Full Name: Flynn
Nickname(s): ‘Messiah’, ‘He who bares fangs at God’.
Age:: 18
Height: Unknown, but slightly tall
Weight: Average for his size
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Heroic Neutral
Home: The Eastern Kingdom of Mikado/Tokyo
Franchise: Shin Megami Tensei (IV: Apocalypse)
Physical Description
See the picture. Flynn is a fairly nondescript young man with black hair kept up in a ponytail. He wears a blue Samurai coat over a white shirt, wears a pair of white pants, and white shoes. He has a metallic gauntlet on his left arm, which is where his AI companion Burroughs resides.
Weapons and Accessories
Flynn, as a Samurai of Mikado, is capable of wielding different kinds of weapons, but his go-to is Masakado’s Katana; a sword with the power of the deity who made up the firmament over Tokyo. He also wields a gun he purchased in Ginza called the Light Gun; it’s a handgun that does a single hit per use in combat, with decent power.
His normal Samurai wear, while making him more vulnerable to Fire attacks, resists Ice attacks and makes him immune to Light. He also wears a Sturdy Earring that makes him immune to being poisoned, paralyzed, or made Sick.
Abilities/Powers
With his Gauntlet, Flynn is capable of speaking to demons, learning their skills, and casting magic. He has these spells available to use, though his MP pool is limited and he can only use so many per day. A simpler way of putting it is him having, essentially, five ‘spell points’. If he rests a while after using at least one, he’ll start to recover them.
Trisagion: A Severe-strength single-target Fire spell. (takes 2 points)
Bufudyne: A Heavy strength single-target Ice spell. (1)
Ziodyne: A Heavy strength single-target Lightning spell. (1)
Zandyne: A Heavy strength single-target Force (wind) spell. (1)
Mahamaon: A Light spell that hits an area; when Flynn is empowered (usually by striking an enemy’s weak point) it has a chance to instantly defeat an enemy; otherwise it does Light damage. (2)
Mamudoon: A Dark spell that hits an area; the same concept applies; when he’s empowered, it has a chance to insta-kill, otherwise it does Dark damage. (2)
Diarama: A mid-level single-target healing spell. (1)
Megidolaon: A Heavy-damage Almighty (Non-elemental) spell that hits an area. Powerful, but also very MP costly. (3)
Weaknesses
As mentioned above, Flynn’s current outfit has a weakness to Fire. Depending on the outfits he wears (at least the chestpiece), his weaknesses change. Besides that, while Flynn is fairly agile, he has no durability; he cannot take hits very well.
Skills
Flynn has very sharp eyes, enhancing his ability to detect danger and valuables. He’s also very good at parley, due to lots of practice recruiting demons and trading with them.
Personality
Flynn has a fairly mild personality, though underneath the surface he has a very fiery spirit. He speaks fairly softly most of the time, but his combat skills are nigh-on-unmatched among his group of Samurai. He rather enjoys seafood, though he himself is not that great a cook outside of very simple meals. Despite his mild outer appearance, Flynn has a presence about him that is very inspiring; while normally, demons would abandon their ‘commander’ if the commander fell, Flynn’s would fight to the end of a battle even if he went down.
History
Flynn was born in the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, in a town near Kiccigiorgi Forest. He was born a Casualry, the ‘working class’ of the kingdom, but on his 18th birthday, he, along with his childhood friend Issachar, went to Mikado Castle for the Gauntlet Rite. All 18-year-olds, Casualry or Luxuror (the nobility), underwent the rite, and if the Gauntlet activated, they would become Samurai, protectors of the people. Issachar did not, but Flynn did, alongside four others named Jonathan, Walter, Isabeau, and Navarre.
He underwent his Samurai training, learning about the residents of the catacombs underneath the statue of Mikado’s king Aquila in the center of the castle’s plaza… the demons. After saving Navarre from a demon’s Domain that he’d been captured in alongside several other Samurai, Flynn and the other three in the group got a mission from the Abott of the monastery to go down to the land of the ‘Unclean Ones’ for relics. They did, and it ended up leading Flynn into a conflict that he could not have seen coming.
After a while, he’d gone on a mission to rescue three people that were in captivity down there at the behest of one of the monks, a woman named Gabby. After the three were saved and returned to Mikado, he learned the truth; they were, alongside Gabby, the four Archangels; Uriel, Raphael, Gabriel, and Michael.
At this point, a choice awaited Flynn. He’d seen two other variants of Tokyo, the land he’d been going through, and a group called the White had implored him to end YHVH’s influence over the universe… he refused. Jonathan had chosen the path of Law, and sided with the Archangels, sacrificing himself to join with them, becoming Merkabah, the Chariot of God. Walter had chosen the path of Chaos, and had given himself to Lucifer to allow him to regain his true form. Both wanted Flynn to help them…
He refused.
Flynn sought the Neutral path; he believed there was a better way. A while after helping Navarre, disillusioned with Mikado and seeking sanctuary, get to Tokyo, he gained Masakado’s Katana with Isabeau’s help, and was in the process of gathering hope from the people of Tokyo, to give Masakado the power to break the firmament covering Tokyo…
In one world he succeeded in this… but that’s not what happened to this Flynn.
His timeline branched off around the time he first gained the Chalice of Hope and Masakado’s Katana, due to a certain Hunter named Nanashi getting a second chance at life from the Irish god, Dagda.
Flynn and Isabeau saved Nanashi and his friend Asahi from an angel, Aniel, who intended to wipe them out, and the two crossed paths for the first time; Flynn continued on his crusade… until a while later, when Maitreya of the recently-established Divine Powers used Asahi as a hostage, forcing him to give himself up. Odin electrocuted him and he was taken captive.
He remained that way for quite some time, until Nanashi and his friends infiltrated the Cosmic Egg that was to create a new universe. Krishna, the leader of the Divine Powers, merged with Flynn, becoming Vishnu-Flynn, and fought against Nanashi, though Flynn’s fighting from the inside weakened the form, allowing them to be defeated. Krishna had attempted to take Flynn over again, but Navarre (now a ghost following a rather embarrassing death not long after Flynn brought him to Tokyo) shouted for Isabeau to give him Masakado’s Katana. With the blade in hand, Flynn slew Krishna, and Nanashi destroyed the heart of the Cosmic Egg.
Everything seemed like it was going to be fine again… at least until a mysterious man named Stephen, who Flynn had encountered a few times before, appeared again. Flynn had intended to destroy the Firmament with Masakado, but that was not necessary, as Shesha, one of the Divine Powers’ most powerful members, had broken a hole in the firmament earlier, stabilizing the time difference between Mikado and Tokyo. Instead, the one thing that remained was to take the fight to YHVH, the Creator God Himself, to truly allow them to have peace.
Flynn accompanied Nanashi and his party into YHVH’s Universe, but during their travels, he and Nanashi were thrust through a dimensional warp by YHVH, in the God’s attempt to keep them away from him...
Other
While Flynn is capable of summoning demons normally, the transit disabled his Gauntlet, so he does not at the moment have any of them available to him.
