A Treatise on the Nature of the Soul
by Lady Valravn Hectate
Darkest season light cycle 32, 523 PGU:
I have finally created a spell that allows for the removal of one's soul from their body.
Gagana went to Earth and bartered the humans for me. In exchange for unpopular and/or imprisoned individuals, he will make their harvests most bountiful. The humans accepted this offer, most naturally. Bennu allowed me access to condemned prisoners on the condiion that "they'd better be dead when you'e done." And finally, a trip to the pit of hell lead to me purchasing a number of demons on the pretense of slaves.
Well, I can't wait to test, but sadly I am exhausted.
--
Darkest season light cycle 35, 523 PGU"
I stripped ten of each group of their soul's. Two of the human souls instantly died upon removal, while one faded away within a few minutes. Other seven continue to linger in stable condition. The twenty angel and demon souls are all intact.
Bodies of the surviving human souls appear to be in various states of deterioration already.
Theory: A human's soul is much weaker than an angel or demon's.
--
Darkest season light cycle 40, 523 PGU:
All but two of the surviving human souls have faded out. Bodies of vanished souls appear to be in a severe state of entropy consistent with 1000 years of decay. Human bodies do not decay that fast.
Out of curosity, I destroyed the bodies of half the demons and angels. Upon their destruction, I was greeted with a series of most unsettling screams. Not sure if it was genuine pain or if they're just fucking with me.
--
Darkest season light cycle 57, 523 PGU:
Only one human soul remains. Could not find the remains of the other soul's body beyond a few bones. Surviving soul's body appears to prematurely aging. I put the soul back in its body; all signs of premature aging vanished upon the restoration of the soul. Removing the soul again caused the aging to return to the body.
One demon soul vanished. Turul commented that it was a lesser demon. One of the demon's bodies appears to have vanished completely.
All angel souls remain intact, though five appear oddly distorted.
--
Darkest season light cycle 90, 523 PGU:
One human soul remains still. Body continues to show signs of premature aging. I decided to strip more humans of their soul until I got nine more; twenty vanished instantly upon removal or within minutes of removal.
The five demon souls whose bodies had been destroyed have vanished. One more demon soul has also vanished. One more body has also vanished. I stripped more demons of their souls until I had ten again; all seven of the initial souls survived the separation process.
Two angel souls have vanished. No signs of their bodies remain beyond a few feathers. I stripped two more angels of their souls; the two that I stripped remained intact upon removal.
--
Dim season light cycle 3, 524 PGU:
Nine of the human souls have vanished. The only surviving soul was one of the initial ten. Does this soul have an abnormally strong will? I stripped fifty more humans of their souls just to get nine more.
Nine demon souls remain; to replace the tenth, I had to strip two demons of their soul's; oddly, one vanished instantly like a human's.
All ten angel souls remain.
I decided to allow one angel and demon soul to return to their bodies. After expressing relief, they immediately tried to murder me with hammers. I sliced off the angel's wings with my scythe and removed the demon's core. Both bodies displayed the normal burn to ashes death consistent with normal angels and demons. The two missing souls were swiftly replaced.
Theory #2: A human's soul is on average much weaker than an angel or demon's, and in turn a demon's soul is weaker than a humans.
--
Dim season light cycle 24, 524 PGU:
The initial human soul still remains, even as the other nine vanished. I tried to extract nine more souls. Alas, I exhausted my supply of humans. I now only have seven in reserve, the other forty having died. Hansa said he would try to bargain with some humans suffering a flood in exchange for more living humans.
I express some admiration at the resilience of this human soul.
Upon entering the angel soul containment area, they immediately
[THE FOLLOWING FEW PARAGRAPHS ARE TOTALLY INDECIPHERABLE ASIDE FROM "tried to murder me with a hammer."]
I was lucky Turul happened to be nearby, otherwise that could have ended badly. The bodies are all gone, with nothing remaining beyond a few feathers. Oddly, all four colours are present, as are a variety of feather types.
I was more careful in choosing the next ten souls, opting to strip only the souls of the ten most meek angels. However, the incident does give me some ideas...
The demon souls remain intact, as do their bodies.
--
Dim season light cycle 52, 524 PGU:
[SEVERAL PARAGRAPHS ARE SCRIBBLED OUT]
She said to stop or I'll be sorry. I tried to make it up to her by [THE REST OF THESENTENCE IS SCRIBBLED OUT). It didn't work and she tried to kill me with a hammer.
Fortunately I was able to stop that and seal away some of her memories.
I need to be more careful in the future. Fortunately Hansa returned with 100 imprisoned or otherwise unpopular humans. I stripped half of them of their souls. Thirty instantly died upon separation, and nine dissolved within minutes. Other eleven in stable condition.
Angel and demon souls replenished without incident.
Lamenting the loss of the oddly resilient human soul. You will be missed.

[THE NEXT FEW LOGS ARE ALL SCRIBBLED OUT, ASIDE FROM A FEW INSTANCES OF "tried to murder me with a hammer."]
--
Bright season light cycle 60, 524 PGU:
I may have created a new magiobiological weapon.
[THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH IS MOSTLY SCRIBBLED OUT, ASIDE FROM "didn't try to murder me with a hammer" and "surpasses even a Kovaltio"]
I hereby dub these creations [NAME SCRIBBLED OUT]. Turul has been such an immense help in this project.
If we can mass-produce them, then we'll never suffer another casualty in war again.
--
Bright season light cycle 95, 524 PGU:
What have I done.
--
Dark season light cycle 2 524 PGU:
I have done great things. What have I made. I am creating something amazing. I need to be stopped.
THEY'RE LOOSE.
--
Dark season light cycle 18, 524 PGU:
Turul has created more of them and taken over my lab.
It's my fault for conducting these experiments to begin with.
[THE REST OF THE ENTRY IS EITHER SCRIBBLED OUT, WET WITH TEARS, OR BOTH)
--
Dark season light cycle 88, 524 PGU:
Turul has been caught. I apologized to [NAME SCRIBBLED OUT) and said she was right. I doubt she ever forgave me.
The assembly and council ruled Turul guilty of crimes against angelkind.
He is to be broken and banished the next light cycle. Such an indignant end for a former hero.
In the meantime we are conducting a missing angel's search for all the innocents that Turul was found guilty of chicknapping.
--
Darkest season light cycle 23, 524 PGU:
My old lab is under total lockdown. Nobody can get in. We debated recalling Turul and having him re-open it, but voted against it.
In the meantime we have elected Caladrius as our new king based on his age. He seems to be burdened with something.
--
Darkest season light cycle 30, 524 PGU:
I'm debating on whether to keep my old log for reference or to get rid of it.
--
Darkest season light cycle 32, 524 PGU:
I've decided to get rid of this via the Nexus portal.
Let this log be a warning to anyone who finds it.
If you're thinking of playing with souls,
DON'T FUCKING DO IT.
