Full Name: High Prince Ryoma of Hoshido
Nickname(s): ‘Lobster Lord’
Age: 25
Height: Fairly tall
Weight: Average
Gender: Male
Race: Human with dragon ancestry
Alliance: Heroic
Home: Castle Shirasagi, Hoshido
Franchise: Fire Emblem (Fates)
Physical Description
Ryoma has a very distinctive appearance; he wears bright red samurai armor with white underclothes and gold trim, which covers most of his body, along with a bright red helmet with a distinctive appearance. He has hazel eyes and long brown (and spiky) hair. He keeps his katana, Raijinto, in a sheath at his hip.
Weapons and Accessories
Ryoma only has one weapon; his legendary katana, Raijinto. The electrically-powered katana is a potent weapon, bound to Ryoma, and unparalleled in power… except for the fact that it was weakened in transit. Its ranged attacks now have the properties like a Levin Sword; they are magical in nature and cannot activate critical hits or skills, though they can do follow up attacks.
Abilities/Powers
Ryoma, due to his dragon ancestry, has the ability to utilize Dragon Veins to alter the area around him in certain locations. Otherwise, his other powers are more like skills.
Weaknesses
Ryoma is more durable than the average Swordmaster, though he still has his limits. He can’t deal with Swordslayers and most lance weapons as effectively.
Skills
Ryoma has several different skills for use in combat, owing to his experience on the field.
His personal skill, Bushido, acts as follows: +10 Crit, +2 Damage dealt, -2 Damage received when the user’s level is higher than their support unit’s. When Ryoma’s fighting alongside someone ‘weaker’ than him in level, he fights all the harder because he believes that’s what’s right.
Next is Duelist’s Blow: When he initiates a battle, he controls its pace with his technique, giving him +30 Avoid; this makes him very difficult to hit.
Vantage, his next skill, boosts his agility when he’s below half vitality, letting him strike first when attacked.
Ryoma’s next skill is Astra, a secret technique of the Swordmaster. At Skill/2% chance of activation, Ryoma strikes 5 times in quick succession. The speed of the strikes, however, means that each strike does half the normal damage.
Finally, he has Rally Speed. While he doesn’t remember learning it, with a shout, he can inspire nearby allies, bolstering their agility for a brief while.
Off the battlefield, Ryoma is a fairly good cook, as well; regardless of what he makes, he tends to make it quite hearty; he believes that that’s best for a warrior.
Personality
Ryoma has a natural air of leadership about him, which shows both on and off the battlefield. He has a warm demeanor and is quite kind… though it’s best not to mistake that kindness for weakness; he has absolutely no issue making hard decisions if necessary, and he is brutally fierce on the battlefield.
His family is very important to him, even if he sometimes comes across as distant due to his duties as the Crown Prince. He also has no issues with trying to learn new things, and keeps a fairly open mind, most of the time; he can be prone to getting blinded by his emotions, and follows his code well beyond what most people would consider to be sane.
History
One of the most prominent points in Ryoma’s memory was the time when he was in Cheve with his father, King Sumeragi of Hoshido; they were enroute to Castle Krakenburg in Nohr to speak with the king there, when Sumeragi was struck down by a hail of arrows. Ryoma escaped with most of the entourage that had survived… but his younger sibling(s) had been taken by Nohr.
He began to train harder with the blade, determined to serve Hoshido and prevent something like that from ever happening again. Time passed, and his mother, Queen Mikoto, ruled well. One day, however, Ryoma had received word that his long-lost sibling had been seen in Nohr, and when they had returned, he fought alongside them against a horde of Faceless that had crossed the border.
Things seemed to go well, until disaster struck during a festival. The blade Corrin had been carrying was shattered by a mysterious figure, and Mikoto was slain, destroying the barrier over Hoshido. Ryoma fought against the figure while Corrin rampaged through the square with Azura, Kaze, Rinkah, and Sakura, but was ultimately defeated, forced to retreat.
That would not stand, however, and the Yato in Corrin’s hand only strengthened Ryoma’s resolve. War was declared, and Ryoma and Takumi marched out to bring the fight to Nohr. Their forces had been scattered… and over time, Ryoma found his way to Cheve, joining the Chevois resistance undercover. Eventually, Corrin’s forces reached the city, and he and the leader, Scarlet, joined the army. The group fought their way to Castle Krakenburg, and Ryoma saw Corrin’s duel with Xander. He fought hard as well, and they finally managed to take down Dragon Garon, bringing peace to the kingdoms, even though it came at the cost of Xander and Elise’s lives.
However…[/i]
Running concurrently to the above, Ryoma felt betrayed when his little sister Corrinne took the Yato with her to Nohr. Ryoma had fought on the frontlines, but as Nohr’s forces beat Hoshido’s back time and time again, they fell back, until Ryoma was defending the entryway to the Castle Shirasagi throne room. Separating Corrinne from the others, he dueled her, and ultimately was defeated. Seeing her true intentions and not wanting to make her suffer through having to kill him, as Garon was there, he committed seppuku, dying on the field.
His spirit lingered long enough to see Corrinne stop the possessed body of his younger brother, before finally passing on, at peace that the world would be fine.
Fortunately, that didn’t stick
Ryoma’s siblings took separate paths. Corrin, with the Yato, stayed with Hoshido, while Corrinne fought for Nohr. Things progressed much like before, with Ryoma helping Scarlet and the rebellion, reuniting with Corrin’s forces… up until the fight with Xander. When Corrin was cut off, Ryoma had smashed down the door separating them, insisting on fighting alongside his little brother; Ryoma was disgusted that Xander had insisted on continuing to fight even after Elise’s death, and, offering Corrin aid, the two defeated Xander quickly.
He could only watch as Corrin and Corrinne fought, and she offed herself with Siegfried. He felt a great sadness in his heart, despite doing everything he could to be a good ruler.
However…[/i]
...Corrinne had taken the Yato to Nohr. Ryoma felt betrayed, and was rather angry, as was Corrin, who had stayed. Training Corrin in swordfighting, Ryoma went on the frontlines against Nohr, though yet again, their forces kept getting beaten back time and time again, until yet again, he found himself on the last line of defense before the throne room.
He again lost to Corrinne, and he again killed himself with Raijinto… though before he died, he saw Corrin coming, grieving and furious. He had requested that Corrin run, but… he could only feel concern for his younger sibling as he passed on.
Thankfully, they all got another chance[/i]
When neither sibling would pick a side, Ryoma continued to fight Xander, until he was informed that Corrin and Corrinne had taken down his captain. Branding both siblings traitors, he returned to Hoshido to make more battle plans. He next encountered the group in Cyrkensia, where he and his forces, aided by the Chevois resistance lead by Scarlet, were battling against Xander and his forces. When Azura and a kitsune that Corrin’s group had met defeated Scarlet, Ryoma was distracted, and Corrin knocked him down, before racing past.
He and Xander had continued to clash until Azura’s song calmed them both. While he was hesitant to believe Corrin and Corrinne’s words regarding a ‘true enemy’, Scarlet convinced him, and after directing the twins to Notre Segasse and the Rainbow Sage, he returned to Hoshido. After repelling an attack on the capital with Yukimura’s help, Ryoma decided to join the twins, and eventually jumped into the Bottomless Canyon with them, arriving somewhere unexpected...
