Full Name: Garnet

Age: Immortal Gem - 5,750 Years
Height: 6'5"
Weight: Athletic build, exact weight unknown
Gender: Nonbinary - Female Presenting (she/her)
Race: Gem
Alliance: Crystal Gems

Franchise: Steven Universe
Physical Description
Garnet is extremely tall and curvaceous, appearing racially black. She has thin arms with slender wrists, thick legs, and a narrow waist. She bears an impressive cube-shaped afro, full lips, and a round nose. Though she is almost always wearing an iridescent visor with geometric edges, beneath it she has three round eyes. The lower two are red and blue, and the one on her forehead is violet.
Garnet’s usual clothing is a bodysuit with padded shoulders and elbow-length wrist guards that attach to her middle fingers. The bodysuit’s legs are navy and maroon, and the chest bears a star emblem of the same bright pink hues as the heels and toes of the body suit and the normal hues of the visor. The gloves and shoulder pads are also maroon.
Weapons and Accessories
Like all Gems, she can summon weapons - hers a pair of thick gauntlets. The gauntlets cover her hands and forearms and seem to be made of solid garnet, each bearing a yellow star on their backs. She can increase their size (Garnet’s Universe) as well as launch them (Watermelon Steven).
Abilities/Powers
Garnet is the fusion of the gems Ruby and Sapphire. The immense love the two share is channeled through her and gives her improbable strength, higher than even her teammates in the Crystal Gems. She has immense speed and athleticism and is incredibly strong and graceful. She’s even resistant to extreme temperatures and conditions (Giant Woman), and can endure immense pain.
Garnet has numerous abilities unique to her. For one thing, she has future vision, which allows her to see choices and probabilities for future events. There is no definite outcome for anything, but she is adept at navigating the slew of chances (Future Vision). This ability comes from Sapphire (The Answer).
Garnet also has electrokinesis, which she can use both in combat and in mundane situations to summon and manipulate electricity. This ability is wholly unique to her as a Gem, stemming from Sapphire’s frost abilities and Ruby’s fire abilities (Keystone Motel/The Answer).
All Gems have the ability to retreat into their Gem when their body, which is simply a projection, is badly wounded. While Garnet has to refuse when ‘popped’ (the slang term for the destruction of the body), she nonetheless is capable of doing this (Jailbreak). Gems can also manifest changes in clothing (Beach Party/Chille Tid).
Weaknesses
Garnet often acts too fast to think, tends to rely on her intuition and emotions to make choices, and is prone to bouts of impulsiveness. She has a one-track mind despite her best attempts, and will do whatever it takes to protect her loved ones, going as far as complete self sacrifice. In times of moral strife, Ruby and Sapphire tend to split in her mind and argue, which forces a silent, even cold persona on Garnet.
Skills
Garnet is a strong, generally level-headed leader. She has a firm grasp on and can articulately explain abstract concepts like love and respect. She can perform most tasks with apparent ease, and is well versed in the capabilities of Gems as well as the limits of humans.
Personality
While she doesn’t handle EVERYTHING with methodical grace (see Fusion Cuisine) and has responses that humans may find strange (see Chille Tid), Garnet is an undeniably strong, tender, and virtuous being. Her signature stoicism is countered by immense, undammed love of the Crystal Gems and everything they mean to her, and she openly treasures Planet Earth - the only place in the universe where she’s free to be the fusion she is. Garnet’s compassion and devotion are generally assets, as well.
History
Garnet’s first fusion was an accident. Three Rubies (insignificant soldiers) were sent with the rare, aristocratic Sapphire to visit one of the gem matriarchs, Blue Diamond. Sapphire determined that the renegades that were fighting to keep Gems off Earth would attack and pop several gems, but would be apprehended and broken. However, when one of the rubies shortly saw Sapphire attacked, she intervened, and the two of them formed an almost prototypical version of Garnet, who was stunned and confused.
Upon their unfusing, the reaction from onlookers was horrified and disgusted at the display. Fusion was, in their society, meant to occur only between gems of the same kind and for the express purpose of combat. The two were scorned and insulted, and ended up falling from the sky plaza to the forested earth below. After some time of mutual contemplation and the development of romantic feelings, they managed to fuse again, and were found by the renegades, who assured the newly reformed Garnet that she should never doubt who she is and what she stands for. Thus did Garnet become a Crystal Gem, fighting to protect the Earth.
I’m loathe to spoil more of the plot of Steven Universe than that, but I can share how she got here. After thousands of years with the Crystal Gems, Garnet became accustomed to the countless missions the group went on to protect Earth. She performed many independently, and was sort of expected to, as well. Sooner or later, it was bound for some version of Garnet to get swept onto Nexus Island.
Unlike that first big change, entering the portal was no accident. Steven and Connie are adults now, capable of taking care of themselves and of leading the Gems in her absence. She saw what would be behind that portal, and how much she’d see and do and learn, and she decided that entrance was worth the risk. She came to Nexus Island of her own volition, and she’s quite certain it’s only a matter of time until her family follows.
Other
Garnet may have left her family behind, but she adores them with every fiber of her being - especially Steven. She'll grow to rapidly miss him, and it may reflect in her actions.

I'll add fanart eventually.
