Van blinked at Beth, genuinely shocked by her proposal. He quickly recovered, though, letting out a sigh as he faced Cat and Rio. "Jack locked him with the Paramount Key. I don't know how he managed it, but perhaps possessing Evan granted him knowledge of its functions. The effects wear off in an hour, and unfortunately the key's magic is too powerful for me to override, and the only people who could reverse it right this minute are either possessed or possessing another. All we can do for him is wait."
He slipped the key in his pocket and turned his attention to Evan. "We should go after Jack... but I think it best if I determine the origin of Evan's strange behavior, for his and Patrick's sake."

"Really...?" Cat sighed, sincerely disappointed that there was nothing she could do for Rio. She frowned and nodded. "I'm gonna kill that parasite."
"Well, then, what're we waiting for?" Mickey asked as he flew over to Cat and effortlessly lifted Rio into his arms. "Everyone in the van!" He then flew back to the van, opened the camper door and carried Rio inside.

"Hey! Mickey! You want any of these swords?" Beth asked. She was starting to gather a few of them.

Van sighed as he enveloped Evan in bright green light and started to telekinetically carry him into the camper van. Every once in a while, Evan let out a little growl, like a dog having nightmares.
You can figure out what's wrong with him, right? Patrick worriedly asked.
"I can try," Van responded. "I can't make any guarantees, but hopefully a few divination spells will yield some answers."
Ray asserted himself, his voice finally crystal clear. And then we're gonna kill Jack, right?
"Who's to say we can kill Jack? Even if we can't, though... I think we can at least agree that he must be stopped," Van murmured as he stepped into the camper, gently laying Evan down on the couch.

"Do I?!" Mickey cheered enthusiastically before disappearing into the camper. He set Rio down next to Evan, then he floated up to the third floor to take his place behind the wheel. "Anyone who wants to join me up front, feel free!"
Cat joined the gang in the camper, opting to stay by Rio and stare out the window, keeping a watchful eye out for the infernal demon. There was no way in the Doom Pits she was going to let him slip past her again.

Beth chuckled before getting in the Van. "Half of these are yours Mickey!" the siren called as she propped a few of them against a wall.

Van leaned against the back of the couch, sadly looking down at Evan and Rio, then up at Cat, catching a glimpse of the outside world as the camper van took to the sky. Their pursuit of Jack had continued, and Patrick and Van had reason to believe it was far from over.
