"We're not making any progress... I think we already passed this tree-"
At that, a pair of eyes stared at the ninja. In the growing darkness, Kaze couldn't make out what those eyes belonged to, and threw the shuriken at the eyes...
The creature let out a yelp, and when the shuriken returned to the ninja, it had a few specks of blood on it. "Better safe than sorry, i suppose..."
Kaze walked up to one of the threes and slashed at it with a shuriken. "It's getting dark... If we don't find a way out, we'll need to find a place to camp for the night..."

"Yeah."
Silas sighed gently, shaking his head. "We should probably focus on that first, honestly. I don't think we're getting out of this forest tonight."
Oh well. It wasn't the first time he'd camped out.

"Then I guess this means our first order of business is to gather some firewood?"
Kaze glanced upward, as if looking for a clearing in the mass of trees. "I can send a smoke signal up. If any of our comrades or lords are present, hopefully we can alert them."

"That's a good idea. I can get started on the firewood." His sword wasn't exactly a hatchet or anything, but in a pinch, it would do. "Let me know if you find a spot that'd work for sending the signal up. 'Till then, I'll get to work here."
Hopping off of Franz, Silas tied the horse to a tree nearby, drawing his sword and getting to work cutting some firewood for them to use.

The ninja separated from the cavalier, looking for a good potential spot. After a few minutes of walking, he had found what appeared to be a cleaning.
Kaze glanced up. The tree cover was less intense. A downwards glance revealed a stream nearby. Perfect, he thought. The green-haired man removed his scarf and tied it to a nearby branch.
Turning around, the ninja found Silas at their point of departure. "Need some help carrying the firewood? I've found a good spot."

Silas nodded. "Thanks. I appreciate it." He'd gotten quite a good amount of wood for such a short period of time. "If you take part of it I can lead my horse over at the same time. You think it'll still be bright enough that someone could see your signal?"

"I assure you," Kaze said as he took some of the firewood out of Silas's arms. "It should be visible. If not, well... I suppose we can try again tomorrow."
Upon reaching the site, the ninja reclaimed his scarf, and then set on grabbing some green plants. "We'll need a larger than usual blaze for this to work; stuff that's still green helps with the smoke as well," he explained.

"Got it." Silas walked around their campsite, gathering green plant matter as well. "...I hope the others are alright."

"I'm worried about the others as well," Kaze said, removing his scarf and dipping it into the river. He then wrung it out, the purple fabric merely damp now. When he looked back up, there was the start of a blaze on the wood. "But as it stands..."
His voice trailed off. When Kaze deemed the fire sufficiently large enough, he began to toss some of the green plants onto it. A few minutes later, he threw the damp scarf on top of the flames, then removed it, releasing a puff of white smoke. He quickly repeated this gesture. "It means don't worry about us," he explained, repeating the acton. "We are safe, please find the others first..."

"I see..." Silas blinked, as if a thought suddenly occurred to him. "...Besides your brother and the other ninja he serves Lord Ryoma with, though, who else will know what this signal means?"

"Well..."
Another pause, followed by two more puffs of smoke. "Lord Corrin and Lady Corrinne asked me to teach them some basic ninjustu... Though I'm afraid this is all I was able to get to."
Kaze took a moment to toss some of the spare greens into the flames. "Hana also seemed interested..."
There was a silence. Nobody else knows...

Silas blinked slowly. "...Gods, I hope they're nearby. If they're not..."
Well, it wasn't the end of the world, but he'd still prefer to meet up with the others as quickly as possible.

Kaze remained silent. After a few more puffs, he stopped the smoke signals.
Staring into the fire, the ninja put his scarf back on, looking unfocused. "As do I," he simply stated.

Silas was quiet for a while, before the knight spoke up again. "...I do have to admit that I'm glad that I wound up with you when we arrived here. Not many folks I trust as much as you, Kaze."
He chuckled. "I'm sure things'll work out."
