The island in the void. The world no-one knew. For many, no-one even knew if the place existed. IT was a mystery wrapped up in an X-file. Something that supposedly couldn't exist. The Void would have prevented it from occurring, partially due to lack of air. Mainly due to lack of everything else...
And yet, as the portal opened and he dropped from the sky, he saw for himself that the island was very real. More then that, it was rapidly approaching at top speeds.
He had suffered numerous blows, many of them fatally disabling many of his prime functions. His Jet booster was completely disabled, his laser blaster long gone, his fiery barrier generator non functional and any kind of capability for causing fiery sonic explosions gone with it. His eyes barely even worked as he descended to the ground...
When he did, there was a loud clanking crash as he hit the pavement hard then bounced off it, skipping like a rock down the avenue. When at last he stopped, he couldn't even move, he couldn't twitch, why he could barely even think. The blue robot was in such a state of disrepair, and yet he was miles from anywhere he could find help. His scanners, seconds before they shut off, told him that the portal he had accidentally used to travel here had long since shut closed, closing off any chance he had of getting back to the good doctor.
He was stuck here...
Stuck until he ceased functioning.
.... Damn that Hedgehog...
Damn him....
And with that, Metal Sonic's head clanked down, his eyes shutting off....

Not entirely far from where the blue hedgehog had fallen, an odd mist seemed to blanket the city, not a horrific, mutatious mist, but a different, more common kind of icy mist. The creator of this mist was far out of view, staring down at everyone and everything from the top of a building.
It blinked, watching the robot crash and fall, the machine giving off odd effects she had never really seen before. But aside from the robot, she saw something else. A woman, possibly one of those humans she'd seen around the island?
Whatever the orange haired woman was, she was out cold on the pavement. Before the sprite could go check on the organic, she pivoted up on her knees, yawning.
"Maaaan, the bunks in the dorm are getting stiff!" she grumbled, popping a few bones as she stood up. "...huh. Must be having a dream about a city I've never been to before," she smiled, looking around.

That loud clanking crash did not go unnoticed. Hearing the noise brought back... somewhat unpleasant memories for Shulk.
"...W-What was that?" He said, mostly to himself. It had almost sounded like a Mechon landing, but... "...Well, no matter. I should probably check it out." There were no screams of terror or anything like that, so to the young man, it was worth checking out.
Shulk had been wandering around this bizarre place for quite some time now, though he hadn't seen any familiar faces. No other Homs he recognized, no High Entia, no Nopon... There were folks that were a lot like his people, but not quite the same. Even the flow of Ether around him seemed... foreign. Unusual.
Glancing back at his blade on his back, that old familiar shape... Shulk shook his head, walking towards where he'd heard that impact.

Outside the Plaza's coffee shop, a young, blue-skinned, demonic-looking man was lounging at a table, taking in the sights and sounds between sips of his latte. He properly jumped at the sound of metal crashing and scraping against the pavement, setting his coffee cup down and turning to see what the commotion was all about.
A little ways down the street from where he sat, there was what appeared to be a robot, a sight that fascinated and partially concerned him. It clearly looked like it had taken damage, even more so than that fall would've caused. Already, the young man's engineering instincts kicked in. He had to wonder if he could get a closer look at this being's mechanics, possibly even repair them. But on the other hand, who knew what this robot was programmed to do? One crossed wire and things could easily go haywire...
He pondered the best course of action, his tail twitching with intrigue.
Eventually, Paul stood up, slowly and cautiously approaching the robot. Only one way to find out what was going on.

When the two mechanics approached to take a better look, it became clear immediately that the robot's design was an odd one. It was blue and spiky around the head with a jet turbine making up it's center body, the arms were pretty badly damaged but still ended in pointy fingers, the lanky legs ended in shoe like constructs that had clear rockets built into the sole. Whoever designed this thing clearly had speed in mind.
However, it was in pretty rough condition. It looked like it had taken part in some kind of struggle previously, one it very clearly did not win. It was covered in dents, bumps, some parts of it were partially melted. No-one knew what to make of this thing, but it was clearly in pretty horrible condition...
As they approached, the machine started whirring to life.
---------------
N-NO! He couldn't give up now!! There had to be something else he could do! Someone else he could turn to!
As he lifted up his head to look around the robot took in the two scientists, now noticing their presence. Who were they-? Could they-? Well they weren't the doctor but... Maybe they could do something.
"F-Fiiiiiind Doctor Eggman. Iiiiii N-n-n-need repairs... I n-n-n-need help-..." It's fuel cells were depleted and that appeared to be the last thing he could possibly say as he fell back over in a heap in front of his curious onlookers. He needed to conserve energy. No matter what happened, he had to keep his brain active. If he lost his central chip then it was well and truly over for him. He was losing his body, but he would NOT lose everything he had learned up to this point.

Nora popped up near the two mechanics, giving an 'ooooooh.' "That's a neat looking robot!" she smiled, stepping close to it. The pink skirted red-head gave the blue robot a swift poke, hopping back as it whirred back into activation.
"An Eggman?" she asked, tilting her head. "I've had some pretty crazy dreams and seen some weird grimm, but I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a 'Eggman' before..." She crossed her arms, humming to herself.
Before her mysterious arrival on the island, Nora was off messing about around campus, mostly looking for any cookies she could find to stuff her face with. Right now, she thought she was in a dream, not even sure the city or people around her were even real, odd as it seemed. Though an odd look in her eye almost made it seem like she knew more than she let on...
"Sheesh! This is some crazy mist, huh?" she asked, looking up. "Is it always this foggy around here?"
Out of sight, the small fae continued to blow mist from her mouth, carefully watching everyone below her. Enemies? Prey? she thought, peering down at them.

Shulk yelped as Nora suddenly appeared, having not noticed her approaching as he was looking at the robot... or getting a vision of any sort. "W-Well..." The Homs took a moment to compose himself before continuing, a hand on his chin. "He said to find this 'Doctor Eggman' to get repairs, but..."
He thought for a moment. "I have parts. To be honest, I could probably repair him myself. It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult, though I'd need to examine him to make sure."

Paul took in everything that was conveyed to him, from the robot's instinctive need to locate its master, to Nora's nonsensical rambling, to Shulk's offer to repair the malfunctioning robot.
The latter in particular, Paul nodded to. If this robot had just arrived on the island, this Dr. Eggman he spoke of was probably far, far away. Someone had to help it before it went totally bust; he could only imagine what would happen to its memory if the rest of its circuits and mechanics were compromised.
"I can help... anyway I can. I-If you need me to at least. I don't have any spare parts on me, but I do know a thing or two about androids."

Metal, at this point, was shutting down as many inner operations as he could if it meant conserving energy and keeping his brain on enough to conserve data. It became clear that these people did not know where the good doctor was... But thankfully it SOUNDED like they could repair him themselves...
Time would only tell if they were actually any good at it. He didn't know who these people were.....

She saw the robot begin to power down, looking between to the men. Well, one man and whatever the blue skinned man was. "You guys need a little help moving this thing?" she asked, bouncing a little in place. The sprite on the roof-tops continued to watch them, keeping a close eye on the group.

Shulk shook his head. "No, I think... rff..." He, with some difficulty, managed to lift the robot up. "I think I have him. Gah!" Shulk stumbled, almost falling before steadying the robot again. "Ah... I have my tools with me but my bag with parts is a little ways away..."

Paul stayed by Shulk's side to ensure he stayed on his feet and didn't drop the robot. "Careful there... Alright, let's get 'im outta the street-"
He did a quick double take, thinking he saw something on a nearby roof. Oh well, first things first. This guy had the tools and means to fix this robot. He was in charge, as far as Paul was concerned.
