--gantzGun [GG] began pestering paramountKeymaster [PK] at ??:??--
GG: So... you're the new Evan that Beth mentioned... She said that you were taking on his old chumhandle. GG: You don't know me I'm sure, so I'll keep the introductions brief, until such time that we can meet together in person. GG: My name is Alex and I'm the Thief of Void of the game. If there's anything you need stolen, or a base you need sneaking into, I'm typically the guy you call. Though combat is among my fortes as well. GG: Moving on however, I'm here mostly because I want to get an early preview as to what I'm in for when we meet; gauge you a bit.

Evan's phone buzzed at him, alerting him to a message on his newly installed Pesterchum app. He promptly read the blue text, arching his eyebrows in mild shock and curiosity. Then he sat down on his bed and typed, figuring he might as well take the time to bring himself and his future teammate up to speed.
PK: Oh, yeah, hi! Nice to kinda sorta meet you. PK: Forsaken and I talked a little bit about you guys. I'm looking forward to the prospect of working together! PK: My friends and I are pretty much armed and ready to help her out. PK: Well, all you guys, but... you know what I mean. ._.;

GG: If I had to be honest, the idea of teaming up with a version of Evan that... Well, ISN'T the Evan I know is a bit unnerving. GG: Forsaken has told me a bit about what she hopes your role will be... But if I might be honest, I'm somewhat unconvinced. GG: Usually only players can god-tier, and even then you need a dreamself. The plan in itself sounds more hypothetical then anything else. GG: You will forgive me if I am somewhat unsure. GG: But I just came from a VERY horrible session that I lost and I would rather not get involved with something we can't win.

PK: Yeah, I guess I can understand that...' PK: Trust me, the last thing I want to do is force myself on you guys. PK: You've been through more pain than I could possibly fathom. I can respect that. PK: I'm only going along with this at Forsaken and my friend's insistence, and because I genuinely want to help. PK: I'm not expecting to gain anything from this for myself.

GG: I should hope not. GG: I can't understand much of what Beth's told me, but from the sounds of it, we're likely not going to get much out of this other then ruin. GG: But of course, what can we expect. IF this sessions been dead a while, we'll probably be lucky to find even that. Maybe even a civilization or something similar.

PK: Hard to tell. But still worth trying, I suppose. ^^; PK: Not that you guys have absolutely no reason to be skeptical... PK: And of course, given I'm a bit of an outsider in all this, I'm going in even more blind. o.o PK: But... I have hope. I can't let myself believe this is all happening for naught.

GG: I suppose.... I guess I'm just trying to be realistic. If you want to be 'Hopeful' then go right ahead. GG: ................ Heh... Just felt really nostalgic all of a sudden. GG: Hope. That was something he always used to say... I guess somethings are just too strong to be forgotten, even amongst other timelines and whatnot.
?
GG: Whatever. In any cases, I guess that does make me feel somewhat better about this whole thing. Knowing that the Evan I'm going into the potential fire with at least bares some resemblance to the guy I used to know.

PK: I guess a good balance of optimism and realistic expectations is vital for something this... risky. PK: Well good, though. Whatever makes cooperation easier. ^-^ PK: We're each gonna need all the help we can get...'
Evan paused briefly, pondering if he should bring up a certain detail that had been bothering him ever since Alex brought it up. Heck, ever since Forsaken and Kendall brought it up. He spared a quick peek at Swift as she examined her katana, then he turned his attention back to his phone, half-consciously continuing to type without really questioning how Alex might respond.
PK: In regards to the whole god tier thing, I'm not really certain how exactly that process works. Forsaken never fully explained it to me. PK: Again, not that I'm expecting to achieve it myself. PK: Spring-boarding off of this, though, she and my angel friend seem to believe that I've dreamt about this so-called kingdom of light that exists within the game.

....... ?
GG: I suppose.... GG: But like I said, we're just expecting ruins, and not to find much... though I guess given the game itself it wouldn't surprise me if the extra caution is needed.

He had been about to type a response when suddenly... A thought occured to him...
The rest of the message came through.

Evan had to wait for almost 5 minutes before a response came through.

GG: ... Describe this dream. If you can.

In the extended amount of time it took him to receive a reply, Evan decided to step out into the kitchen and grab a sandwich. From what he heard from his friends along the way, they too were expressing that balance of optimism and realism that he felt was necessary, which was comforting in terms of both expectation and familiarity. When Alex finally messaged him again, Evan sat down with his phone, read the simple six-word response a few times over, and took a moment to decide how to approach this. The dream was bizarre enough as it was, but now that he was aware of the deeper meaning it could've possibly held, it felt like trying to describe an out-of-body experience. Not that he would know what those were like. Anyway, story time... PK: Well... Everything was kind of hazy and where I was standing was covered mostly in shadows. Up ahead, I could very faintly make out the shapes of a city, glowing yellow and white. PK: A golden gate separated me from the city, and I thought I heard someone whispering to me. PK: I was about to unlock the gate with my special key, but... I don't know. I just couldn't bring myself to do it for some reason. PK: Then the voice told me to wake up. And... I woke up, I guess. ;

.... Wait a second.... There was something about this whole thing that sounded familiar... TOO familiar. Something surreal. Something nostalgic...
-------
GG: I presume you've told Forsaken about this dream... How did she react to it?

PK: She seemed to believe I was dreaming about... Prospit? Is that what it's called? PK: Sorry if that's wrong. Still learning. XP PK: Anyway, my angel friend seemed to agree with her. Said something about a dream self, and how only Sburb players dream about these worlds... PK: Forsaken also mentioned that it was weird how I seemed to be locked out of the city, but I still consider this all speculation at this point... PK: Can't say I know what any of it means just yet.

Another minute passed before....
GG: .... Did Forsaken happen to mention anything else when she heard this? About what this could potentially mean?
-----
Wait a second...
-----
GG: What EXACTLY has she told you about this job? Did she mention anything to you that might sound... Strange? Tell me and don't leave out a single detail.
-----
There was something about the typing, Evan likely noted... He couldn't be for sure, but the wording almost looked and sounded... Angry.

He did pick up on this... not that he could blame Alex. They were tempting fate enough as it was. Evan did his best to keep his fingers steady as he continued.
PK: Truth be told, she didn't really say anything else regarding the dream. Beyond that, though... PK: She explained how the alternate me died, and how the "hope player" didn't rise up. PK: We talked about the prospect of continuing a session, with some help from my friends... PK: Then she asked me how I felt about death. If I was willing to face it. PK: Which I guess, considering what happened to... this other me... is a possibility I have to accept.

Evan never got a response. Because, a few seconds later-
--gantzGun [GG] has disconnected.--

Elsewhere as he typed away furiously, Alex's teeth were gritting, the man in unbridled fury.
