Full Name: First Princess Hinoka of Hoshido
Nickname(s): N/A
Age: 23
Height: Medium-tall
Weight: Medium-light
Gender: Female
Race: Human (with dragon ancestry)
Alliance: Family
Home: Hoshido
Franchise: Fire Emblem (Fates)
Physical Description
Hinoka, unlike many people from her world, doesn’t require a visual aid to describe. She has reddish-pink hair, which is cut very short. Fair skin, and a lean but strong build; she wears light white-and-gold armor over her arms, a white scarf, and a short shirt and skirt; the center part of her outfit is white while the sides are red like her hair. She also wears thigh-high brown boots.
Weapons and Accessories
Hinoka, upon arrival, has three weapons with her; the first is a Guard Naginata, which is a Hoshidan lance that, while not incredibly powerful, has a large shield as part of its design, giving the user +5 Defense and Resistance, which helps Hinoka’s fragility issue. She also has a Steel Lance from Nohr, which she uses in situations where she needs more power; it is stronger, but also heavier, which makes it more difficult for her to evade attacks; as such, she rarely uses it. The third is a Sun Festal, a healing rod from Hoshido of moderate strength.
Abilities/Powers
As a descendant of the Dawn Dragon, Hinoka has the power to utilize Dragon Veins to alter her environment, though this power is considerably weaker outside of her home world.
She had the ability to utilize healing rods and staves, though that was lost in transition to the island and requires a Master Seal to regain.
Her Personal Skill, Rallying Cry, showcases her leadership and inspirational skills; its effect is “All allies within a 2-tile radius deal 2 extra damage.” Her words fire up her allies, letting those close enough to her hit all the harder.
Darting Blow, her next skills, works like this: “When the user initiates battle, double attack threshold +5”. Essentially, when Hinoka starts a fight, her advantageous position gives her a boost to her speed.
Camaraderie heals her somewhat if there are allies near her, acting as a reassurance.
Her final skill, one that she doesn’t remember learning, is ‘Seal Defense’. Her blows break through an enemy’s guard, reducing their defense by 6, with the effect slowly weakening over time.
Weaknesses
Hinoka, while riding on the back of her pegasus, Catria, is very vulnerable to wind magic and to bow-users. She personally also is prone to overworking herself and taking on much more than she can handle.
Skills
Most of Hinoka’s skills are focused around combat and command; she could very easily be described as a warrior princess. While she is capable of cooking, she isn’t very good at it; she tends to not think it through as well and the results are usually described as Reckless.
Personality
Passion is a word that describes Hinoka well. She used to, as a small child, be much more shy… however, when her sibling was taken from Hoshido to Nohr, she changed. Guilt and regret played a large part in her growth, and she became a very strong, if somewhat reckless, young woman.
While she did become somewhat neglectful of her youngest siblings, she never stopped caring about them, and once even put herself in a great deal of danger, searching for Sakura in the middle of a storm that pegasi couldn’t fly in. She is very selflessly compassionate.
On the battlefield, Hinoka is a spitfire. She fights with speed and strength, and will not relent on her opponents.
History
Hinoka grew up in Castle Shirasagi with her siblings, and for quite a while, things were peaceful, albeit uneasy due to the constant danger that Nohr seemed to provide. At least… until her sibling was kidnapped and taken to Nohr. Hurt by her inability to stop it, Hinoka began training as a Sky Knight at the age of 7, though her anger and passion made it difficult, as pegasi are not receptive to those without calm hearts. As such, she had difficulty controlling her steed. As a result, at one point, she crashed, and a monk named Azama healed her injuries and helped her return home. Believing him to be a kindhearted monk (how wrong she was), she hired him as a retainer. A while later, she would hire Setsuna as a retainer as well.
Over the years, she trained, even considering attempting to infiltrate Nohr and find her lost sibling, though Ryoma and Mikoto stopped her every time. She grew up over the years, and believed her sibling to be lost… until one day, when her lost brother Corrin appeared in Hoshido again. Overjoyed at his return, Hinoka fought alongside him a few times, defeating Faceless in their territory. When the blade that Corrin carried, Ganglari, shattered and killed Mikoto, war seemed inevitable. Taking Yato in hand, Corrin marched with his siblings to a branch of fate…
Where he chose to stay with Hoshido. Hinoka was delighted, and helped him fend off Camilla and Xander. While she wasn’t able to join up with him right away, she and her retainers did lend their strength to Corrin’s unit, and supported him on the campaign through Nohr. Eventually, while both Xander and Elise died (Elise to Xander’s own blade, and Xander to Corrin’s afterward), they were successful, and Garon was killed; Ryoma became king of Hoshido and Camilla abdicated her claim to the throne of Nohr to Leo.
Meanwhile, running concurrently to the above…
Hinoka was taken heavily aback when her sister, Corrinne, chose to fight for Nohr. She fought against her sibling on a few occasions, but, despite what she thought would happen, survived to the end of the war, thanks to Corrinne’s kindness, going into hiding for the remainder of the war. Ryoma committed seppuku and Takumi was nowhere to be seen… she and Sakura survived. While she took the throne of Hoshido, the war took its toll on both of them. She did her best, however, to work towards peace with King Xander.
However, that’s not quite what actually happened…
Hinoka’s twin little siblings took separate paths at the Branch of Fate… Corrin, wielding Yato, stayed with Hoshido, and Corrinne went with Nohr. It was the oddest feeling of Deja Vu… but every time they fought one of the Nohrian royals, Corrinne was also there… and it culminated with Corrinne dying on her own blade after Corrin defeated her. Garon was defeated, but… Hinoka felt a rather hollow joy in that.
Instead…
In another time, it happened the other way. Corrinne had Yato and went to Nohr, while Corrin stayed in Hoshido. She fought against the Nohrian royals alongside Corrin on a few occasions… but it wasn’t until after the war that she’d found out that Ryoma, Takumi, and Corrin were all dead. Corrin had taken up Raijinto after Ryoma died, in rage, and was unable to control the blade, dying of electrocution. She took the throne of Hoshido afterward, heart heavy from the loss… it took its toll on her.
Fortunately, they got another chance.
Neither of the twins chose a side. After the Hoshidan and Nohrian soldiers were defeated, both kingdoms targeted them. Hinoka herself, however, had some reservations about hunting her siblings… especially when Sakura, and then Takumi, left to join them. After a while, she, along with Ryoma and Scarlet, left Castle Shirasagi to lend their aid. Not long after, she jumped into the Bottomless Canyon alongside Camilla… into a place unexpected.
