Call it fear, call it obligation... but Toby needed to go for a walk, and this decision inevitably led him to the cemetery.
It was almost an involuntary response at this point. Even if he was simply walking to the store, it was highly likely he would somehow take a detour through here. He just couldn't help it. He felt the power of Ten'dom's darkness here, and try as he might to ignore it, he constantly felt drawn to it. So as long as he was here, he figured he might as well check up on those traps and barriers he and Chrys had set up. Anything to keep those shadow demons at bay.
Toby sighed. He really wanted to believe that was the only reason he was there. The Præt'nos were a big enough problem on their own. Sharing their darkness was a whole other burden.
He froze and looked over his shoulder when he heard the faintest noise. Maybe coming here alone was a bad idea...

Chrys blinked as she looked up from a trap she had been repairing after it had been set off.
It wasn't odd to see her covered in dirt, grease, and sweat. She had gotten up at dawn to work on repairing and resetting formerly triggered ones.
"Morning, Toby," she offered as she stood up. An empty bottle of Mountian Dew sat by her feet as she dusted herself off.

"Oh!" Toby smiled back at her, surprised only for a moment but quickly relieved to have found a familiar face. "Hey, Chrys. I was just, uh... checking up on the traps and whatnot. You?"

"Resetting some of the traps and repairing some of the wards," she offered as she picked the empty bottle.
"Drawn here again?" She offered before going to stand with him. She knew that something was still off but she couldn't tell what.

"Ah. Good." Toby nodded, happy to know that Chrys was on top of things and grateful for the help.
His smile slowly fell and his eyes slowly drifted to the ground until he finally slumped with a sigh. "Y-Yeah... I... I still feel their darkness permeating this place... trying to break loose. It isn't any stronger, at least, but it hasn't gone away either. It's just... constantly looming... reaching out..."

"Darkness does that," she offered calmly. "I just finished setting the last trap. So I'm free for the rest of the day if you want to do anything."

"Yeah, I probably should get outta here," Toby shyly chuckled, rubbing his neck and gazing off to the side. "Didn't really have any plans, so I guess-"
He went rigid for a moment, staring blankly at the horizon. For a while, he thought that the sunlight was just reflecting oddly off the landscape... but as he studied the vibrant colors, he suddenly realized that they were getting closer. "Um... What is that??"

Chrys looked in the direction Toby was turned towards. She blinked.
"Looks like some sort of mist. But it doesn't look as sinister as the stuff from October," she offered as she started to back into the graveyard.

"Y-Yeah... but..." Toby nervously back away from the approaching mist as if it was a stranger getting in his personal space. "What the heck IS it?? I'm already up to my neck in weird phenomena! I-I don't wanna- YIPE!"
An awkward spasm wracked Toby's body when the misted touched him. He then fell backwards as a black aura shot out of his body and into Chrys's.

Just as Toby's black aura hit, Chrys' own red one was flung at him as she fell forward and caught herself on a gravestone.
The mist lingered around her feet as she shivered. A zap from her belt caused her to jump and yelp in pain. This continued a few more times before she removed the belt.
"So.... what just happened?"

"Ugh..." Toby lay there in a daze probably longer than he needed to. He kept silent as he sat up and rubbed his head, staring innocently up at Chrys.
Surprisingly, he felt... exactly the same. A little jittery, maybe, but certainly nothing out of the ordinary. He had been expecting a lot worse. "I-I'm not sure..."

Chrys was looking at her belt. "That mist must have shorted my driver.... my belt was shocking me...." she offered.

"That's... weird..." Toby stood up and walked over to her, studying her belt with a raised eyebrow. "I... guess that's the worst of it, then. Doesn't seem like that mist did much of anything else."
Then again... when Toby really paid attention, he found that he didn't feel the same pull as before. At least not to the same extent. That was enough to kept him questioning the goings on.

Chrys shivered. She could feel a tug telling her to stay.
"H-h-h-how about we get out of here?" It was odd to see a girl that was usually brave acting so scared and fearful.

Toby gave Chrys a worried look, easily sensing her rattled nerves. Of course he was in total agreement when she suggested they leave. He was still just as eager, perhaps now even more so since he didn't feel that instinctive obligation anymore."Y-Yeah, probably should."
He gently took Chrys's hand and started walking at a quick yet calm pace. Something told him that there was more amiss here than just a malfunctioning belt.
