Full Name: Aquamarine
Nickname(s): Aqua, Traitor, the Blue Maniac, Former Crystal Gem, Former Invasion supplier
Age: ageless gem – Somewhere around 7,000 Years old
Height: 6 foot
Weight: Exact weight is unknown though Aquamarine is very acrobatic.
Gender: Non-binary – Female Presenting (She, her)
Race: Gem
Alliance: Formerly Crystal Gems, now however, when asked, she will just answer ‘Earth’.
Home: Has traveled the whole Earth hundreds of times in the thousands of years she’s lived on it’s surface. She has no real home.
Franchise: Steven Universe Fan-character (Or a Gemsona)
Physical Description
Tall and stocky, Aquamarine would somewhat resemble other Quartz gems, however given her actual height and many of her other characteristics, she falls short of the mark a great deal, being shorter than most gems, though not by much. However, she still has a fairly brawny physique and shapely appearance, with light blue skin, and slightly darker light blue hair. More often then not, Aquamarine is wearing the remains of her old dark blue Diamond Bodysuit with short sleeves, holes in the side to show the light blue skin around the waist with armbands around the wrists. New features to Aqua after leaving her previous job however is a pair of baggy pants blue pants, her new thigh-high boots that reach up to her pants. As a gem, her source of being, an Aquamarine gemstone with a fairly smooth cut, can be located on her right shoulder.
All of this is topped by the yellow star on the chest of her shirt, a sign of continued loyalty to her former team-mates….
Weapons and Accessories
As is typical with all gems, Aquamarine can summon a burst of energy from her gem, creating a physical manifestation of her own abilities of self-defense, creating a weapon specifically crafted for her gem type. For Aquamarine’s, this weapon type is that of a pole-arm type weapon, a long 5 foot staff ended with a broad blade ending it. While the blade used to resemble a spear with a gemstone resembling blade on the end. Passing years however allowed her to learn about various cultures on earth. The Japanese culture for instance, allowed her the chance to personalize her pole-arm weapon into a shape more similar to a slim easy to maneuver Naginata, with a curved blade at the end.
- As she is not a gem that can use her own gem for storage, like Pearl’s can, Aquamarine usually travels light. However, she has adapted an over the shoulder bag that contains all MANNER of human currency to pay for human transportation when it’s absolutely necessary.
Abilities/Powers
Gems are highly advanced and highly evolved beings that allow for a number of great strengths over organic life-forms, from technology to very few physical limitations. This is also very true Aquamarine herself, whom has enhanced strength, endurance and agility… HOWEVER UNLIKE MOST GEMS, this has more to do with the type of physical projection that is commonplace for the Aquamarine gem type. When Aquamarines first regenerate, their bodies appear as little more silhouettes made of pure water vapor, with their gems located on the portions of the body it is planned to appear on when it solidifies.
An Aquamarine’s true power is the power of masterful control over one’s own physical mass. One moment she can be a floating vaporous mass with the gem floating around it’s intended sticking point, in another, Aqua’s body can be solidified to appear as other gems, sometimes with her body even more solid then most physical forms, allowing her to take intense damage head on and shake it off as if it was nothing, or to simply phase around the attacks in her vapor form like a ghost. Along with that, Aquamarine can also solidify portions of her body for powerful physical attacks, allowing her already supernaturally powerful punches to punch even harder then before. This control over mass also means she can decrease her own weight and take advantage of such to hop through the air to great heights or even to jog at great speeds.
It is with this in mind that it is NEVER a smart idea to cross Aquamarine’s. They know how to keep their cool and how to use these powers to great affect….
Weaknesses
THAT IS NOT TO SAY HOWEVER THAT THEY DON’T HAVE WEAKNESSES.
Aquamarine’s are very sturdy gems, deceptively powerful in spite of their lowly post as gem tech couriers. However, this comes at a great price. As Aquamarines are gems of courage and resilience, it makes sense that Aquamarines can only be this powerful WHILE THEIR AT THEIR EMOTIONAL BEST. In fact, this is even taken to an extreme. Aquamarines can be equated to bubbles of water vaper that can only fight… CAN ONLY HOLD THEIR FORM SO LONG AS THEY REMAIN CALM AND COLLECTED. That is not to say that this aspect can be worked out in time and each Aquamarine has their own maximum thresh-hold for surprise, mental imbalance or pain, but if that thresh-hold is ever crossed, that ALONE is usually enough to cause Aquamarines to poof back into their gems. It is also due to this that they usually need to be escorted from the battlefield so they can reform in peace and quiet.
Even more apparent however, it’s important to note that Aquamarines forms are, in fact, water vapor, making them highly susceptible to Hydrokinesis… Or even lightning based attacks.
Skills
Battle skills are a plenty, social skills are lacking. Aquamarine has however learned a few languages over the years allowing her to articulate and communicate with humans if the need ever actually arises. However even then, humans tend to find her odd or imbalanced and can often find her suspicious. Along with this, Aqua is also a skilled pilot, easily mastering earth flying vehicles using her knowledge of her old ship, which has been left abandoned somewhere near a place humans now refer to as Ayer's Rock….
Personality
It’s often thought, by those that actually REMEMBER Earth and the rebellion, that the Crystal Gems only truly care about the planet Earth, have turned their backs on Homeworld or seemingly protect it for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Or, at least… For reasons they don’t wish to understand….
Aquamarine’s very existence is a spit to the face in these misconceptions in a number of ways.
Where the remaining crystal gems have been taught love for numerous years by Rose Quartz, and have become more and more open over the years to humans (even if still awkwardly so), Aquamarine is a very open being who does not hold love to quite the same standard as the Crystal Gems did. Originally a cold and calculating mathematician and salesman, Aquamarine’s numerous years in space and the isolation there-in finally caused her to stress out to the point beyond no return. She has learned to calm down over the years thanks to the extended ‘vacation’ she has spent on Earth.
In casual conversation, Aqua tends to talk strangely, breaking off into tangents in efforts to make her point. While she is odd though, some at least have to admit that she usually has her heart in the right place…
She just has her own unique way of showing it.
History
And it was EXACTLY that kind of behavior that Rose enjoyed about Aquamarine when she and the other members of the Rebellion located her in the ruins of her ship. While all of the other gems were turned off by the slightly feral and eccentric merchant, Rose Quartz could only giggle and accept the gem with open arms. A notion that confused Aquamarine since deliberately going apeshit was something Homeworld was against so they could keep focused on their work.
The more years Aquamarine spent with the Crystal Gems, the more she actually… STARTED TO BUY IN to what Rose was preaching, showing SPECIAL interest in how she treated other gems, such as those of notably lower classes, like Ruby’s or even Pearls (in fact, one of her toughest head soldiers and most trusted confidante was a Pearl herself). While she couldn’t exactly approve of it at first, a part of her was… enamoured with the fact that Rose showed such love and caring to lower class gems, treating them with genuine respect. It was this thoughtframe that allowed Aquamarine to eventually decide to start helping Rose wholesale… Though in her own unique way.
One of her plans was one that none of the other gems agreed with, but one that assisted none the less. By using her ship to send out distress signals to other passing supplier ships, Aquamarine was able to supply Rose’s army with numerous weapons and armor up until she was finally discovered and branded a traitor, the diamonds, particularly a VERY UNHAPPY Blue Diamond, told other Aquamarines to stay away from the planet itself. Still, the plan had worked and even more soldiers and supplies were now in Rose Quartz’s clutches, ready for any sort of big brawl to come in the future. Any sort of brawl that Aquamarine was ready for and ready to throw in her sword towards….
…. THAT WAS UNTIL SHE LEARNED THAT BLUE DIAMOND HERSELF WAS ABOUT TO GET DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE WAR. Aquamarine had done many senseless things in her quest to help Rose Quartz. Many senseless things that ultimately made sense in the long run. But while she was maniacal, she viewed herself as, BY NO MEANS, Stupid. In spite of her warnings to Rose Quartz and any other gems that would listen, the battle went on as planned…. However, Aquamarine was nowhere to be found during it.
….. At first, her deserting her friends and the years that followed was spent guiltless and heedless of the battle going on elsewhere… But when she returned, she returned to see a battlefield full of shattered pieces of gemstone… Literally nothing remained, it seemed, of Blue Diamond’s army, or the Crystal Gems… So as thus…
She spent her years believing herself to be the last gem on Earth until she was reunited with her old friend in the Rebellion, Bloodstone. The two would then proceed to have numerous adventures together.
Other
With Bloodstone around, Aquamarine was never bored. There was ALWAYS something to do on Planet Earth, witnessing wars, sometimes taking part in them, enjoying nature and the ever evolving animal life... One day however, in the present day, Aquamarine and Bloodstone were attacked by gem monsters which proceeded to bring down the building they were looking about. Aquamarine was seperated from Bloodstone, having bubbled the monster's gem herself, and being incapable of coming across Blood's gem in the rubble... Assuming with terror that Bloodstone was lost forever, she left the sight of the battle... Many years later she would stumble across a mysterious rift somewhere in Asia during her 50th visit to the mountainous regions there-in. Curious, and probably not careful enough, she decided to walk in and investigate.

"My Gemstone. Or rather the exact shape and cut of it~. Pretty eh? You humans can treasure gold or diamonds all you want but blue's where it's at~."
