Two hours passed. The city was searched top to bottom. And still Ladybug felt like she was getting nowhere.
If there was one thing she was absolutely certain of by then, it was that she was in fact in another dimension. The widely-varied populace of this city was enough to prove that to her, but then she discovered the Interdimensional Travel Station, cementing her theory once and for all. At least it gave her hope that there was a route back to Paris. Her version of Paris, that was. From what she gathered from her study of the station, the chances of that were possible but not likely.
So there she was, stranded in another universe while a villain was wreaking havoc back home, with still no sign of any of her other friends, any of Escapist's other victims, or even a telltale sign of Chat Noir.
Eventually, hopelessness and worry overcame her, prompting Ladybug to return to the movie theater. She needed someone to confide in, and it seemed like there was only one viable option.
In the evening light, with no one around, Ladybug swooped in on her yo-yo string and dashed behind the theater. A flash of light briefly burst to life where she landed.
Marinette poked her head around the corner, ensuring no one had seen that, then ducked back behind the building and faced the little red creature hovering near her head.
"What am I gonna do, Tikki?" she anxiously asked. "How're we gonna get out of this... whatever this place is?"
"Don't give up hope, Marinette," Tikki gently replied. "This is new territory for me too, literally and figuratively, but if other dimensions exist, then there must be innumerable ways to travel between them. We'll find our way home one way or another."
"Yeah, but how long will that take? Paris needs Ladybug now."
"Maybe that's not entirely true."
"What do you mean?"
"Remember how Adrien said he and Chat Noir arrived here a day ago, even though Escapist had only been causing trouble for a few minutes?" Tikki mused. "I imagine that to get to another dimension, we had to travel through space AND time, so maybe one day here is five minutes there!"
"Huh..." Marinette tapped her chin. "I hadn't thought about that. If that's the case, we may at least be afforded more time to figure out what we should do, both to get home and how to take on Escapist when we do."
"Right! And even if we can't find a way back soon enough, look at it this way: Both you and Chat Noir are here. How is Escapist supposed to capture your Miraculouses when you're in separate worlds?"
"Oh yeah..." Marinette chuckled. "So he might be running straight to us if Hawk Moth has anything to say about it. Then getting home would be a piece of cake with the Miraculous Ladybug!"
"Exactly! Now how about you go find Adrien again and relax for the evening?" Tikki offered as she flew around and jumped inside Marinette's purse.
"Relax... with Adrien??" Marinette started getting anxious again. "Right now? Are you sure?"
"Sure I'm sure!" Tikki beamed up at her. "You've worked hard today, and I'd say we have some time to spare. Go on. You've earned it."
Marinette smiled back at her kwami, grateful and rather excited. "Thanks, Tikki."
After closing up her purse, Marinette dashed out into the open, circled the building and sat down in a bench near the theater entrance. Adrien and his new friends would hopefully be coming out soon. Their movie had to be nearly over by then. She was willing to wait, but of course, she was fidgeting and fretting all the while. What should she say? What were they going to do? How would Adrien react? How would his friends react? How weird was this going to be with Adrien temporarily aged to his twenties? The pressure was on to make a good impression, and she was quickly starting to miss Alya's words of encouragement.
