"Yeah, let's just go with that..." Swift mumbled between half-hearted nibbles of her sandwich. Whatever got Evan fixed sooner, she supposed...
"Hm?" She looked up at Patrick and tilted her head, taking a few seconds to remember the second issue at hand. "Oh! Right. That. Yeah, I saw that lion-dragon thing a few times during my solo search last night. It was asleep at the time, and I figured I oughta leave it that way because like hell did I wanna deal with that friggin' monstrosity. And it always seemed like I was running into it right when I was hot on Rainflower's scent trail. Because that's what I wanna find whenever my hopes are highest!"
Swift slumped into the couch, briskly finishing her lunch with a hard, pouting glare. "Guess it's just one more thing I gotta worry about today."

.... Erin considered this a moment, nodding her head... "Well by that logic that means Rainflower SHOULD be close by right? Why haven't we run into her yet?"
She had to admit, this was starting to sound a bit concerning....

"Well, no time like the present to find out, right, ladies?!" Patrick cheerfully declared. "We got two hikers, a thief, a master of bonds, a scent tracker, and a mage with a stomach fulla sandwich! I'd say we're primed and ready to get this gravy train a-rollin' again!"
With a slight twitch, Van seized control from Patrick, taking a deep breath before continuing in a matter-of-fact tone, "In all seriousness, though, I would prefer if the encounters with any strange fauna... THAT ONE in particular... are kept to a minimum from here on out. And yet..."
He turned around and faced the cavernous tunnel stretching beyond Rainflower's abode. "...somehow I get the feeling that'll be impossible."
Van then raised a hand, once again casting a tracking spell. He couldn't help but frown with uncertainty when a result bounced back to him, prompting him to begin a slow walk along the guiding path. "And see, there it is again. My magic telling me that Rainflower IS down here..."

"If you say so," Swift grunted, standing up and joining Van as he cast another tracking spell. Simple curiosity aside, she quickly found that she didn't care much about the monster lurking through the caverns. Her mission trumped any concerns about outside threats.
She huffed when, once again, Van's tracking spell apparently ended somewhere underground. "Yep. So either something in the air down here is completely screwing up your magic and my sense of smell, or Rainflower constantly keeps slipping right past us at the last minute. Either way, let's go! The fewer laps we have to run through this darn cave, the batter!"
Swift then leaped into a sprint, charging headlong into the caves, back to the old grind.

A lantern in one hand and another helping guide her along the bond ties. "Someone call for a Mistress of Binds?" she asked as she came up behind the group.
Forsaken seemed to be clad in more steampunkish attire and that attire was mixed with her Climber set of GT robes. Still riding the rune covered cube known as Delta.

....... As Erin followed after the others, she allowed her mind to wander to everything she had encountered and learned prior to this point... Vanishing into thin air had certainly been a random thing sure. And while Rainflower was known for being random, kind of their thing really, it seemed especially strange in this case.... What was that oddball working on? Did they know about that weird monster loose in the tunnels? Did she know anything about Evan's new condition? She certainly hoped so given all of the craziness that was going on now....
"Still... I wonder why Rainflower disappeared... What could she be working on down here...."

"Swift, wait!" Van called as he followed the hanyo. "Can we please not go recklessly charging off into the unknown?! Can we maybe come up with a pl-?!"
He skidded to a halt when another familiar face arrived, bringing a smile to his face. "Forsaken! Good to see you. We were just getting back on track." He then looked back at Erin. "With Rainflower, it's impossible to tell. Their unpredictability is frustrating enough, but typically it's near impossible to get rid of them. It only figures that they disappear the moment we actually need their help."
With a deep breath, Van turned back to Forsaken and Swift. "It might be best to split up again. We can do more damage that way."
AHH...! Van, I love you sometimes!
"My divination spells might have led me to one dead end after another today, but still, I believe I can sufficiently track by myself. Swift, perhaps you could work with Forsaken. I know Rainflower's scent is pretty scattered down here, so tracing the bond between you and them could offer great assistance."

Swift promptly slowed down when she heard Forsaken approach behind her, turning back around and casually rejoining the group with a light nod. Couldn't blame her for being anxious to get moving again, could they?
She sighed when Van suggested she and Forsaken work together. Not at the idea itself –frankly, it made plenty of sense– but at Van's suggestion that Swift's sense of smell had been rendered somewhat useless. She wanted to insist that it hadn't, that she could still track just fine... but Swift knew he was right, and the resulting feeling of uselessness ate away at her like little else could.
It only started to occur then to her how little there was she could do for her own boyfriend.
"Yeah, that sounds like a plan... Not sure what kind of bond there is to track between Rainy and me, but it's a start, I guess. Does it count as a bond if it's friendship one way and antipathy another?"

Forsaken took a breath. "Hey Ecto-sis. And as for that bond it would be similar to what I had towards Todd after he got hiJacked back during my first Black Fog event... A brackish almost black shade of red bond but if Rain sees you as a friend- there will be another color on their end," Forsaken offered.

"Whatever color the bond looks like," Erin swiftly interjected, "Let's follow it and find this fairy fast... I don't want to be in this cave when that..... WHATEVER that thing was we ran into before catches our scent again. It'll be a bit difficult defending everyone from it, AND we don't want to lose this trail while we still have it." She nods quickly and looks between the bunch. "After all, it likely belonged to Rainflower and I didn't stick around long enough to see if it had any sort of random trick up it's sleeve. And knowing Rainflower would it really surprise anyone?"

Van sighed. "No, not especially..."
He cast a glance over his shoulder, then turned back to the others whilst casting a flying spell over himself. "My trail ends just down this stretch and around the corner. If we don't find them there, I'll break off and conduct a solo search. For now, let's move!" Then Van started flying through the cavern again, following the path set by his tracking spell, hoping that this would finally yield a result.

"Bring it," Swift grunted as she followed Van, sprinting down the cavernous hall with Erin and Forsaken flanking her. No more beating herself up over things beyond her control. It was time to END this madness.
The team charged through the cave for a good minute or two, tracing spells, bonds or each other in pursuit of the fairy hopefully at the end. However, as they approached a bend in the path, Swift perked up somewhat, her fierce expression quickly turning shocked. "Hey, I... I smell 'em!!!"
Anxious and excited, Swift charged ahead of Van and towards the source of the mild yet recognizably sweet scent, ready to lunge the moment she saw Rainflower's stupid face and/or garish wings. She slid across the ground as she sharply rounded a corner...
Then she promptly came to a stop when she found her route effectively blocked.
Blocked by a familiar, oversized, jet-black creature covered in spines and tentacles.
The beast immediately turned away from the crystals it had been looking at when it sensed Swift in its vicinity, its antennae twitching and its beady eyes studying her as it let out an obstinate, garbled, walrus-chihuahua-hybrid-like bark.
Swift slumped and groaned. Of course the universe wouldn't cut her any slack. "Okay, yeah, I remember you."
As soon as Swift said that, the monster let out a deafening shriek, tongues writhing and antennae rattling.

Forsaken soon followed the group. She skidded to a halt after Swift stopped. "The heck is that?" she asked. Forsaken was still trying to find the bond between Swift and Rainflower- currently she couldn't see it at all.

Almost IMMEDIATELY, Erin rushed in front of Swift, holding out her hand, more then ready to open a portal and send this thing flying lord only knows where. "STAY BACK BIG BOY, DON'T MAKE ANY SUDDEN MOVES!!!"

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me..." Van sighed upon discovering the familiar beast around the corner. At least Erin was already taking initiative. Lord knew he was in no mood to spar with this thing again.
Regardless, Van readied a spell, hoping that they would at least be able to evade it soon enough. "I have no idea what this thing is. All I know is that it very clearly tried to eat me just a few moments ago." He cringed from the ear-splitting roars the monster emitted. "And somehow I get the feeling it still wants to."
