"Thanks and okay," she offered before finishing her taco.

A short time later, once the food was put away, Toby washed up and once again nestled comfortably into the couch with a relaxed sigh. He looked out the window at the twilight-drenched suburb, basking in the calm of the evening. Then he smiled up at Chrys, straightening up slightly. "Y'know, I haven't seen this one yet either. Saw the first, but not this one."

"I had to force Jar'rak to sit still for the first one. I think I threatened to clip his wings at one point..." She noticed the odd look. "He was talking during the movie. Loudly."

"Uuuuugh... Hate that," Toby groaned in agreement. "I mean, riffing on bad movies is one thing; we go into them with the intent to verbally mock them. But if I actually wanna watch the movie, let me watch the dang movie!"
As the DVD menu started up, Toby randomly added, "Did you know that in the twenties and thirties, movie theaters had separate screening rooms where mothers could take their children if they were crying and still watch the movie? Pfft. If theaters had those today, they'd be texting rooms, am I right?"

"That, make out spaces, or maybe rooms for nursing mothers," Chrys offered before hitting play. "Maybe even still for mothers with crying kids."

"Ideally, yeah... Brutally realistically, I still say texting rooms are inevitable, to my eternal dismay." Toby chuckled a bit at his sarcastically grim tone, pausing to scratch his shoulder. "But anyway, let's do it!"
As the movie began, Toby settled next to Chrys, shooting her another smile before turning his attention to the screen.

Chrys nodded before relaxing as the opening played to the movie. She let Toby see a small smile.

As the movie progressed, Toby naturally fell silent, losing himself in the atmosphere and drama. He of course chuckled at the humorous moments, but he otherwise kept still, only moving when he needed to scratch something and/or make sure Chrys didn't see him scratching himself.
He was enjoying it, absolutely. Jack Black was funny, Gary Oldman made a terrific villain, there was a lot of heart, and the animation was gorgeous. But it was around the halfway point that Toby started to drift, only barely registering the movie at all. He was feeling oddly tired. Almost lightheaded...

Chrys had cuddled in. She couldn't explain why but she was starting to drift off herself. Her heart felt oddly heavy as the movie progressed.

With what little focus he had solely fixated on the screen, Toby never even registered the fact that he was snuggled up against Chrys, her head on his shoulder, his cheek in her hair. He didn't even have the energy to scratch himself anymore. If anything, he just felt numb. Maybe he needed water... Nah, too tired to go get some. Too warm to move...
When the flashbacks of Po's mother hiding him and sacrificing herself to protect him from Shen's army flashed across the screen, again, without Toby even realizing it, tears started to silently escape his eyes.
He wasn't even sure what was going on anymore. It barely felt like he was in the present.

"Toby? You okay?" Chrys asked.

"Hm...?" Besides the tired grunt, Toby hardly responded to Chrys, his half-open, tear-soaked eyes still focused on the screen. Although, said grunt did stir him enough to make him let out a soft exhale and curl up on the couch, cuddling up even closer to Chrys.

Chrys pulled him close and rubbed his back.

Soon enough, finding comfort in Chrys's embrace, Toby had an arm around her and his face half-buried in her hair. By the time the movie came to an end, he was fast asleep, eyes finally closed and breaths soft and content.

Chrys softly sighed. He's been through a lot in the past 24 hours, she thought as she started to drift off herself. Before she did fall asleep a free hand had the remote turn off the movie and tv.
