A buzz from his phone cut Evan off, prompting him to hastily apologize and answer it. Given the situation, he had anticipated worried reactions from his friends, and right off the bat, this was clearly one of them.

AG: OH MY GOD EVAN WHAT THE WAT IS HAPPENIN 2 ME??!??!?!?!?
PK: Jeez, Patrick, calm down!
PK: Tell me what's going on!
AG: WIERD MONSTERS R SHOWIN UP EVRYWHERE AND LITES R GOIN FUNNY AND THE COUCH JUST MELTED AND IM FREEKIN OUT!!!!!!!!!!
PK: Just relax, okay? >.<
PK: Do you think YOU'RE causing these weird things to happen?
AG: I DUNNO I CANT CONTROL MY MAGIC ANYMORE!!!!!!!!
AG: IT LOOKS LIKE ARCANE MAGIC IS WHATS GOIN ON BUT I CAN'T CONTROL IT AND ITS GETTIN WORSE AND

Evan stared blankly at his phone, once again struggling to process what had just happened. He had already come to the logical conclusion during the conversation, but that didn't make it any less startling. "Uh, Rio? I think my friend has your powers."
"Ohh dear..."

"Ha! Well don't that beat all!" Cat laughed, paw to her forehead.
"Poor guy... He's gotta be losing his mind..." Swift murmured before looking up at Mickey. "Guess we're heading towards the city."
"Thus begins the road trip, huh? I'm down for that," Mickey replied with a shrug before looking up at the ceiling and jumping, momentarily stymied when he simply dropped back down. "Oh. Right. God dang it..." He then flattened his ears and dejectedly walked upstairs like a normal person.

Forsaken chuckles. "Welcome to the club Mickey," Forsaken called to the raccoon anthro. The woman relaxed slightly as she reached back to pat the new being's head.
The being froze before seeming to relax as well.

"Well, if there's a silver lining to this, it's that your powers went to an experienced arcane mage," Evan offered.
"I suppose that's comforting..." Rio responded with a nod. "And at least he'll understand the purpose of the necklace, I presume."
"Indeed. And as long as we're heading towards the complex, we can certainly drop you off wherever you need, Forsaken."

"Mm-hmm." Swift nodded in agreement, then went silent and sunk deeper into Evan's arms. She was bracing herself, taking an effort to remain optimistic. She meant it when she said that the days to come could be an adventure. She just wished she didn't have to feel so powerless.
At least Evan seemed to be in control of the situation. That was comforting in its own right.
"Whoo! Alright!" Cat leaped out of her seat and dashed after Mickey. "Power swap scavenger hunt road trip extravaganza is ON, BABY!!!"

The being stood up and stood behind Forsaken as if to say 'I am with her' in a very protective manner.

"Sounds good..." Evan replied calmly and firmly, wrapping an arm around Swift. Of course he was hoping for the best, but now more than ever, he was feeling very protective of her. Maybe it was her depowered state. Maybe it was his new powers over bonds. Hard to tell.
Either way... this was going to be a weird trip.
