Physical Description
When first approached, Red will not appear as much often, just appearing as a child dressed in a simple but somewhat intimidating red cloak with a hood, paired up with a black scarf like cowl and a red ribbon around her neck. The face is obscured by a plain white mask which itself is vaguely hidden by orange hair and the shade of the hood. When Red opens her robes however, she reveals underneath it the uniform of a royal guardsman, a bluish green robe embroidered with the seal of the royal family, poofy sleeves, white gloves that reach her elbows, white boots that reach her knees.
Red’s face however is her most intriguing characteristic as it has three different alts. The first two are apparent when she wears her armored white plaster mask which obscures her expression from all that attempt to view it. However, if you manage to agitate Red or spike her emotions enough in any direction, the ghost within the doll starts forgetting she’s wearing a mask and starts showing her facial expressions in said mask. The third alt, meanwhile, is Red’s true face, which is a pale peach color resembling a porcelain doll, with starry eyes and a mouth that appears knitted on, which she can talk through regardless.
Weapons
Red’s Royal Guard Saber, which resembles an early French designed sword commonly used by the royal musketeers of the era. She can however, also use grenades powerful gear like sentries that cut like metallic blades, and miniature throwing knives that can burst out and slice in certain directions that she can create much like Undyne can create her spears.
Abilities/Powers
WHAT RED CAN DO WITH HER SWORD HOWEVER IS AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY. Red’s ghost self had a very unique power which allowed her to manipulate a battlefield in ways no monster had ever considered manipulating before. While some monsters can ground flying enemies by turning their soul blue, or freeze enemies in place by turning souls green Red’s soul has a powerful ability that allows her to manipulate distances. In her current form, Red can slice her sword so hard that it creates a special distortion that can manipulate how far away or how close something suddenly appears. For instance she can slice a powerful distortion directly behind a target and use the powerful distortion to bring her opponent within a few inches of her, or she can slice this distortion a few feet away from her opponents left side, and when the slash finishes, it is the equivalent of warping the target away by several feet, sometimes into a wall, sometimes directly into the path of one of her grenades or sentries. Due to the sheer power this calls forward however, it’s easy to say that Red’s sword slices, if taken DIRECTLY can cause MASSIVE damage. On their own, these slices can slash through pure concrete, cut cleanly into industrial grade steel and, once, through a solid brick wall.
If Red wishes however, she can substitute this great power for great speed, allowing her to slash outwards with such speed that she creates slashing winds that cover a wide area.

As a royal guard trained up by Undyne and the others, Red is often shown to have very few weaknesses… However she CAN be somewhat emotionally unstable, once stating that she didn’t wish to fight Frisk for fear that they might try to befriend her instead. An oddity because, no-one knew Frisk would be friendly before he appeared (Which implies that Red has met and befriended a few of the human children that preceded Frisk). Due to this, she is very soft hearted and can be taken in by a friendly personality easily.
Skills
Catching a stick in her mouth (which is a talent taught to her by her friends in the Canine Unit), Fencing, was likely taught cooking by Undyne (And even participated in her lessons with Papyrus) which means she’s good at setting places on fire. Also, due to her powers, she could be considered an expert in mathematics, using them to help her judge the distances created by her ‘Distortion swipes’
Personality
Red is shown to be a dorky and adorable young monster with similar facets to Undyne herself (More then likely because she was looked after and trained by Undyne herself), such as stubbornness (refusing to listen to Frisk even when he tries to befriend her), anger (UNLIKE UNDYNE however, Red doesn’t go all out until it becomes very apparent that Frisk won’t fight back and EVEN THEN it’s out more out of COMPLETE FRUSTRATION as opposed to opportunistic duty) and a love of anime of manga (going into a brief stint about watching Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2; an anime she apparently enjoys and even, after Frisk apparently brings it up, calls Alphys a ‘Stuck-up nerd wearing Nostalgia Goggles’ for suggesting it’s terrible).
Unlike Undyne however, while Red can be loud and dramatic, she’s not sure of her own capabilities and is definitely much more clingy. It’s hinted by Undyne that if she had half a say, she wouldn’t have allowed Red into the Royal Guard because she was much too soft-hearted. Due to this, it is easy to upset Red and the strangest things can set her off (Though Undyne did concede that her fear of ‘befriending a human just to watch him die at Asgore’s hand’ later and face that loss is 100% legit). Rather then seeming illegitimate however, it has been shown that Red is easy to care for and, in an act that showed a great amount of caring, Undyne assigned Red out to a lost area of the Underground SPECIFICALLY so Red wouldn’t have to fight Frisk.
And really, that’s what lies at the core of Red’s personality; a deep seated fear of losing those she cares about…

Undyne, when asked about Red by Frisk after meeting her, had this to say about Red’s story. “You might think she’s too good to be a member of the guard… But for one reason or another, the Guard’s kinda the only family she has.”
Expanding on the story, Red is an orphaned ghost that has no real family herself that emulated and looked up to the Royal Guard, as many young monsters at that age would do during Asgore’s reign and anti-human regime. It started small as the young ghost, drawn to their inherent friendliness, met with the Canine Unit in Snowdin befriending all of them to such a point that the four canines grew accustomed to the ghost’s presence. During these meetings, she met the like-minded Papyrus whom also idolized the Royal Guard, and from him, she obtained a similar dream of joining the guard herself.
Unlike Papyrus however, when Red first met Undyne, the ghost met her with Undyne’s knowledge that this same ghost had been a constant presence with the Canine Unit in Snowdin. While Red was initially refused, the ghost stubbornly refused to give up, once even going so far as to follow Undyne to the Garbage dump where she found a physical body that she could use to fight physically (Done after Undyne unintentionally drew attention to Red’s lack of physical body), and where Undyne first met Alphys the Royal Scientist.
Alphys, interested in Red’s possession of the doll, decided to conduct a series of studies on the odd mixture before her, and, from Red’s possession, was given the idea of creating a robotic body for another such ghost whom had volunteered for studies themself. When Asgore learned of both Red and the soon enough built Mettaton, his growing interest prompted him to build various stations to where Mettaton could entertain the masses. Along with that, after making sure her new body was thoroughly cleaned and retooled, via Red’s specifications (Similarly to Mettaton’s body), she was given a royal guard uniform…
It was only until later, during one of her patrols in around the Underground that Red came across a massive red fabric that the ghost, a ghost red in color, became reminded of her original coloring and decided to incorporate it into her uniform. She once more turned to Alphys and asked her to create something functional out of the red fabric, only to be redirected to Asgore and his own servants. And after weeks of working, Red was given her signature red robe, cowl and ribbon.
The Red everyone knew soon came to be… Rarely seen as she was…

Then on that fateful day Red, a proud fighter, met Frisk, the subject of much fear, and it felt like it all hinged on her to capture a child she feared ever confronting… Instead, Frisk, as they did with much everyone else, befriended and spared Red in spite of her stubborn actions. The two became good friends, swapping stories, laughing at bad jokes… And when Frisk had trouble getting back to the MTT Resort from the Dandelion plains, Red carried them back herself, smiling and enjoying herself all the while…
5 months after Asgore’s defeat and the end of the human-monster war in the Underground, Red now lives with the other retired members of the royal guard, particularly the Canine Unit themselves (Though she does visit Undyne now and then and DEFINITELY makes sure to go on playdates with Frisk as frequently as possible… However, one day Frisk was simply missing. In fact, not just Frisk, but Undyne, Alphys, Asgore, The Skeleton Bros… So many had gone missing due to a mysterious hole in the Skeleton Brothers backyard…
