Full Name: Yarne
Nickname(s): Chambray (his ‘Taguel’ tribal name), Bunny boy.
Age: 19
Height: Unknown, but tall
Weight: Light for his size.
Gender: Male
Race: Half-Taguel, Half-Human
Alliance: Heroic
Home: Ylisstol
Franchise: Fire Emblem (Awakening)
Physical Description
Yarne is, at first glance, quite tall. At second glance, what sticks out most might be… his appearance. He has long floppy ears, patches of brown fur over his body, and a small patch of sandy blond, almost white hair, which he got from his father, Robin.
His eyes are a light orange color. Yarne wears pieces of blue armor that shift along with him when he’s in his Taguel form, offering some protection to him. In his taguel form, he’s larger, with brown fur and white markings around his face. He also does not wear shoes, instead wearing footwear somewhat like Corrin and Corrinne; leg armor that covers the arch of his foot but leaves everything else open.
Weapons and Accessories
Yarne arrives at the island equipped with just one weapon, his Beaststone+. While it is limited use, it offers him nothing but bonuses to his statistics; specifically, +5 Strength, +8 Skill, +8 Speed, +6 Luck, +4 Defense and +2 Resistance.
He also has a Vulnerary with him, with enough potion for three uses.
Abilities/Powers
Being half Taguel, Yarne has enhanced senses, giving him great vision, hearing, and smell. He also has several combat-related skills which will be covered below.
Weaknesses
Being half-Taguel, Yarne is vulnerable to foes with Beast Killers and the Beastbane ability. He also isn’t the best at taking magical attacks, especially Fire-based spells.
Skills
Yarne has quite a few combat skills, some of which were passed down from his parents.
His Personal Skill, Fight or Flight, shows his instincts and the effect is as follows: “When HP >50%, grants unit +20 Avoid when counterattacking, or +5 dmg and +10 Crit on attacks. The lower the unit’s HP, the more likely ‘Fight’ activates.” Yarne’s body reacts more effectively when he’s in a panicked state due to adrenaline, and it increases his reflexes. It can also, when he’s pushed, lead him to strike even harder, with his will to fight greater the more injured he is.
From his Taguel class, Yarne has the Even Rhythm and Beastbane skills. Even Rhythm gives him +10 Hit and Avoid on even numbered turns… this manifests in the form of Yarne’s biorhythm giving him more energy on that pattern, and Beastbane allows him to take advantage of his natural instincts to strike vulnerable spots on mounted units and other beasts.
From Robin, Yarne inherited his Ignis skill, which lets him use his innate magical ability to enhance his physical attacks, or use his physical power to boost magical attacks, at (Skill)% chance.
From his mother, Panne, Yarne inherited her Lancebreaker skill from when she learned the Griffon Rider’s art. This gives Yarne additional combat expertise against opponents using lances, giving him +50 to Hit and Avoid.
Also, due to Robin’s influence, Yarne is capable of learning the techniques of almost any class there is, with only a few limits. This makes him extremely versatile, and also showcases the knack for learning that his father gave him.
Other than that, he doesn’t have much else. Like his father, he is not a good cook.
Personality
Yarne is… a bit of a coward. Okay, more than a bit. He’s quite jumpy, normally, and prone to freaking out when he’s in a dangerous situation. This is due to his fear of his species going extinct, having been the only living Taguel in his time period.
Beneath the cowardly exterior, however, is a very noble and proud young man, who honestly tries his hardest to do good. He fights his fears as best he can… hot water, slipping, and pointy objects among them.
He also doesn’t like being treated like a ‘cute little bunny’, nor does he really care for being cuddled, petted, or anything like that. He’s also extremely protective of what’s precious to him, especially his little sister.
History
Yarne knew nothing but sorrow for a good part of his life. He lost both of his parents at a young age… his father, Robin, promised Yarne that he’d return from the battle he was going to, but… Robin became Grima, and Yarne didn’t see his father as himself again, in the future. His mother, Panne, perished not long after, leaving him the last Taguel in the world.
Eventually, with most of humanity dead, Lucina escaped into the past with the other children, Yarne being among them. Unfortunately, they’d all gotten separated. Fearing for his life, Yarne joined a group known as the Stonewall Knights, hoping that they would protect him.
Things went well for a time; eventually, however, Chrom’s army happened upon a skirmish between the Stonewall Knights and another group called the Riders of Dawn. Taking on both groups, Yarne’s mother, Panne, having smelled a Taguel, found him. Upon finding out that Yarne had ‘hid behind man-spawn’ in her own words, she forcibly dragged him into Chrom’s army, intent to teach him ‘taguel pride’.
After the battle was won, Yarne properly joined the army, lending his strength to the campaign. During that time, he got to know his mother better, the two deciding that since neither knew of their kind’s traditions, that they’d build a new tradition for their kind. He also got to know his little sister, Morgan, better.
Receiving some harsh training from Kjelle and Severa, he began to change somewhat, and Noire and Cynthia’s encouraging words helped him grow, working past some of his fears. It came to a head one night when Nah, who he’d been getting to know better, was nearly kidnapped by bandits; Yarne went headlong into the fray and beat down the bandits on his own, saving her.
As the time grew closer to Grima’s return, Yarne found himself getting closer to some of the other children, and ultimately, on the eve before the final battle, he proposed to Lucina. She accepted, and the two had a new resolve to survive.
As Robin sacrificed himself to destroy Grima for good, Yarne was broken for quite some time, having lost his father not once, but twice. Lucina helped him heal, however, and when Robin was found again, months later, Yarne was overjoyed. After that, he and Lucina traveled for quite a while, with Yarne searching for a safe place… his goal made more difficult by Lucina constantly going to help folks they met.
UPDATE 3/7/17 (expanding backstory slightly): A little while after, he and Lucina were contacted by a mysterious man cloaked in a hood who was seeking help... finding the situation rather suspicious, neither of them went to where he was asking them to go, suspecting a trap.
Eventually, the two returned to Ylisse, helping Lucina’s father where possible as soldiers. When Robin went to investigate an odd sighting and didn’t return, Yarne, concerned, volunteered to go look for his father, not knowing what he’d get himself into...
