we were soldiers
Once we were young
"Here we are... Let's get ready to kick some ass," Jackson said as he manned the MK-19 Grenade Launcher, aiming for all grounded enemies.
We have found our peace
We've seen the end
"Look at them fly," Lt. Vasquez said in awe as Jackson blew five men in a row to Hell with a well-aimed grenade.
Fallen in war
We belong to history
"Look for our men in the green smoke!" Jackson said as they ran through the city.
Fallen in war
Sleep 6 feet below
"Squad, be advised, there is a nuclear bomb present in the city, we have sent disarm teams in to disable it, but we are evacuating all friendlies ASAP." "Nuke?! SHIT!" Jackson yelled as he led the troops down and back to the plane.
Hearts of the brave
Cannot bring me back to life
"Mayday, mayday, this is Deadly, going down! I need some assistance!"
Fallen in war
Still brothers in arms
"Jackson, grab our pilot and go!" Jackson charged out into the fray and shot his way through enemy upon ememy, his M4A1 screaming and spitting out bullets into the hearts of other soldiers.
"Go, go, go!" Jackson told their pilot as all troops retreated into the plane. They took off and began to fly away. For a minute, Jackson thought they would survive, but then an explosion sounded. Jackson looked back with eyes of terror to see the mushroom cloud of a nucleur bomb that had detonated. All of the disable teams would've died instantly, evaporated from the blast. The sheer power of the nuke and the radiation it spread caused the plane to start shaking and go unoperational. As they spiraled to the ground, Jackson and Vasquez held onto something, but one marine was unlucky and he ended up falling out. Jackson screamed in anger, terror, and despair. The plane crashed into the ground and everything went black.
Shining heart beats no more
Buried deep deep in cold earth
"... Nnnnnnnnngh.... Uggggggggh..." Jackson's eyes woke up. He felt weak and he felt like he was getting weaker. He looked down at Lt. Vasquez to see how he was... and found a dead body. His vision began to turn red.
Shallow grave in my motherland
Here I stay lay in darkness forever
"V... Vas... quez..." He turned and crawled weakly out of the plane, the world turning redder. As he fell from the plane to the ground, he tried to let out a sharp yell of pain, but it ended up being a croak.
Fallen in war
We belong to history
"Paul... Eric... Nikolai... Is any... body alive?" Jackson asked, though he near the answer quite honestly. He looked to the side and saw the mushroom cloud. It was so far away, but... the radiation had spread so far.
Fallen in war
Sleep 6 feet below
Jackson began to walk towards the exit to town. A building collapsed from the talk down, eroding due to the weakening of the molecules and atoms that the radiation had caused.
Hearts of the brave
Cannot bring me back to life
Jackson's legs immediately began to shake. They felt like jelly under him. "No... I... have... to... live... Can... not... die..."
Fallen in war
Still brothers in arms
Even his will could not save him. A combination of the wounds from the crash and radiation poisoning caused Jackson to fall to the ground. "... Lu... ci... n... d... a... I... m... s... o... r... r... y... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .."
A white light filled Jackson's eyes. He saw the world falling below him, his own body laying there, looking now at ease and more at peace then ever before, as his soul rose on the pearly gates above. For this soldier, the war was over, and the SAS would soon avenge him and the other Marines that died there that day with Al-Asad's death. Far off with his own squadron, John "Soap" MacTavish wondered why he suddenly felt sad.
"Soap... you alright?" Captain Price asked.
"Wha... Oh, sorry... I just had this awful feeling that... something bad happened to the Americans... 'Tis all."
"Yeah. I feel the same way... It's probably just a gut feeling."
"Too right, Captain. You shouldn't underestimate the Americans. They're a lot stronger then we British gents give 'em credit for," Gaz replied.
"In either case, worrying about the Americans will not allow us to finish our mission... Do you hear something?" Captain Price asked as screams pierced the night.
"The Ultra-Nationalists... They're killing the villagers," the Russian Loyalist on their Squad COM replied.
"Not for long they're not," Gaz replied.
"Let's finish this... Once and for all," Soap said as they moved on towards their goal, the execution of Al-Asad.
