Full Name: Azama
Nickname(s): Asama (the Hoshidan pronunciation of his name)
Age: 32
Height: Fairly tall
Weight: Light for his size
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Alliance: Asshole. Aligned with Hinoka.
Home: Hoshido
Franchise: Fire Emblem (Fates)
Physical Description
Azama wears robes that seem more stylish than one would expect from a holy man; they are blue with puffy pants, and gloves and socks that are wholly skin-covering save for his fingers. An ornate-looking chestpiece rounds out the ensemble along with a white-and-blue headband.
Weapons and Accessories
Azama, upon arrival, has three weapons with him; he carries a Sun Festal, a mid-power Hoshidan healing Rod, an Enfeeble staff, letting him weaken his targets, and a Raider Naginata, though he does not have the ability to use it yet; he simply ‘borrowed’ it from a defeated Spear Fighter prior to arrival. It is a very light weapon that is good at tearing clothing off of enemies, removing their bonuses.
He also carries a divine pendant, a charm that was a gift to him from a holy deity that he received during one of his meditations. He is not allowed to use it for ‘entirely selfish’ purposes.
Abilities/Powers
Azama is a normal human, with some connections to the divine.
Weaknesses
Azama, unlike most healers, is actually fairly durable and has decent strength. However, due to that, his resistance to magic is notably lower than that of other healers.
Skills
Azama is knowledgeable about the divine and of belief, and is a decent cook, though befitting his personality, his meals are rather Eccentric; you never really know what boost you’ll get from him.
In combat, he has several skills…
Divine Retribution, his Personal Skill, calls down divine power on an enemy that strikes Azama when he has no weapons equipped, using the power from his pendant.’
Miracle, the next, is another result of his connection to the divine; it gives him a chance to survive a fatal blow equivalent to his luck if he’s not already on death’s door.
Rally Luck allows Azama to call upon his divine connection, bolstering nearby allies with a holy light that increases their fortune.
Finally, while he has no recollection of learning the skill, he also has ‘Spendthrift’ which allows him to utilize a Gold Bar in his inventory to increase his dealt damage by 10 and reduce damage taken by 10. Merchants with that ability utilize a crude form of alchemy to empower themselves.
Personality
Azama may seem like a well-meaning and holy man, but don’t let that fool you. He’s really not. He’s nihilistic, rude, and generally loves to get reactions from people. Beware. This monk is a professional troll. Still, he does have some sense of loyalty, as despite his quirks, he is rather loyal to Hinoka. He does meditate often, which brings him a sense of peace… just don’t interrupt him. He gets rather irritable if you do that.
History
A lot of Azama’s history is kept to himself, but from what can be gleaned, he came from a family of priests of an unnamed shrine in Hoshido, the second son. Due to his bad behavior, he was forced to ascend several mountain ranges, during which he found penance and attained a more calm demeanor befitting a priest. During one of his meditations, he happened upon Hinoka, who had been injured while searching for her lost sibling. He healed her and helped her get back home, at which point the princess mistakenly believed him to be a kind man.
She eventually took him on as one of her subordinates, and he served her for many years, until the time when the lost sibling returned.
When the Yato blade stayed in Hoshido, Azama fought alongside Hinoka and the others, working towards achieving peace between the kingdoms.
When it left for Nohr, however, Azama fought with Hinoka against the Nohrian army on several occasions, utilizing a Hexing Rod to great effect. While Hinoka did survive to become queen, Azama did not stay in Hoshido’s capital, leaving again, disappearing. Some believe that he founded a religion of his own in the time following but not much evidence exists either way.
However… When neither of the twins took a side, and took their Yatos with them, Azama stayed in Castle Shirasagi with Hinoka and Setsuna, defending the kingdom… until they left to give aid to the twins. When they jumped into the Bottomless Canyon, Azama did so alongside Beruka, Selena, and Setsuna. They were attacked by invisible soldiers, but a trap that Setsuna triggered aided their escape. Azama fell down alongside Selena...
