Full Name: Kensuke
Nickname(s): Ken, Kitty, Old Man, Old Cat
Age: OLD
Height: 1' 6" in basic form (upright), 5' in beast form (all fours)
Weight: 15 lbs. in basic form, 1,100 lbs. in beast form
Gender: Male
Race: Nekomata (cat yokai)
Alliance: Neutral Good
Home: Bonsai Village
Franchise: OC
Physical Description
In his basic form, Kensuke largely resembles an ordinary cat with a feline head and proportions. He walks upright, though he is very short and stout. His fur is black and white with a tuxedo pattern, his eyes are bright green with slanted pupils, and he has whiskers, sharp teeth, retractable claws and two tails.
In his beast form, his size increases to that of a horse. He acquires a quadrupedal stance and two long tusks, but otherwise retains his coloring and twin tails. He's still noticeably very chubby in this form.
Weapons
He's not much of a fighter anymore, but if he absolutely must, he prefers to use his own innate powers. He does have a staff that he generally carries around which can be used as a blunt object.
Abilities/Powers
Most noticeable is that Kensuke can talk and think at a human level. He has the power to revive the dead, but with a catch; while he can bring plants and small, ordinary creatures back to life no problem, he cannot recover souls that have passed on, therefore dead creatures who possessed a soul will become his undead slaves should he revive them (which, for the record, he does not do anymore). He also possesses immense strength, speed, agility, reflexes, pyrokinesis, and the ability to shift at will between his tiny basic form and his enormous beast form.
Weaknesses
Kensuke is a bit lazy these days and quite clearly out of shape; he can't put up much of a fight anymore. It's also quite easy to take advantage of his greed. While he knows better than to hand over precious herbs to someone who clearly has ill intent, he's still quite susceptible to sell even their most powerful produce to anyone who pays well enough, which can easily land them in the wrong hands.
Skills
Despite his laziness, he's still a loyal farmhand and knows just as much about how to care for the garden as Sanuta. Even if he's not as great at it as he once was, he at least knows how to fight and isn't completely hopeless at it. He's also known to give good advice from time to time, given his many years of wisdom, experience and education.
Personality
Kensuke often takes on a very grandfatherly role. He's optimistic, wise and has a kind heart, but he's also very gruff and overly sarcastic. Depending on his mood, he has the capacity to be either kind and honest or unpleasant and blunt. He is a good friend, though, and he's certainly much better-behaved than he used to be. He's just a cranky old man who thinks only of his own gain half the time and a loving, loyal companion who only wants the best for his friends the other half.
History
Kensuke's story started out not too differently than most nekomata. He was born an ordinary housecat many centuries ago in Japan, but was raised in a very inhospitable household. The home's patriarch treated Kensuke cruelly, and as such, Kensuke grew very resentful of him and of humans in general. When he neared the end of his normal life, he refused to pass on, instead choosing to undergo the transformation into a yokai so he could take revenge on his owner for his mistreatment.
In the years that followed, Kensuke traveled across Japan with no real purpose. Sure, he'd get in fights with other yokai or attack any humans that posed a threat, but after centuries of aimless wandering, he grew tired of his lack of purpose. Plus, as the twentieth century neared and human society advanced, yokai numbers grew smaller and they had to take greater precautions to avoid contact, eventually becoming little more the stuff of myth amongst humans. Then, one day, Kensuke encountered the great Mistress of Twilight and many other friendly yokai who were attempting to open a portal to a new land where they could live in harmony, a prospect he gladly took part in. This led them to Dimensional Island, where they established new homes in the familiar environment of the east.
But even in the serenity of his new home, Kensuke still felt unfulfilled. This changed after he accidentally wound up in a particularly nasty fight with a rogue oni, which left him heavily injured. After wandering into a garden and passing out, he woke up under the care of the Kikagi family, who nursed him back to health. He stayed on their land while he recovered, begrudgingly at first, considering the animosity he still held towards humans; but after a while, he grew to like and appreciate the human family, and their belief in the God of Hope and the principles they taught based in his morals greatly restored his own hope. In gratitude for their kindness, Kensuke offered to stay indefinitely as a farmhand, and he has been living with the Kikagi family for generations ever since.
In his years of service, Kensuke retained a friendship with the Mistress of Twilight, eventually leading to her and Seitaku Kikagi falling in love and having two children, Sanuta and Senuta. The Mistress was killed shortly thereafter, and when the twins were teenagers, Seitaku was also murdered. Now the garden is under Sanuta's care and Senuta has left on her quest for justice. Kensuke still lives in Kisono Fields with Sanuta.
Other
Kensuke only ever leaves Kisono Fields to find food for himself, considering Sanuta only eats what he grows while Kensuke is naturally carnivorous, he swore to stay on the family's land, and he's just too lazy to leave for any other reason.

An example of Kensuke's coat pattern:
In his basic form, Kensuke largly resembles Korin from Dragon Ball, with an extra tail, of course.
And in beast form, he's similarly proportioned to Kirara from InuYasha.
