Meta Date Feb 26, 2016. Day one. Early autumn.
ENCOUNTER SUMMARY -
I'm actually not entirely sure life is real right now.
Kira dropped me square in what I later learned was the Misceo Ocean. It doesn't border all sides of the island, I can SENSE that much, and it's a bit freaky. On a sort of boardwalk place near it, I encountered a fire elemental titled Flame Princess, guarded by what seems to be a water mage with a lot of internal conflict. Her name is Aqua, she misses home, and she looks after Flame Princess. I aided them a bit and offered to help her get back to her realm, but she refused, on the grounds that she needs to stay with FP. I can respect that. From there, I went to the city to see what I could find.
My first offer was posed in a museum, where I encountered a sprite - like from SBurb! - of Lilianna, a sorceress from the card game Magic. Talk about enchanting. In all seriousness, she was missing her player - a Witch ofDoomBLOOD named Beth. I agreed to find her, and we talked for a while. She has my respect, for now, as well as my sympathy. I know how it feels. Makes me wonder how my session went.
So all that was before my office appeared. By the time I actually got the call, someone else had found it first - a lupine monster named The Mighty Roman. Had to chrono myself in. All things considered, the contracting could have gone much worse, but...
Roman is my first child client, and I have mixed feelings about it. He fancies himself a warrior, even though he's honestly a pushover. It hurts to see him so full of himself and so hellbent on his facade of power and confidence. It's obvious he has so much to learn. Everyone can see it. Is that why he's so hellbent on seeming otherwise, despite its futility? Troubling thoughts. I'm troubled, at least. One way or another, nothing I could say to get through to him, so I agreed to his request. It was an informal contract: I lead him to Frisk, who he wanted to locate and duel (poor kid, right?) provided we have a follow up meeting.
I led him to Frisk, all right - but I asked them to not hold back. Roman needs to learn from this, and playing along will teach him nothing. If he wants to play at adulthood, he needs to be treated like an adult. He needs to grow.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm too nice... or too cruel. Frisk was too gentle. They hardly got through to Roman at all, they didn't make a dent in their ego, they PLAYED with him. And by then I was exhausted from jumping around the island. Thank God Frisk caught on. The good news is, I'll be able to mentor Roman - provided Roman himself agrees to it. Leta, I could definitely use your help right now...
We'll see how things are in the morning.
