Toby pondered Chrys's suggestion. "You know... that... actually sounds like a good idea! Can't hurt to give it a shot."
He meekly smiled and nodded to Ed before the latter disappeared into the kitchen. Then he turned back to Chrys and continued, "Definitely worth trying. Also, should things get especially heated, it'll help to have light-based fighters on our side. Patrick's gonna be mostly busy helping Evan with the game he's involved in and Andromeda's light powers are... admittedly not the greatest."

"I think I might have some wards from Elder Star. They ward against anything with ill intentions," Chrys offered kindly.

As the two talked, quite a few other customers started coming in, making orders and taking seats. It seemed Ed was going to be busy for a while...

"Seems appropriate," Toby replied with a nod before taking a few more bites of his lunch. "As long as we can leave a big enough bang to keep them at bay, I'll try just about anything."

Chrys nodded as she ate a bit of her food. "I can try to replicate the tags... though mine won't be strong like hers," she offered.

As the pair talked, Ruth walked over to them, sighing. "I'm sorry that Ed's so busy right now. He told me he was looking for a guy for the last couple of days- I take it you're him?"

Toby took a quick drink before answering Ruth. "I... presume. I met him a week or so ago and at the time he... seemed pretty intent on helping me."

"He did say something about a monster invasion coming, but I wasn't sure how much of that was Ed being Ed, and how much was a legitimate description of what was going on." Ruth sighed, looking around. "If you need Ed for anything, it's fine if you call him over. The other guys working are starting to come in, and he's only supposed to be delivering food anyway."

The place slowly started filling with more customers, Ed eventually getting permission to come out and speak with them. "Toby! Other friend!" he cheered. Quite a few fellows smiled as Ed arrived, the big fella taking a seat with them. "So, whatcha guys talkin' about?"

Toby was just washing down the rest of his meal with his tea when Ed arrived. "Ah. Hey." He offered a little smile, which quickly faded when he started to explain the situation. "Well... you remember those shadow demons I told you about? The ones that steal souls to turn into more of their kind and consume other worlds in darkness? Um... Well... they're... trying to absorb the island..."

"Me and Chompy could help!" he smiled. "I don't mean to brag, but I'm an expert at fighting stuff." While his words were... clearly exaggeration, anyone familiar with Ed's cartoon show would know he's fairly strong in his own right.
