(You come face to face with a large pile of documents, many of the pages unreadable due to them being written in Wingdings... Thankfully there are pages that seem translated into the English Language for note.)
Report #1
Today is my first day on the job as a royal scientist for King Dreemur. As of my writing this entry it has been a year since humans and monsters have entered into negotiations for trade. It has been made my royal duty to study the biology of humans and monsters alike. In this journal I will chronicle my studies and record only the truth. While I am used to writing in Wingding, a signature language that I have taken up studies of, I will also translate my notes into an English dialect so others who read this report will be able to understand what has been said and what has been done.

Report #2
Thanks in part to some eager humans who wished to assist me in my research, I now have some test subjects that will allow me the opportunity to see the finer differences between the humans and monster.
Initial reports intrigue me as I find that humans appear to be 70% water, as opposed to monsters that are mostly made of magic and energy. This makes humans much more physically coherent then monsters themselves, and the results are actually quite fascinating in that sense. There are a number of things I wonder in this sense, but even now I feel I should be careful.
The 70% percent difference is a BIG one after all…
----------------
Report #3
It would appear my fears were warranted.
When I brought in some volunteer monsters to allow me continued research on the difference between humans and monster, a monster with pre-programmed prejudices against humans spoke out against those working for me, and despite my best efforts, a fight broke out between the two. All present were shocked when a fist thrown by the human in self-defense outright shattered the monster’s skull. Thankfully I could call in a monster with healing magicks to mend the poor fellow up…
Still this is an interesting turn of events… It is from this… Debacle that I’ve come to a rather shocking conclusion. As humans are made up mostly of water, they are much more physically solid then monsters, whom are mainly made up of magical energy. Due to this, I should be careful with who I bring into my lab, I wouldn’t want a repeat of this disaster.

Report #4
I have come to an interesting conclusion today… While Humans are, indeed much more physically solid then monsters, it is not necessarily because of their mass…
During my studies, my machines picked up readings of a mysterious energy from my human volunteers, something neither magic nor life energy. With further research and study, I’ve found an odd energy that doesn’t match anything in my records or in the annals of monster history…
This is all so fascinating!! I may have just discovered something truly wondrous! I simply MUST continue research on this! For starters, how far back into the human lifetime does this wondrous mutation take place? I have decided to start broadening my viewpoints by employing some human children to my experiments. The other human adults were kind enough to point me to an Orphanage nearby that would serve my purposes well enough.
------------------
Report #5
The human children arrived to my lab today. Many of them seem a little nervous around me… I wonder why?
ADDENDUM: The children seem amused by my sense of humor; so hopefully that will help them warm up to me.

Report #6
It has taken many days and many failed attempts, but I think I’ve narrowed down what kind of energy we are dealing with. To reach my conclusion, I gave the human volunteers a number of tests commonly used with monsters to determine types of magical energy that they may have within themselves. All testing however proved negative. While I was initially downcast, the humans assured me that they would find some sort of answer soon. They had to soon right-?
At that moment however, the energy readings from my machines, still plugged into said human went through the roof. I was quick to record my findings, but I was still no closer to what had actually caused the spike… Then it hit me. I asked the human to describe how he felt when he addressed me. Amongst the words he listed off, the phrase ‘Determination to help with the experiments’ came up… It was an odd feeling hearing the word, seeing the readings, and inspiration coming to me… Could it truly be that simple?
I continued tests after that using situations that required similar stimuli, and is it turned out, my theory was spot on. The energy appeared in my readings whenever the humans felt determined to complete a task, regardless of how hopeless it seemed. I was so proud of the young ones for being so full of hope and support. I still remember when they shied away from me due to my appearance, now they approach me with such bravery, so happy that they at last were capable of helping me.
I decided to name this new power…. ‘Determination’.
----------------------
Report #7
Determination has some very interesting effects on the world all around us. It seems to allow the humans abilities unlike anything I’ve seen before. Along with the ability to almost physically refuse all nuances of giving up, it gives humans increased strength, speed and endurance in certain situations, much akin to adrenaline, but somewhat stronger. Something I’ve noticed however was that the children were much more capable of Determination then the adults. I have attributed to this being because children are much more naïve then adults, and, as such, much more likely to hope and have faith blindly. It makes them adorable, and yet almost more powerful than even the adults.
What I would really like to do is just… Figure out a way to extract this ‘Determination’. Only just a sample however, so that I may be able to study what this energy must look like, how it works in greater detail. I feel like… What I’ve seen so far is only just SCRATCHING THE SURFACE. Like there is so much more Determination is capable of doing. Heck, even now I can tell that I’m only just grasping at straws.
At times I feel like the experiments I’m pursuing for now are a little too ahead of my time. That, perhaps, I will have better luck at the Determination experiments once I upgrade my technology and learn a little more.

Report #8
I made my announcement to shelve the Determination experiments today. However, it was immediately taken OFF the shelf with a certain visitor at my door.
In the form of King Dreemurr…
And his son Asgore, sporting cut wounds. According to King Dreemurr, there had been an attempt at his life and his son had managed to shield him from it.
Young Asgore was dying. And unless I did something, he would not live to see his next birthday in 3 days time. I will need to work fast…

Report # 9
A long running mystery with monsters is the fact that whenever we breathe our last our bodies decay and turn to dust quite instantly. It has long since been theorized that our great magic is to blame as, once we die, monsters magical energy gives out a final death throe turning the body into dust…
However with my research I have reached an entirely different conclusion, something I’m not really sure King Dreemurr is going to enjoy. The fact of the matter is, monsters are made up entirely of magic, energy. So much so are they that there’s not a lot of space left for anything that could give our forms PHYSICAL MATTER. Physically, we monsters are quite frail.
It’s quite… Fascinating in this sense, that humans are made up of 70% water, making their bodies mostly physical to begin with… As I examine the dust of Dreemurr’s dying son, more and more mysteries spread out before me… I need more time to look into this… But I have so little time NOW. If only I had some solution… I can’t let this child die…
Wait… A child… Just like…
THAT’S IT!!

Report #12
MY EXPERIMENT WAS A SUCCESS~! Young Prince Asgore now walks among the living and is healing very well.
However, there were some odd readings when I injected him with the Determination… I will need to keep a close eye on this, so I won’t contact King Dreemurr… Not yet.

Report #13
….
OH MY GOD..
OH MY GOD NO.
NO. I NEED TO FIX THIS. AND FAST.
BUT WHAT- WAIT. MAYBE
-------------------------------------------
Report #14
Oh thank god… The experiment was a success…
Perhaps I should reiterate my discovery… But I must make absolutely certain that King Dreemurr never see’s this…
When it became clear to me that young Asgore was beyond the help of healing magic, I knew that we needed another solution and we needed one fast. However, I was out of ideas and incapable of coming up with anything… However just before I could give up hope, Asgore spoke up weakly, saying he would never give up on me. The notion was touching… But then it reminded me of my Determination experiments, how it healed light scuffs on the children’s knees whenever they got hurt, and how it always seemed to do so. I thought that, perhaps if I could somehow introduce Determination to Asgore then…
I quickly went to work, coming up with every idea I could to extract Determination from the kids that were all so eager to lend their aid in saving Prince Asgore’s life. Many attempts failed, until I decided to use an old archaic method made simpler through the use of technology. Thankfully the process worked, and with no damage to the child… Though… The child did inform me that the machine I used was a very scary one, thus making me note, as I cracked a joke to cheer him up, to not bring it out again unless necessary…
Still, I had what I needed. With that machine, I injected Prince Asgore with Determination.
At first, the experiment seemed a success.. The Determination healed him right up and he started walking around, saying hello and playing with the other children… However I noted that during the injection, my machine picked up an odd reading from the injection. Curious, I decided to not call King Dreemurr until I was sure it had worked.
I am oh so very glad that my judgement called this.
The next day, poor Asgore started to MELT RIGHT BEFORE THE CHILDREN’S EYES. Thankfully, he was only dribbling a bit so none of the kids actually caught on that something was wrong. The second I saw it however, I rushed him to the emergency room. The stress seemed to make the process even worse.
Watching young Asgore melt was a horrifying experience. The child had no idea what was happening to him. And frankly neither did I. What could have been causing this?
Then I remembered. Determination was still a very HUMAN energy. I didn’t want to BELIEVE that that was the cause but… on a hunch and a hurried frenzy, I turned on my machine to extract the Determination from Asgore.
….
Thank GOD the experiment was successful.
When the Determination was taken from him, Asgore’s fur turned soft and fuzzy once more, and any parts of him that melted off seem to be coming back… Even more thankfully, the cut wounds aren’t coming back. Young Asgore, 2 weeks after his final operation is the very picture of health…
….
I leave this record hidden in my reports for all of those who follow me. If you start experimenting with Determination, DO NOT.
UNDER ANY VIABLE CIRCUMSTANCE.
INJECT IT INTO MONSTERS FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME.
I have learned that while Determination is initially beneficial it WILL eventually wear down the monster’s very GENETIC CODE, liquefy it.
In otherwords, Determination in large doses is UTTERLY TOXIC to monsters. Even acidic.
Thankfully Asgore seems unaware of the danger he was in… In fact, he seemed confused as to why he was in my lab to begin with… Perhaps the melting erased his memory of the experience? I have no idea…
All I know is I am NEVER doing that again.
