Seeing the others arrive to defend Swift, the beast let out a series of warped, clicking barks, scrambling back and forth while keeping a distance as if searching for some sort of weakness in their defenses. No matter which way it dove, its gaze and its vibrating antennae seemed to be constantly directed at Swift.
"Oh, the heck with it!" Swift groaned, taking on a defensive posture and charging up her yoki. "If this guy's so determined to get to us, I seriously doubt it'll stop until it does! And I am NOT putting up with any further distractions today! So sorry, big guy, but you gotta GO!"
She swiped her claws through the open air, releasing a barrage of yellow energy blades, most of which hit the monster dead-on. It stumbled back, reared its tentacle-covered head and yowled in pain, and yet its scaly hide had clearly sustained no damage from the attack. No scratches, no chips, not even a telltale mark. What quickly became brutally evident was that all the attack succeeded in doing was angering it.
Again, the creature screeched at the group, its talons digging into the earth as it charged at them like a raging bull-gorilla abomination. Likewise, Swift leaned forward and prepared to rush it, claws aimed to strike again...

Forsaken blinked. "Ummmm.... Houston.... we've got a big problem....." she offered as her eyes darted around and she swerved about. From her point of view, the bonds that joined the members of the party together just seemed to vanish near the beast. "SWIFT PROVOKING IT ISN'T HELPING!!!!!"

SPACE DEPLETION ACTIVATE
In that brief moment, the bunch quickly vanish into a void portal, finding themselves in Erin's voided dimension once more....... A few seconds later however they stumbled back out and found that the thief had re positioned themselves off to right to avoid the great beasts charge which caused it to almost collide with the wall. "Oh come ON already!!!" With a growl, she opened up another portal and pulled out one of her rackets, zooming at the thing with a mid-air glide almost.
When the beast turned around, it would find Erin mere feet away from it racket reeled back and ready for a big attack.

"You know, I REALLY don't think this is going to help our siuat-HEY!!!" Before Van could get his thoughts out in full, Erin pulled the group through a portal and placed them back in the cave out of the beast's way. Before he could try again to voice his opinion, Erin herself charged at the monster...
When the beast noticed her coming, Van could see a clear trace of fear in its beady eyes. This lasted for a solid split second before it lunged at the thief, taking the hit from the racket with barely a flinch as it simply entangled both it and its wielder in its mane of tentacles, screeching an ear-splitting screech as its jawless mouth stretched wide enough to encompass the girl.
"BLOODY HELL!" Half terrified, half irritated, Van threw himself at the monster and leaped into its mane right on top of Erin, immediately striking it with a bright green burst of pure force powerful enough to make it stumble back and loosen its grip. When the duo broke free and hit the cavern floor, Van pressed his hands down on the ground and cast another spell, turning the stone beneath them to soft clay that the beast quickly started to sink into.
"Okay!" Van sighed, his bright green aura slowly turning yellow. "If we can refrain from blindly rushing at this thing from here on out, I need to-!"

"HHHRRRAAAAAAAAUGH!!!" Van's words fell on deaf ears as Swift leaped into the air, aiming herself at the beast as it struggled to yank its hands out of the soft earth. She swiped her claws, her yoki extending their reach and striking the monster in the side, but again, in spite of the pained roars it emitted, the attack dealt no damage to its hide.
Regardless, Swift's free-fall ended with her landing on the beast's back, where she quickly swung her hand to drive her claws into the base of its neck. Unsurprisingly to everyone not in a rage-fueled adrenaline rush, the strike couldn't even scratch the surface and the initial impact with the thick, tough surface stung like crazy. And yet in spite of the pain coursing through her arm and plainly visible on her face, Swift continued to rake her claws against the monster's back, even as it shrieked and flailed wildly in an effort to shake her off.

Forsaken sighed. "So any brighter ideas than what Swift is doing?" she asked as she got down off her cube. "Erin try from the underbelly!"

Grrrrghgkladgjsajg-!!!! THAT WAS GROSS..... Van's words failed to reach her as well as Forsaken's suggestion reached her ears. Growling, she depleted space underneath her and vanished into another void portal, once more seemingly ceasing to exist for a brief moment-
Before a powerful burst of Space like energy, only not, bubbled up under the beast's underbelly-
POP!!! Before sending it flying backward after a loud POP. Erin herself popped out of the void portal to shout at the beast. "THAT WAS SO FREAKING DISGUSTING!!!! YOU REALIZE THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHIRT RIGHT?!?!?! I SWEAR TO CHRIST IF THE STAINS DON'T COME OUT I'M GOING TO HUNT YOU DOWN, COOK AND EAT THE CALIMARI YOU CALL FACIAL HAIR!!!"
Several more portals appeared around the beast as it quickly caught it's balance once more-
Only for more rackets to shoot out of each one before vanishing into another, the Fraymotif Armament Almagest showing in full force and forcing the creature to either watch it's step or get conked repeatedly for it's lack of care.

"SWIFT, STOP! NO, ERIN, DON'T TRY- OH, COME ON!!!" Van's anger was very visibly mounting as his orders were promptly ignored. "DO I EVEN EXIST?!"
For a moment, all he could do was watch as Swift jumped onto the monster's back and tried in vain to claw at its dense hide. Then Erin ignited a burst of void energy beneath it, causing the beast to emit a startled but not especially pained screech. It reared up on its hind legs, the explosive force dislodging its hands from the soft earth, tossing Swift off in the process.
The hanyo suddenly found herself floating in midair, caught by a small field of shimmering green energy.
Likewise, the moment after Erin called upon her fraymotif, the thief was quickly grabbed by another burst of green light.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!!!"
The two were hastily yanked Van and Forsaken's way, leaving the monster to writhe about as it tried to escape the mud and the racket being repeatedly thrown at it. Once Van had a good grip on all three girls, he lividly called out, "PATRICK!"
Then, in a blink, his shared body was taken over by the aforementioned personality. "GAH! I'M ON IT!"
The group was engulfed in purple light. When the light faded away, so too did the quartet.
Once they were gone, the void portals sealed themselves, allowing the monster to free itself from the clay without interference. Though it could freely move again, it found itself unable to do much beside look around the now empty cavernous space, soaking in the fact that the angry little people who had attacked it were gone. After taking a couple seconds to acknowledge this and really absorb the silence, the beast lowered its head and let out a warbling noise somewhere between the squeak of a wounded dolphin and the howl of a mournful wolf.
---------------------------
On the other end of the caverns, the group reappeared in another burst of purple light. With that successful teleportation out of the way, Patrick released his friends and let out a long sigh of relief.
"YIPE-!" This respite was short-lived, however, as Patrick was suddenly yanked out of the proverbial driver's seat...
"Oh, way to go, guys!" Ray griped. "Now we get to wander around this stupid cave some more until that thing surprise attacks us again! We coulda finished it off when we had the chance!"
The mage convulsed when his personality was switched yet again. "Ray, we were wasting our efforts!" Van spat back. "Did you see the hide on that thing?! That beast took everything we threw at it in stride! We don't have time to quarrel with the local fauna! For Evan's sake, we have to find Rainflower!"
"Yeah!" Ray shouted upon taking control back. "And that job would be a whole lot easier if we didn't have that bastard chasing us down! We've already run into it twice, Swift even more so! We obviously haven't seen the last of it!"
"Ray, I highly doubt we'll be able to kill it as easily as you'd like!" Van continued. "We're not a bottomless pool of magic! We can't be wasting it trying to take down something of that caliber! Finding Rainflower is our priority!"
The mage suddenly slapped himself in the face, giving way for Patrick to take over and nearly descend into tears in the process. "STOP FIGHTIIIIING!"

"HEY, HEY, EASY! EASY!" Swift shouted, flailing around as Erin's attack launched Swift off the monster's back and she was subsequently caught by Van's telekinesis spell. Against her will, Swift was dragged back over to the group and teleported away, finding herself and the others in another corner of the caverns far away from the hungry beast.
She dropped to her hands and knees the moment Patrick let her go, pausing to catch her breath and let the mage's three personalities argue. Her expression was still one of clear anger and frustration, none of which faltered when she finally looked up at... well, at that moment, it seemed like Patrick was the one in control. Considering the situation they were in, what they had escaped from and the circumstances they had created for themselves, she believed she had the right to be upset.
"Guys, cool it, alright?!" Swift eventually shouted at the mage. "Ray has a point! I've traveled these caves enough times today to know that we're not gonna shake that thing anytime soon, especially if it's that persistent when it's awake! But...!"
She hesitated, taking a moment to massage her fingers. The pain in her hand was finally starting to catch up with her. "Van's right too. That monster's skin was rock hard. No matter what, we're probably gonna have a hard time getting rid of it."
So... what were they supposed to do? Swift wasn't keen on the idea of wandering around with that beast on the loose, but she wasn't about to abandon this quest knowing Evan would pay for it.

"That doesn't explain why the trails go cold around it," Forsaken noted before the sound reached her ears. "That sounded sad...."

At first, Erin was enraged at the interruption and didn't appear to like being told what to do by someone she didn't really have the time to get to know all that deeply besides just in a fight and in danger... Unfortunately however, she caught her breath when the subject of the beast's thick hide came up... Sadly, she knew the wizard was right. Surprisingly not even any of her attacks seemed to effect it. Sure she hadn't tried any spacial attacks on it yet, but that was mainly because she thought they wouldn't be needed-
THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN THE mage broke down into tears and seemed to be begging that they stop fighting entirely. Note to self, contact her male self and get a more concrete explanation on these guys. At this point, the only real reason she was here was because Evan was the male version of her good friend Eevee... It seemed the thought of Eevee was what helped her calm down and hover into the air, landing on her feet once more. "HUFF..... R-Right... We need to focus... Think hard about everything that's going on..."
As she thought about this, Forsaken's word catches her ears and that made her stop to think. "....."
With that in mind, she considered what little she was told about Rainflower... Hmmm... Maybe...
Yeah, she was going to risk it.
She takes out her cell-phone and pulls up Pesterchum, contacting Alex over the chat function. "If all trails go cold around the beast.... I wonder if that's... I dunno... Related somehow? Honestly, I dunno. I really don't know anything about this Rainflower person..."

"Yeah, see?" Patrick murmured to the other two voices in his head. "Swift gets it. We gotta lay off each other if we're gonna get through this. Besides, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if we can or can't get rid of that thing, right? What matters is that we find Rainflower and fix Evan's R63.5."
He could almost feel Van staring blankly at him. ...You know ICD-10 codes, Patrick?
"I'm a wealth of useless information, Van. You know that."
So what are we supposed to do if that monster suddenly decides it's sick of the subterranean life? Ray grumbled irately.
We'll deal with that once THIS issue has been resolved, Van sternly replied. In the meantime, Patrick, if I may...?
"Oh, yeah. Sure." Patrick promptly closed his eyes and allowed his smarter third to take over.
Once he had, Van looked to Forsaken and Erin with a slow nod. "I noticed that too. How all trails to Rainflower seem to lead to that beast." He tapped his chin. "Well... what you need to know about Rainflower is that they have an almost maniacal fascination with transmutation. They're usually wont to test their transformative potions on bystanders who happen upon their workshop, but they're not above using their potions on themself. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if that was the reason we keep crossing paths with that beast, but I've always known Rainflower to be slightly more cautious when doing self-experimentation..."

"Right..." Everyone was starting to sound reasonable again, and it seemed like the most temperamental member of their party (possibly excluding Swift) had been placated. Now it was just a matter of determining their next course of action.
"Yeah, I... guess that would make sense..." Swift warily admitted. "Honestly, though, I hope you're wrong. Curing Evan's already proving to be complicated enough. I wouldn't even know where to BEGIN fixing Rainflower if that thing actually was them. But..."
She took a deep breath and put her hands on her hips. "If that is the case or not, I just wanna get this done and over with. So if we've all calmed down from that adrenaline high, I say we get back on the trail. If we run into that monster again... well... I guess we'll try whatever new approach we deem necessary with it."

Forsaken took a breath. "What if that creature is Rainflower?" She asked pointing out the elephant in the room. Another breath and she was looking for the ties again.
"I know this is a stupid idea but I'm going to intentionally look for the creature and try to just talk," she offered before noting the looks. "We want to help Evan and we need Rain to assist in that."

She had sent a few messages back and forth to her male self, the pieces all coming together as she did.
Rainflower was crazy? Check, she could believe that. Alex and Yang made as much clear before when they talked about their first meeting with the manically giggling lunatic. Her reaction to the Aflutterflies mayhem certainly didn't give them a lot of confidence. Upon bringing up the monster in the texts, Alex seemed interested to learn more about it, though Erin herself was unsure why that would hold water... However, upon giving a general description of the beast, Alex took notice that the beast was less beast, more Chimera. It wasn't really one defined beast, more a patchwork amalgamation of seemingly numerous beasts. Something like that certainly matched something that Rainflower could create...
However, now that those pieces were put in place, the ultimate puzzle that remained was... Where IS Rainflower?
......
Then something Alex typed in and sent caught her attention.
'With a person like Rainflower, maybe the answer that was the most obvious won't be the case. Sometimes you'll get more bang for your buck betting on the more absurd answer.'
.....................
She considers this a few moments, texts a thanks to her brother from another universe and shelves her phone in the Void pocket dimension.
"I just texted Alex. Given what he's seen of Rainflower, Genre Saavy has him suggesting thinking up the LEAST likely answer in regards to what this beast is and how it relates to Rainflower... I personally have nothing but... Maybe you guys can make something of that?"
