Physical Description
Nanashi is a very slight-looking young man, who has bright green eyes, light skin, and green tattoo-like markings on his face and hand, symbolizing his nature as Dagda’s Godslayer. He keeps his weapons and guns on various holsters on his back and hips, and his outfit is a bit… of a mishmash. He wears an olive-green suit that has the lyrics to ‘Imagine’ on them, a gray glove on his right hand, but not his left… take a look at his picture. It’ll make more sense.
He keeps his smartphone in a holder on his left arm.
Weapons and Accessories
Nanashi, unlike Flynn, carries several weapons with him; he became a bit of a weapon hoarder due to wanting to be constantly prepared for anything in the warzone that Tokyo had become.
His primary weapon is a sword, the Ame-no-Murakumo. It used to be the Ame-no-Habakiri, but upon proving himself to Take-Mikazuchi, the weapon was reforged. Nanashi kept it close because it was one of the only weapons that could hurt the giant snake Shesha, who was the ‘secret weapon’ of the Divine Powers. He keeps its sheath at his left hip.
On the side of his boot, he keeps a dagger, a Sleep Harpe; it’s a decently-sized knife that is light enough for him to sometimes strike twice with, and it is laced with a toxin that can cause foes to fall asleep.
Diagonally-right facing on his back is a Battle Hammer. He rarely uses it because it is heavy and kind of awkward to wield, but it is strong and can daze foes he strikes with it.
Diagonally-left facing on his back is the Gae Bolg, a spear he got from Cu Chulainn after fighting the god. It possesses the power of wind and Nanashi can strike multiple foes with quick strikes with it.
Finally, further down on his back, Nanashi keeps his Scar Rifle; it’s the only gun he uses, but it’s a powerful rifle that he can shoot accurately even long-range with, though his accuracy and strength of his gunshots weakens at closer range.
Along with his Scar Rifle, Nanashi carries multiple kinds of bullets for it; while he can’t rapidly swap between the types, he has access to multiple elements through his gun; he carries Genbu, Baihu, Long, and Suzaku rounds, giving him access to Lightning, Ice, Wind, and Fire elements, respectively, Venom Rounds, which while weaker in raw damage from his other bullets have a chance to poison enemies he shoots, and AP Rounds, which have no special effects, but are fairly strong.
Abilities/Powers
Nanashi didn’t have any sort of special powers before Dagda made him his Godslayer. After he did, Nanashi gained the ability to command demons even without the use of his smartphone, which helped quite a bit when Maitreya put a mandala over Tokyo, preventing the use of the Demon Summoning Program.
While he’s capable of learning demon skills, he did not use that for magic. Instead, he learned various special attacks, Physical and Gun-based, from his demons.
Normally they also require MP to use, but in the transit, they changed, instead taking some of his vitality to perform, making overuse of them very risky.
Akasha Arts: A severe-strength Phys ability, single-target (¾ HP)
Titanomachia: A wide-hitting Phys ability, heavy-strength, with a high Crit rate, but low Hit (⅔ HP)
Purple Smoke: A medium-strength Phys ability that hits multiple times, with a chance to Confuse/Panic an enemy (⅓ HP)
Mist Rush: A Phys attack; Nanashi cloaks himself in spiritual mist, striking enemies in an area rapidly at medium strength, with a chance to Daze them (⅓ HP)
Stun Needles: A medium-strength Gun attack; Nanashi fires a barrage of needles from his gun in a cone in front of him, which has a chance to paralyze enemies struck (⅓ HP)
Heaven’s Bow: A heavy-strength Gun ability; Nanashi fires a rapid volley of holy arrows from his gun, striking all enemies in an area (⅔ HP)
Riot Gun: A severe-strength Gun ability; Nanashi fires a powerful blast from his rifle (¾ HP)
Along with these, Nanashi has ‘Awakened Power’ in his skillset, which he attained prior to the fight against Krishna; it’s the embodiment of the power he attained through his bonds with others, and boosts the damage from all his attacks, allowing him to pierce resistances.
Weaknesses
Nanashi’s Master Suit outfit, a gift for all the completed quests he’d done for the Hunter’s Association, is a very durable suit, by all means. It gives him resistance to Physical attacks, Gun attacks, and Dark abilities.
However, it provides no protection against elemental magics, and because he’s not quite human, he’s vulnerable to Light magic. He also does not have good defense; he can’t take hits well and has to rely on his agility.
Skills
Nanashi is decent at improvising tools if need be, and he’s naturally a good leader. He can’t cook well, though. Growing up in the hellhole that his world’s Tokyo is will do that to someone.
He’s also a very good shot and has sharp eyes to go with it.
Personality
Nanashi doesn’t talk much, but when he does, he has a presence about him that is inspiring. For being as young as he is, he carries himself in a way that makes him seem quite a bit more mature. He has a fiery spirit underneath a veneer of calm, but when he’s angry, he’s not someone you want to mess with.
He’s fiercely protective of his friends and will do everything he can to avoid casualties. After all, as he’d say, he’d already seen far too much death for pretty much anyone. He is very hard to unnerve, as well; he’s been through quite a bit for someone his age and has no issues killing others if need be.
History
Nanashi was born in Tokyo, though he never knew his parents; they were victims of a demon before he could really remember. He grew up in the Kinshicho Shelter, adopted and raised by a man known to most as ‘Boss’, alongside Boss’ daughter, Asahi. He trained alongside her to become a Hunter as he got older, wanting to help the people of Tokyo however he could…
On one mission, he found a broken smartphone, which was still working, somewhat. During a training session, while accompanying two veteran Hunters named Nikkari and Manabu on a mission, they were ambushed by a retinue of Lucifer’s demon soldiers, led by one of his officers, Adramelech. Manabu shielded Asahi from one of Adramelech’s firey attacks, and died for it, and after trying to fight, Nikkari died as well. Nanashi tried in vain to defend himself and Asahi, but also was killed…
Fortunately for him, though, he’d caught the eye of a certain god. Dagda appeared before him in the afterlife, and offered him an opportunity to return and save Asahi… by becoming his Godslayer, something like a puppet to him. Only caring about Asahi’s safety, Nanashi took Dagda’s offer, returning with his smartphone repaired, and with a newfound power. Fighting off Adramelech’s demon horde, Adramelech left, and Nanashi and Asahi returned, eventually becoming full-fledged Demon Hunters. A while later while on another mission to try and explore the Sky Tower, Nanashi and Asahi were attacked by Aniel, a powerful angel, but Flynn and Isabeau saved them.
They continued to work to help humanity until the Divine Powers showed up… Asahi was taken prisoner and Flynn was forced to give himself up to save her. To end the war between Lucifer and YHVH, they needed Flynn, so, alongside fighting off the Divine Powers’ heavy hitter, Shesha, Nanashi and his newfound allies Navarre (a former Samurai of Mikado who had fallen from grace), Nozomi (another Hunter who had become queen of the fairies with the power of Dagda’s mother Danu), Hallelujah (a member of the Ashura-kai, a mafia-like organization that protected humans, who later was revealed to be half-demon), Gaston, Navarre’s younger brother and head of a group of Samurai sent by Merkabah to fight against Shesha, Toki, a member of the Ring of Gaea who was trained as an assassin from a young age, and Isabeau, who wanted to help save Flynn, they attacked the Divine Powers’ stronghold.
They got Flynn back… or so they thought. The Flynn they had saved, and who had gone to the battle with Lucifer and Merkabah, was Shesha in disguise. He’d gotten more powerful with his rebirths after his defeats and deaths, and had been taking the souls of various humans by inspiring them with his words. He attempted to ambush Nanashi and kill him… but Asahi took the blow and was devoured by the snake.
Furious, Nanashi attempted to kill Shesha, but to no avail. Shesha escaped and turned into the Cosmic Egg, which would bring about a new universe, and so Nanashi lead the group inside, locating and defeating the Divine Powers’ higher-ups one by one; Odin fell first, and Gaston took his spear, Gungnir (having since discarded the Spear of Michael that Merkabah had gifted him, along with his ego), then Inanna, then Mitra-Buddha, then finally Krishna himself, who had merged with Flynn to become Vishnu-Flynn.
Just prior to the fight against Krishna, Dagda had demanded that Nanashi discard his remaining humanity and prepare to use the Cosmic Egg to make a new universe, without YHVH’s meddling… but Nanashi refused. He clung to his remaining humanity and the bonds with his friends. Enraged, Dagda took his power from Nanashi, leaving him on the edge of death as he attacked. Danu recreated Dagda, and the new Dagda lent his power to Nanashi, though let him keep his free will. When the old Dagda faded, Nanashi’s resolve strengthened, and after defeating Krishna and freeing Flynn, Nanashi destroyed the heart of the Cosmic Egg, killing Shesha for good.
All the souls that had been eaten were revived by Dagda, Asahi’s included. They began their recovery efforts with all three oppressive sides destroyed… but they weren’t done yet. A mysterious man named Stephen, who both Flynn and Nanashi had encountered before, appeared before them. They had one goal left… to destroy YHVH and end his oppressive cycle’s stranglehold on the world.
Using special pillars they’d gotten in the Cosmic Egg, and the remaining power of Masakado’s body, they created a monolith leading them to YHVH’s Universe, a mysterious space… as they neared YHVH’s location, the god, desperate to stop them, flung Nanashi and Flynn through a tear between dimensions...
Other
Dagda is a ‘side character’ of sorts for Nanashi, as he typically operates as the AI in his smartphone. Dagda normally is capable of bringing back Nanashi as many times as needed… but due to his lack of connection thanks to the transdimensional travel, no longer can do that. All he can do is keep Nanashi’s body going.
As Nanashi is essentially a walking corpse, his body temperature is naturally very low.
