Physical Description
Gadget is an anthropomorphic wolf with bright red fur and peach skin on his muzzle. He has bright gold eyes and a bushy tail. He has a fairly large wardrobe, though his usual combat outfit will be in the linked picture below; a communicator headset, a beige utility belt around his waist, secured by a strap across his chest, and a set of light green combat gloves and boots.
If not wearing that outfit, he’ll usually be wearing a single-color t-shirt, beige shorts, and a pair of Soap running shoes, like Sonic’s.
He never goes without his large glasses, as he has terrible eyesight without them.
Weapons and Accessories
Gadget uses a few different tools to fight; mounted around his left wrist is a grappling hook that he can use to pull himself towards enemies, allowing him to strike them. He also is capable of using several different ‘Wispons’, weapons that utilize the power of alien creatures called Wisps to fight; while he’s used several in the past, his preferred one is ‘Lightning’, which lets him manifest electrical power in the form of a whip.
By using that, he can magnetize enemies and charge through them using the Wispon’s power.
Abilities/Powers
Like most anthropomorphic animals in his world can, Gadget is capable of utilizing power rings to empower himself; being a wolf, he’s also capable of drawing them to himself if they’re nearby.
By utilizing another type of Wisp, or simply building up energy within himself by attacking foes, he can charge up a ‘Boost’, giving himself a burst of speed for a short period of time.
Finally, Gadget is fairly nimble, able to run at decent speeds and perform some acrobatic feats.
Weaknesses
Gadget is not a fighter by nature. While he is capable of holding his own, his technique is sloppy, and he doesn’t have the stamina for drawn-out fights.
Skills
While not to the degree of someone like Tails, Gadget is a bit of a gearhead and tinkerer, capable of working with quite a few different types of machinery.
Personality
Gadget was, prior to the war with Eggman, a cheerful, sunny, and friendly guy. War changed things a bit, though he tried to keep his sunny demeanor; all the fighting took its toll on him.
Still, more than anything else, the wolf has a strong sense of justice and won’t hesitate to do what he thinks is right.
He also has a bad tendency to hide and bottle up more negative emotions.
History
(Note; as Gadget is an avatar character, a lot of this is just based in fanon)
Gadget grew up in Green Hill City, living a mostly uneventful life alongside his twin brother, a teal-furred wolf named Gizmo. Things were peaceful, save for the odd plot of Dr. Eggman’s, but each time, Sonic and his friends had stopped the mad doctor.
At least until one day when Sonic was defeated. Gadget and Gizmo had been separated, and Eggman’s forced had razed the city after Sonic’s defeat. Separated from his brother, Gadget fought back as best he could alongside a militia, but the whole force, many of them folks Gadget had known since he was a kid, were killed by Eggman’s new ‘weapon’, Infinite.
Gadget tried to fight Infinite, but was effortlessly defeated, toyed with, and eventually let go, just for the sake of the monster fueling his own ego and sating his sadism. After recovering a bit from the failed fight, Gadget was rescued by Resistance soldiers, lead by the hero Knuckles the Echidna. Having re-united with his brother, who was injured but still alive, Gadget joined the Resistance in earnest, wanting to fight to stop Eggman. Teaming up with two other new recruits, a pinkish-purple-furred cat named Fuschia and a teal-feathered bird named Corvin, Gadget infiltrated Eggman’s base, allowing the Resistance to hijack a shuttle, which lead to them freeing Sonic.
From there, he continued to fight against Eggman’s forces, encountering Infinite again. Infinite’s actions, the slaughter of his friends, and the taunting had left its mark on Gadget, and he’d frozen up… but Sonic had given him plenty of words of encouragement during their missions together, and the wolf steeled himself, fighting against Infinite, claiming victory thanks to an odd gem similar to the one Infinite had.
With Eggman pushed to his limit, and Infinite’s attempt to annihilate the Resistance ending in failure, the doctor tried one last giant mech, powered by the stone that Infinite had had, but Sonic, Sonic’s alternate-dimension counterpart, and Gadget fought back and destroyed it. Peace had returned to the world and cleanup began in earnest.
Gadget, however, couldn’t stay idle. Leaving Gizmo back in the city to help restoration, Gadget left. Much like Sonic, he sought to find others to help…
He didn’t know what had happened to Infinite after all that, as he’d simply vanished prior to the final fight with Eggman, and despite part of his mind screaming at him that it was a bad idea… ‘no one left behind’ fueled the wolf’s search. Even Infinite. That lead to him discovering a strange warping of space...
Other
Gadget, unlike in his homeworld, doesn’t need to keep grabbing Rings to maintain his strength, but they do help him. He also does have a Super form which the seven Chaos Emeralds can manifest, though even he doesn’t know what it’s like.
He still sometimes has nightmares about the things he saw during the war.
